Tinto is fantastic. The unique interior design is visually appealing without being at all distracting to the dining experience. I have tried many good dishes, but my personal favorite is the Pulpo. Quite possibly the best octopus in the city. The wine list is extensive and the pairing selections went well with my meal. Tinto is great for a romantic date or a quiet dinner with a few friends.

It's restaurant week in Center City and we ate from the price fixe menu. We had 8 different dishes ("tappas" format). All 8 were excellent! I would recommend Tinto's to anyone who might be in the Rittenhouse Square section of the city. Service was respectful, prompt, (but not overbearing) and our server was very attentive. (our server said he has been with Garces for 7 years which resonated with me). The wine list was excellent, too. I even liked the bartender before we sat down; kind, mellow and decent guy. Highly recommend!!

I love Garces restaurants, and every time I come to Tinto I have a great experience. Restaurant week menu was great this time. The spanish octopus was fantastic. My only complaint is that the service was a little too relaxed, maybe because it was restaurant week. The waiter was not that attentive. That was the only time I did not have a superb experience with the service at Tinto. Overall still one of my favorites in the area.

I happen to LOVE Amada and was always told that Tinto is an inferior version of the Garces restaurant, so I'd been hesitant to go here, however I was definitely impressed! Came here for restaurant week and everything was amazing from the food to the ambiance to the service. The sea bass and bomba rice were standouts from our meal. Will definitely be back.

We dined at Tinto during restaurant week where the feature was a prix fixe tapas dinner featuring 5 choices per person including appetizers, salad, potatoes and meats/fish as well as dessert. Each dish was expertly prepared and seasoned from the delightful figs wrapped in ham to the luscious sea bass. The tapas dishes were paced well with dishes appearing magically as we were finishing the previous. The desserts consisted of a unique honey/grapefruit panna cotta contrasted with a rich chocolate torte.

Up to JGG standards; I've yet to be disappointed dining at a Garces property. In this case, I've frequented the 'other' Tinto in Palm Springs but had never been to the Philadelphia location. The menu is Basque tapas similar, the dishes outstanding. My only concerns are upward price creep at all JGG restaurants and whether this empire is becoming too large to manage each property with the attention to detail they deserve.

My husband and I took advantage of having dinner at Tinto's during Philly restaurant week. We were very pleased with our dining experience and would highly recommend it. The food was delicious, high quality and presented so beautifully. We were surprised at the generous portions and enjoyed the evening from start to finish. Have now been to several of Jose Garces restaurants and have not been disappointed.

First time dining.Came for restaurant week. Our server Damien was very helpful, friendly, attentive.Made our dining experience successful! Sat next to the kitchen which was fun! Tapas are my favorite way of eating, getting to try many foods and flavors in a meal. Tinto did a great job of Spanish/French Basque style, combining foods and regional flavors that were interesting, distinct and complimentary. Loved the octopus! Gazpacho was fantastic! I paired figs with a cheese plate, yummy! We had the chicken with brussels sprouts and it was a little dry but very good flavors. Sea bass was ok.My only regret was not ordering the panna cotta and going with the chocolate dessert. It was a delicious regret tho'! Good Sangria. Would definitely return.

Great place for an evening dinner with the wife. Restaurant size much larger than the subtle storefront. Decor rustic yet modern, with walls covered with ceiling-high dark wooden wine racks. We were seated promptly upon our arrival for our 7:30pm reso - it was packed, which was comforting. Wanting to try as many dishes as possible, we both ordered the $75 Chef's Menu (versus going a la carte or with the $55 Chef's Menu). Being a tapas style menu, and the Chef's Menu not pre-determined, requested a wider variety of dishes, rather than having an identical meal throughout - request was fulfilled at no extra cost. Highlights included the Foie Gras Torchon, Wagyu Sirloin & Diver Scallops. Good cheeses. Would go back next time in Philly.

A delicious meal that was creative and excellent in preparation. Most dishes had a great combination of flavors. Scallop dish was a bit too sweet and could have been better if that was toned down a bit. Unfortunately the waiter kept this from being even higher rated for us. When we ordered the wine he noted it was just an "ok" selection yet when asked for other suggestions he was not helpful just saying others were better. If he had gone into more detail we would have ordered a "better". Throughout the meal he was aloof and unfriendly. Not rude, but cool and aloof as if we shouldn't have been taking up his time. Too bad because this really did sour our overall impression.

