TintoGreat lunch spotGreat lunch spot. Antipasto was fresh and creative, pizza was tasty as well. great wine list, to pair with the food.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMBrilliant BitesEntire staff was very accomodating! Every dish was flavorful and memorable. Especially enjoyed the duck montadito, paella, green beans, and prawns. Loved the Basque wine.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMAs good as my first visitI took my mom to Tinto to celebrate Mother's Day. I had been once before with my girlfriend and we had the "deluxe" tasting menu ($75 each vs. $55 each). It was phenomenal - each plate was thoughtfully prepared and explained by our waitress.
I wanted to replicate that experience with my mom so we ordered the same deluxe tasting menu and the wine pairing. Typically when I really enjoy a restaurant the second time I go doesn't match up. This was not the case - everything was either just as good or better. It is a true "tour" of the menu and well worth the $75. I could go on and on about each dish (10 each), but I will say the duck wrapped in Serrano ham and fried in duck fat was a friendly assault on the taste buds.
What an experience.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMAbsolutely delicious tapas!Absolutely delicious tapas! We cannot wait to go back again5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMPhenomenal food and service.Phenomenal food and service. We were a group of 6 and seated right next to the kitchen and it was quite loud and difficult to hear everyone speaking, but other than that a great experience.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experience, and whileGreat experience, and while the food was outstanding, the service left a bit to be desired. After a quick barrage of courses, we were left to sit without a single course for nearly 40 minutes. It took a call to our waiter to get more food and the balance of what we had previously ordered. A small blemish to what is otherwise a fantastic experience.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMtook clients there and theytook clients there and they loved it. The shared portion method of eating is good for client interaction etc..5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat food and service but.....Food and table service were excellent as usual. The hostess however, was extremely rude and basically asked us to clear the table after an hour and a quarter, even though the tables near us had emptied and nobody seemed to be waiting for a table. My friend, who owns a restaurant was shocked!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMSpecial occasionHad a nice meal, tried everything..service was good, food was excellent5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMSpectacular Dining ExperienceOrdered the more expensive tasting menu, then sat back and enjoyed the fabulous creations that came out of the kitchen. Service by knowledgeable, experienced staff was excellent, and enhanced the overall dining experience. We look forward to returning very soon!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMTinto was terrific! The chef's combinations of flavors and textures were so pleasing that they were entertaining. We truly enjoyed each plate, and as our server had indicated four each (that were all shared) were quite satisfying. The service was outstanding, well orchestrated, and never left us wanting for having something delicious in front of us. The kitchen must also be run by a deft hand to have each plate prepared and ready to be served with just the right timing.
We loved the subtle decor in the lower dining room, and meant to check out the bar area, but had a play to attend directly afterwards. We're sure it was lovely and welcoming as well.
Thank you, Tinto and staff! We plan to return to try newly imagined plates in the future!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMDinner at TintoMy wife and I took a weekend retreat to Philadelphia to go to the Philadelphia Orchestra and have a relaxing time. All was met in addition to going to Tinto and having an AMAZING dining experience there. TInto is a tapas bar/restaurant and I do recommend that when going that you go with the idea of sharing. All items are presented in small plate form with fantastic presentations. I can't wait to go back to try more things.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was my 2nd time at Tinto. It was my 2nd time at Tinto. Went back this time with different friends, hoping the food would be as wonderful as the first time and it absolutely was! We had the premium tasting menu and it was worth every penny. Just when we thought we couldn't eat another delicious bite, the waiter delivered an awesome dessert and we devoured that, too. Highly recommend Tinto! Hats off to the chef and the kitchen crew.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat placeWe had the tasting menu. 4 guys in town for business. All eat at nice places and are a bit snobby about food. All walked away thoroughly impressed. Great place.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMNoise level is too high ,Noise level is too high , unfortunately
