Diner Reviews
  • "Went for dinner before the Orchestra. Every plate provided a delicious and satisfying taste treat. we will return."
    Dined on 4/12/2014
  • "Overall very good. Small plates were good, particularly the tuna tartare small sandwich, prawns, salad with roasted garlic dressing was perfect .For desert I had an amazing cherry shortbread type of cake - so good ! Large wine selection, tried a Rose at the recommendation of the waiter. We ordered a number of small plates for the 4 of us to share, not impressed with the crab (small fried crab bites) or the pork belly toasts. Service started off great - although not pleased with the table we were taken to shoved in theback, they moved us to a better table once we asked. There were only a few tables filled when we arrived and we did have reservations. Once the restaurant filled up our waiter and his attentive service fell off a bit."

  • "As a veteran diner at Tinto, I say with admiration that our experience is outstanding every time. The octopus is a must every time we visit."

  • "It was great. The lamb brochetas was possibly the best we have ever had, just freaking delicious."

  • "Fantastic food--every bite a taste sensation! Impeccable service, warm ambiance. Don't miss it!"

  • "we are originally from New Zealand, and were visiting Tinto for the first time on a friend's recommendation. the food was pretty good, however, it was expensive because the portions were really small (we were warned beforehand by our friend- guess v should have paid closer attention to that!)!! it is certainly not a place where one would visit frequently. saving it for a special occasion, once a year, would perhaps do justice."
    Dined on 4/5/2014
  • "I would recommend this to open eaters. And would def recommend the tasting meal. All four of us left full. Great atmosphere and great service."
    Dined on 4/2/2014
  • "almost everything has meat in it so not a good option for vegetarians. it's a really fun happy hour though!"

  • "This place was amazing with great food and amazing service. I definitely recommend it!"

  • "The food is great though I prefer Amada. I have to say that the portion for cheese is too small and the choc cake dessert was not great. It is a great place though and we'll be back."
    Dined on 3/30/2014
  • "A darker and more intimate setting compared to Amada with an edgier feel to the food. The original footage near the kitchen is great fun to watch how it all comes together."

  • "This was my third visit to Tinto. The ambience is great and the wine list (for Spanish wines) is great. This is a wonderful place to go with a special person, or a crowd."

  • "Wonderful dining experience for our one year wedding anniversary! The service and food was impeccable! As it is a tapas restaurant it is recommended that you order 3-4 dishes per person. The food is served family style meaning the food comes out as it is done being prepared. Sangria is quite tasty and wine and beer selection is outstanding. Make sure to save room for the chocolate torte with Nutella ice cream for dessert. Will surely come again during our next visit to Philadelphia."

  • "We ordered 6 dishes for 2 people and left more than satisfied. Each dish was better than the last. They have a bit of an eclectic flair, like uni on the scallops. There's onion soup on the menu, which signifies the crossover between Spain and France in the Basque region. Presentation was lovely. Lighting is dim, so the vibrancy of the plates was a bit lost there, but overall a great dining experience."

  • "My husband and I enjoyed the chef's tasting and the wine pairing. The match was amazing. the servers, manager and our waitress were great. It was a great meal to celebrate our anniversary. We had to sit at a high top table, which was the only downfall to the meal. We were directly across from the bar and the food runners were constantly running past us."

  • "The food was very good, but our waiter was, we agreed, the best we've ever had, which can make an evening."
    Dined on 3/22/2014
  • "This was our 4th time and dinner was as wonderful as ever. We have always eaten up on the main floor and were pleasantly surprised when we were escorted to the lower level. Incredible meal and great service!"

  • "Great dining experience, satisfactory portion size."

  • "food is AMAZING! can't go wrong. was originally seated in a booth with uncomfortable seating really close to another table... asked to move & sat near the kitchen & it was fine. not the best ambience, but the food was great."
    Dined on 3/19/2014
  • "Lovely and unfussy space and vibe. Skillful and unobtrusive service. Good humored staff and clientele. And then there is the food and drink. Totally delightful and leaving many choices we couldn't fit in on our first visit that we'd want to go back and try. Not that we wouldn't repeat what we've already had. Perfect meal for us."

