A word from Tin Can Fish House
Tin Can is the latest creation by brother and sister team, Arte Antoniades and Nik Panagopoulos. The sibling pair is best known for the original Fishmonger Restaurant and Teela Taqueria (named by the Atlanta Journal Constitution as one of Top 10 Best Taquerias in Atlanta). Located adjacent to its sister restaurant Teela Taqueria in City Walk at Sandy Springs, Tin Can's eclectic menu of seaside dishes and seashore café décor transforms the City Walk into the Boardwalk as guests dine on Soft Shell Crab Sliders, Shrimp and Oyster Po' Boys, and Blackened Mahi Mahi fish while enjoying a laid back atmosphere for singles and families alike.

There was a special oyster event going on to try some new preparations of baked oysters. Everyone enjoyed trying new items. I had grouper which was very good. The tin can salad is also very good. There is a nice menu and reasonable prices for very good food.

Waited 25 minutes before our drinks were served; 15 minutes before order even taken. The patio was close to empty, so it wasn't due to them being busy. Food was bland, unmemorable. Won't return.

I took my aunt here because she wanted to celebrate her birthday at a casual place, and enjoy some oysters. This was out first visit. We sat at the bar first and had a nice, cold beer. They have a pretty nice beer selection - decent local craft brews as well as some others. We then sat outside and enjoyed a couple dozen fresh oysters and crab balls. The food was fresh, good, and just right for the atmosphere. We had good service. I will be back!

A few years back Tin Can was a pretty good choice for seafood in Sandy Springs area. Over the last year or so, however, it has gone downhill in my opinion. Food was not good at all, and most seemed like it had been reheated in microwave. Would not recommend

I became a regular at Tin Can over a year ago and had become familiar with the bartender and wait service. The food is still good and the service is too, but the familiarity is slightly gone. The weather didn't permit us sitting outside but that is one of the best areas to eat. I love having the sun set on my back in the evenings and watch the sky change into dusk. I have friends come from all over and when they do (if they enjoy seafood) treat them to a meal. It will always be a favorite neighborhood find. - SJ

We were jammed into a tight corner and experienced pretty slow service when the whole place was virtually empty during a normal lunch time (should have taken this as a clue). Best thing was the kids menu (fried everything), but oysters were warm, tilapia and grouper tasted and looked the same, ceviche had more salsa than fish, hush puppies were hard as rocks and, overall, the average food was very expensive for what we got (and why would I pay $1.50 for mignonette sauce on oysters - seriously?). This place feels like a bad franchise even though it's a standalone restaurant. Nice try, but not going back.

This is one of my favorite spots to dine especially when it's 75 plus degree whether in the ATL. The patio provides a comfortable setting for an afternoon lunch and the sun setting on my back feels quite good in the evenings. While it appears that there are new waiters and waitresses and it seems that LaLa is no longer at the bar, the friendly atmosphere and great service is still in abundance.

This was a cute little restaurant with a very relaxed feel. I would have given it a higher score but the food just wasn't seasoned and as flavorful as I would have liked it to be. The wait staff and bartenders were very nice. The time I went it was very slow and not many people were dining but I can imagine it probably gets quite slammed when the restaurant is full. I also would have liked it more if there were happy hour specials.

When you have to ask for condiments, that really tells you all you want to know. On the bright side, the fried oysters were delicious. The fried cod on the fish 'n chips was lightly breaded, properly seasoned, crisp and moist, however frozen French fries? Really. On the low side the clam chowder was cold and they left it on the bill! The service was poor. Considering that there was a very small crowd, the servers seemed more intent on watching the fry cooks and each other than their tables. With everything a la carte, the bill was embarrassing for the experience.

Tried Tin Can Fish House for the first time on Friday night. My date and I both had grouper (hers was grilled and mine was fried) with cheese grits. When I saw that the entrees were only $16.00, I was thinking the portions would be small or the fish wouldn't taste fresh. I couldn't have been more wrong! The meal was every bit as good as many I've had on the gulf coast. They also had this really good fried shrimp appetizer with a spicy/mayo-based sauce. The shrimp were very tender. We had our meals with the appetizer (no drinks) and were in and out in an hour for only $50. Did not have the menu choices you will have at Atlanta Fish Market, but it was a nice new experience.

Where do I start? We were sat at a table even though we requested a booth. We were told all the booths were reserved. No one ever sat there while we were there. The restaurant was so cold that I had to put my jacket over my legs and it was so dark - you could not even read the menu or the check. It was so noisy that we could not have a conversation. My appetizer (crab balls) was great! My husband enjoyed his oysters and soft shell crab. My paella was AWFUL! The wine list was limited and they had no beer on draft. The staff is not knowledgable. My husband asked what kind of oysters they had (e.g. gulf, blue point, etc.). The waitress said all she knew was that they were raw. Enough said. Don't waste your time.

Decent but just o.k. Fish seemed under cooked (wet). Po Boy had an odd taste and the grouper's outside came out too dark but the inside was wet. Apparently the frier is set too high and over browns the exterior and leaves the inside under-done.

My husband, small child, & I have been to Tin Can several times. We love it because the food & service are usually very good & it's kid friendly. We invited several friends to join us there for an early dinner on NYE. The food was good, but service was rather slow considering it wasn't very crowded. I'm sure it may have just been that our server was a little overwhelmed with it being a holiday. We will, however, definitely be back & are even considering making it a NYE tradition.

They have a good selection of sea food at good value. for eight eaters. They even satisfied my vegan spouse, they fed the little ones easily, they even surprised me with very good food, soup, and very excellent service, a casual no stress meal! Reasonably priced with a good assorted menu. I had the fried oyster/calamari/crab ball platter. My spouse had the mixed vegetables and a spinach salad. The kids had nice chicken baskets, The rest of the family had trout and 4 orders of fresh raw oysters and wine...the check came to about $240 plus tips. after eating and drinking for 2 hours and a half. (in the Kroger shopping center parking lot) it'll become our local place to fall back on when you NEED raw and fried oysters plus sea food!

I keep searching for good but inexpensive seafood in Atlanta and am going to keep searching. I had the grouper (horseradish-crusted). It was a nice peice of fish in terms of portion size and quality but the horseradish crust was fairly bland i.e. no kick and might as well have been just breadcrumbs. My kids had salmon and shrimp and they both said it was ok but not tasty. So I'd put it in the same category as Red Lobster and nowhere near what I'd call good seafood places like Atlantic Seafood or Atlanta Fish Market.

My wife and I went to the Tin Can Fish House on a recent Saturday and came away impressed. While we booked on OpenTable, there really was no need because there were a number of empty tables, probably because of the bad weather. The decor looks like a place by the beach and it is a bit noisy, probably from the sound reflecting off all the tin. The margaritas were good and priced right at $5. We had the bam-bam shrimp as an appetizer, which was nothing really special - breaded shrimp with a spicy sort of mayo. I can heartily recommend the paella, although the spicy andouille sausage could be a bit much for some palates. She had the grouper, which was tender and moist and her vegetables were crisp and fresh.

Unfortunately this place just stinks all the way around. The oysters arent freshly shucked, which equates to dry, tasteless oysters. The portions are tiny. My husbands entree was the same size as my daughter's who ordered the kids meal! Mussels were overcooked and tasteless, cocktail sauce tasted like chili sauce. Beer was not cold.