This was our second trip to Tinto. First time everything was fabulous, had the chef's tasting menu with wine pairings. So good we thought we'd try it again the following year. While the food was every bit as good, we were left feeling a bit cold with our waiter. I feel if you're spending that much money for a whole meal experience, you should be treated well. Our waiter walked by our table several times and never bothered to ask if we wanted refills of our wine even though our glasses were empty. He gave us an overall impression that we weren't worth his time. While the food was absolutely delicious we will probably choose somewhere else next time.

The food and service were excellent. Although the ambiance was very welcoming, the seats were a bit low for the table downstairs. I've had dinner and drinks upstairs. The upstairs area by the bar has a bit more energy...so this may not be great for talking; however it is great for a small gathering. Foodie friends of mine are in love with the place because of the creative and artistically presented tapas.

I eat out 4x a week. This was just flat out bad. Server forgot to ring in apps, never refilled drinks except 1x which took 15mins. The food that did come out was good minus my main course that I was ready to cancel it took so long but if I couldn't even out find our waiter to do that. When it finally come out long after my dates food was done it was ice cold. He was nice enough to ask instead of taking it off check why don't I box it up. I declined and ate somewhere else after. I wrote the manager on their website with no call or response. Good food but id rather not have to fight for it.

Portions of early courses were small & I worried. However, the food is rich and satisfying & the wine shouldnt be forgotten as part of the equation. Duck, Sea Bass, Prawns, Iberico Wagyu all delicious. We felt we got good value for our experience

My wife and I ate here on Friday night; it was great. I'm a social worker and her a teacher, so a night out at a place like Tinto is a luxury. I was concerned that we might feel out of place, but that wasn't true. The vibe there is just casual enough and we were very comfortable. The staff were accommodating and down-to-earth. Our waiter, Michael, was knowledgeable and attentive; he helped us make some great menu choices. The wine list seemed well rounded though lost on us as we aren't really well versed in wine, but we ended up with a bottle of Tempranillo that we thought pretty tasty. I've been to another Garces place, Village Whiskey and really liked it. Next date night hopefully we will try Amada.

The food was outstanding. There was not a dish I did not think was great. You should be on the exotic side or daring to enjoy the experience. I had the octopus, the duck confit *****, prawns and shared other plates. That being said my daughter, who recommended the site, is not that daring and really like it. Service was great, very helpful and attentive but not over the top. Dining on a Wednesday was a good idea, not the crazy busy weekends. It is not cheap by a long way, but worth it.

My younger son is a manager of an extremely popular Philly restaurant. He wanted to go to Tinto for his birthday with his family. The restaurant layout was so cramped and narrow. You could hardly hear the server describing the dishes because of the noise level. The 4 of us learned that Tinto does not have small plates but a "tasting" selection. For a little less than main course prices you got to taste a smear of 3 cheeses, tissue paper thin meats, bland heirloom tomatoes, a small portion of duck and smaller paella. The crowning jewel was when they forgot the candle on my son's dessert and later brought a candle stuck to an empty plate. If you want to spend a lot of money and be hungry after doing so then Tinto is for you. Never again!

We had a lovely dinner at Tinto. Most of the food was great, only a few courses missed the mark. Are only complaint was the time between the courses. This is Tapas, so it is all small "bites" or courses. We were sharing many of the courses, so the "bites" were even smaller. The wait from the first course to the second was so long that we almost wanted to go home! If you eat something and then wait too long, you no longer have an appetite.

Our first at expereience at Tinto was wonderful. Always trying new places when we travel to Philadelphia can be an adventure but this one is truly a spot we will return to. Great staff upon arriving and the server we had was very helpful with the menu and suggestions for our meal. The wine list contains very good high-end wines that are a perfect match for the food. We ordered ala carte rather than the tasting menu which can sometimes eliminate the hidden gems. Each dish was prepared and presented in a way that you know the chef takes pride in what is served. The ham-wrapped figs, pork belly sandwiches and Bomba rice are a must. The lamb was cooked exactly as ordered and needs to be tried. Excellent spot.

We ordered the chef's tasting menu. There are two pricing levels. We ordered the higher. Food that arrived was all very one note. With the main taste of everything being overly oily and charred. Perhaps if we had ordered ourselves there would have been more diversity of flavor a, but as the tasting me u is supposed to be creative and luxurious, I seriously doubt it. There are several other better tapas restaurants in Philadelphia. Skip this one. We also ordered the wine pairing option. If there was a connection between the wines served and the dishes beyond red with meat/white with cheese we couldn't find it. Very disappointing meal.