Food was superb, a great dining experience4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMWe selected the Chefs TastingWe selected the Chefs Tasting and were not disappointed. Food selections, preparations and quantities were truly excellent. A memorable dinner.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome!!!!Fantastic food, great wine selection, and unbelievably great service. This place is a hit!!4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMwe celebrated my husband'swe celebrated my husband's birthday there and the food was excellent! We chose the Grand Tasting and really enjoyed not knowing what was coming next. It was all soooo good!4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMTinto is always great butTinto is always great but Saturday night the food seemed better than ever. Just go with the tasting menu. Both the standard and the deluxe tasting are terrific. We had deluxe this time and it was worth the extra $20. The Old Fashioned was also one of the best I've ever had.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time dining at Tinto! The food was excellent. I was really impressed by the atmosphere. The staff was friendly and attentive, yet never annoying.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful selection of smallWonderful selection of small plates. We left feeling very satisfied and well taken care of.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMAbsolutely fantastic! GotAbsolutely fantastic! Got the chef's tasting menu and wine pairing, and did not feel rushed at all even though we sat there for almost 4 hours! When our dessert wine took a very long time to get to us, they were very classy and brought it on the house. Excellent atmosphere, excellent food, excellent service!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMWe enjoyed Tinto's greatly. We enjoyed Tinto's greatly. The duck dish was a table favorite. If you're looking for an opportunity to talk, I'd reccommend taking a table downstairs. We found it more 'intimate'.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother Great meal at Tinto!Another Great meal at Tinto! This has become our favorite Garces restaurant. The service was excelent, attentive but not hovering. The food was outstanding (Have yet to have a bad meal here).
We are looking forward to the next oportunity to go to Tinto.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently reliable qualityConsistently good service and great food in a beautifully lit atmosphere. Prefer over Amada.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMSecond time at Tinto, stillSecond time at Tinto, still great.
The rice Bomba is incredible and worth the entire visit.
Would love to see more vegetarian options in that style.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was great, Chef's TastingFood was great, Chef's Tasting menu is a great deal. Got to try so many delicious tapas. Overall, everything was good4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food & service.Excellent food & service. Would definitely go back again.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWe always have a great timeWe always have a great time at Tinto. The food is creative, the staff is very helpful. Don't miss it.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMgood and plentyWe had tix to a play near Rittenhouse Sq and Open Table lead us to this nearby restaurant. My wife always likes small plates and many tastes, so I knew she would enjoy the tapas menu. We had no idea how good it would be!! As first time diners, we tried the tasting menu and the waiter accommodated my wife's special requests. Each dish was artfully presented and well prepared. We loved the delightful surprises that just kept coming. Next time we will order ourselves, because there are more dishes on the menu we want to try and we would certainly order less food.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMDo yourself a favor.. and goTook my mother here for her birthday and everything was delicious. The sangria all the tapas we had, and the dessert, was really an excellent dining experience. The waiting staff were great and even though there was a wait they were very courteous. Would definitely recommend for a special event, a date, or a place to splurge on yourself (and your taste buds)4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a great restaurant..What a great restaurant.. another to check off of the Garces Group's list of deliciousness. Had a reservation for two here as my fiancee had won a raffle for a tasting menu for two. Came in a bit early for our reservation, so we decided to enjoy the bar for about 20 minutes. Great fully stocked bar with a few beers on draught, as expected. Tasting menu comprised of over 10 short courses, all different but full of flavor in their own way. My fiancee had tried the duck confit at a Garces-hosted event and was hoping it was included in the tasting menu. It wasn't, but a simple request to our server and he said he could make it happen with the kitchen! Great food, great service, great place for a date.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMTremendous! A few days agoTremendous! A few days ago was my first time at Tinto-- it will not be the last. Jose Garces is a genius-- and a pretty good chef at that.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMTapas Done RightWe did the chefs tasting menu for four of us. The food was outstanding and the service was very good. The food just kept coming and coming and coming. I didn't / couldn't count all the dishes but there was well over 15. The wine list had a good selection but we opted for the red sangria which was also very enjoyable. We had a very enjoyable dinner are definitely going back.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMI love Tinto! We all had the Chef's Tasting menu. Every dish was wonderful and we left more than satisfied. The only thing I would change would be to tell diners how many dishes to expect so we could pace ourselves. We just didn't know when the food would end. They also have creative cocktails that are wonderful! Their version of a Caipirinha (can't remember the name) with blood orange juice was fabulous.