  • "Service was horrible. From our arrival to the conclusion of our meal. So disappointing as Tinto has always been one of our favorites."
    Dined on 3/15/2014
  • "Everything was great except the veggie sides. They were WAY over salted. We got the mushrooms and all I could taste was salt."
    Dined on 3/16/2014
  • "Absolutely amazing tapas! These shared plates confirm why Jose Garces is an Iron Chef. Amazing wines from Priorat!"
    Dined on 3/14/2014
  • "If you sit by the kitchen the unshielded lights over the grill are very bright and glare in your eyes the whole meal."
    Dined on 3/13/2014
  • "Menu was diverse, some authentic tapas, a few stretches that were over the top, but overall very good, above average service, wine list was very overpriced but unique selection, would recommend and return, thank you Chef Garces"

  • "It was my first time dinning at Tinto, overall great experience. I will recommend it to anyone. The place was small but comfortable. The food was delicious, especially the scallops and the chuleta. I will definitely go back try new dishes. The service was well-timed and friendly."
    Dined on 3/14/2014
  • "Great dinner experience. This is the place to come to if you can't get into Amada. In fact, I like it better. Food was just as good but not as crowded."
    Dined on 3/10/2014
  • "We had the $55 tasting menu and enjoyed everything except the meatballs which we thought were too salty and had too much breadcrumbs. The sauce under them was terrific though. The mussels were especially wonderful. The service was thoughtful though the place was pretty frenetic. We were not rushed and had a delightful meal."

  • "This place has consistently amazing food and great drinks. This past weekend, though, there was an obnoxious extended family with multiple children who had bouncy balls that were getting tossed under all kinds of tables of diners. The only thing louder and more intrusive than the kids were their parents and loud aunt who felt it appropriate to yell to one another over diners seated around them. The manners on those adults were just horrible. Usually Tinto is not such a kid-friendly place, though, so I wouldn't hold this one instance against the restaurant. They did promptly tuck the family down in the basement away from everyone else, which I am sure everyone in the place was thankful for! Overall, it really is a great spot."

  • "We dined at Tinto pre theatre on a Sat. Night. It was very crowded but we were taken to the table right away. The server was great. She was very pleasant and efficient. We ordered 6 items and each arrived at the table in an appropriate manner. The food was excellent. We had the figs, onion soup, short rib sandwich, shrimp, lamb and mushrooms. All highly recommended. We would definitely go back again."

  • "Fantastic food with incredible variety. A fun and delicious dinner."

  • "This place was so great we ended comparing every other place we ate at to here. The food and service were amazing and the cocktails were top notch. Of we are ever in the area we will definitely be repeat customers again and again!"

  • "Had a group of 6 friends in town- we tried the chef table with paired wines-a great variety of dishes, all interesting and tasty- server was efficient but not obtrusive. Sat near the open kitchen- neat to see the action. Overall great"

  • "Creative twists on Tapas from an Iron Chef that did NOT disappoint."

  • "Went to Tinto's on Sat. with 3 friends-3 of us love to try all types of food and 0ne who is very picky- All of us enjoyed trying all the different plates including the picky eater. The food was great as was the service. Overall it was a great meal and would definitely go back."

  • "We were not surprised when my wife and I received great service from every staff member in addition to the amazing chef's tasting. Tinto has not only gotten an excellent reputation, but has kept it overtime."

  • "7:00 PM reservation for 4 and we were seated immediately. Our server was excellent as was the food and wine selection."
    Dined on 2/28/2014
  • "An underwhelming experience from start to finish. I am not sure why anyone would choose Tinto over Amada, Bar Ferndinand, or Jamonera. The tasting menu we ordered wasn't managed correctly. Our first course hit the table before our coctails. The servers didn't take the time to explain the dishes or the rationale for why they were paired together. As the meal progressed, it became readily apparent that there was no rhyme or reason for the dishes being served to us. The dishes were bland and unimaginative with the exception of a plate of greenbeans that was prepared with dates, oranges, and almonds in a paprika vinaigrette. If you want to do tapas in Philly, get a table at one of the 3 aforementioned restuarants and you won't be disappointed."
    Dined on 3/1/2014
  • "We ordered 5 dishes and expected the kitchen to pace them accordingly, but they all came out in quick succession. This screwed with our wine pairings and left us with too much food on the table at once, as well as causing us to fill up too quickly. If the dishes had been better paced we likely would have had room for more. Instead, we felt pushed out too quickly."

  • "I don't normally write reviews, but Tinto is definitely worth doing it for! My boyfriend and I had some of the best tapas we've ever had at Tinto. There was great service, a romantic-when-you-want-it atmosphere, and great food at reasonable prices. We ordered 9 plates and somehow spent less than $100 between the two of us, even after tax! It was a surprisingly satisfying amount of food for two people. The ambiance was nice; dark woods with even darker lighting. If anything, my only complaint would be that it was a little on the dark side. I could read the menus just fine, but I could hardly see in front of me in what little light there was. Other than that, we had an amazing experience at Tinto! A must-visit!"