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMSecond time at Tinto and itSecond time at Tinto and it didn't disappoint. Our faves were baby octopus, The Turbot, and the mussels. A couple of dishes were a bit bland bit that's the worst that I can say. Wine list was extensive but quite pricey, bordering on over-priced. Our choice was a 2010 Toro, which was very good and paired well with the food. But was it worth $60? Not sure. Only real complaint was that I felt rushed. Dishes were coming out before we had even finished our last course.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMMy son and I took my husbandMy son and I took my husband here for his birthday. The food was excellent. We loved everything we tried. The music was a tiny bit loud for my taste (but this seems to be the case is all restaurants). Our waitress was very accomodating and turned it down a notch. The wait staff was very attentive. They brought a lovely dessert with a candle for my husband. The only suggestion I have- bring the courses out a little slower so plates of food do not accumulate on the table. We enjoyed the restaurant very much and would definitely go back and recommend it to friends.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was my fourth visit toThis was my fourth visit to Tinto and as always the food was fabulous!4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous meal.We had a fabulous meal with our two college aged sons here. Had the chefs tasting menu, mentioned we liked lamb and duck to the server and the were both included. The courses kept coming and were superb! There was not one that we didn't love. We sat in the downstairs space which was perfect as it was more private and not as noisy. Servers were very attentive. Highly recommend.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMAn delicious trip to Spain!I have been to Tinto before for drinks and after having discovered my favorite cocktail there (La Bruja - get with blood orange), I knew I had to try their food so returned. I am a fairly picky eater but was able to have a good variety of choices despite the moderate sized menu. Not only did I discover my favorite drink there, but this time I found the best octopus in Philly. It was charred and crispy on the outside and melt-in-your-mouth on the inside. The flavors in every dish we had were outstanding. In addition to the food, the staff was very friendly and knowledgable. It was small and noisey, but a conversation is still easily had, and the vibe almost transports you to a tapas bar in Spain. Tinto has become my new favorite restaurant!3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMI Love Jose Garces!!!!This is an amazing restaurant all around! Great food, attentive staff, wonderful environment!!3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect for the picky New YorkersLooking for a place for fussy out-of-town foodies(a.k.a New Yorkers?) This is the one. They were very impressed with the wonderful small plates from the Basque region that were served to us one after the other, non-stop. We had about 12 small plates for the 3 of us and it was actually more than enough...all were fantastic but of special note were the figs, green beans, boquerones, pulpo (spanish octopus), revuelto de bacalao (black cod with scrambled egg) and the duck. We have been trying many of the newer small BYOBs,many of which are great, but this is the real deal, a full service restaurant/bar with impeccable service, A+ food, a lovely atmosphere, private booths where you can actually hear each other: the whole package.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThe tapas here are deliciousThe tapas here are delicious and original. The waiter was very patient with our 3 year-old. We will definitely go back when we're in Philly.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was great and serviceThe food was great and service impeccable. Great job! Please bring back the flamenco guitar. That was so good and really made the ambiance exquisite.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a small table, whereWe had a small table, where we could see the chefs preparing and plating the food. The room was lively, but not too loud for conversation. The diver scallops were outstanding. My husband loved the duck confit plate. Every bite was delicious!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMTinto Tops RecommendationWas in Philly for NCAAs and took a quick cab ride downtown to try Tinto on a recommendation. Dinner and wine experience turned out to be as good as the basketball action. Food presentation was excellent and the taste was even better. Vino was a great compliment as recommended by the waitress. Can not say enough about entire experience.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding food, decor-great barFood is outstanding and service is prompt and very professional. Bar is amazing in its design. Bartenders are very professional and knowledgable will converse at your will and if so will not over do it. Great for small groups, perfect for couples or eat alone at the bar.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMI had a great time here. TheI had a great time here. The food was incredible. Craig the bartender guided us through some tasty wine selections and was a font of knowledge; great to talk too. We also met some other people at the bar who have become friends. A great place.....and that was a Tuesday!3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food is excellent, butThe food is excellent, but will always be reserved for a special occasion because the prices are very high for very small portions.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMI loved the tapas style menu.I loved the tapas style menu. It allowed us to taste several things. Everything was delicious! Service was great; very accommodating to our requests. I want to go back and try the Brunch menu.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AM
