When we have company in from out of town it is one of the main places we choose to impress the greatness of what our city has to offer. Italian food with class in a fun environment. The bar up front is always vibrant with a jazz or similar musician. The steamed mussels are a signature entree along with steaks. There are so many options on the menu it would be a disservice to just label Timpano's a steakhouse. The Osso Bucco is incredible along with the chicken marsala. The service is impeccable. Our candle went out at the table and was relit by our waiter within ten seconds. I made reservations at Timpanos based on other reviews I read on Yelp. I was in FLL on business, and was not very familiar with the restaurant scene. So, I went here with a co-worker not knowing what to expect. Well, it was one of the most delightful dining experiences I've had in a long time. Our waiter, Tom was excellent. He knew everything you need to know about the menu. He recommended the Mussel's appetizer that was off the charts. My co-worker had never had mussels and loved them. I never heard of Timpano but the reviews online sound reasonable. I went with a hope and a prayer and it was everything I could love. The waitress was perfect, she offered helped even when we didn't ask. The food was beyond amazing I had shrimp diavolo and I was satisfied. Food is always great and I enjoy the live music. I would take all my friends from out of town for special dinners. Since moving back to NY, I try to visit Timpano's at least once when in FL. I introduced Timpano's to a recent ex-New Yorker and he loved it! We love the ambiance of this restaurant and the lively atmosphere. Drinks are always good, but the food isnt always consistent. They usually have a delicious Chicken Marsala, but it was very dry the last time we went. They also changed the amazing garlic and oil dipping sauce they used to have and we were very disappointed. Our waiter knew when to stay back and give us time and when to come take care , I saw him waiting at the corner scanning the room for his tables and came exactly whenever we needed before we even called for him. And this is during a busy Saturday night. He was on top of it! And the prices are reasonable for such an amazing dinner. We will definitely be back. In fact, this fabulous restaurant would be a reason to go back to the area. Everything was really wonderful from the beginning to end- good ambience, very good service, and one of the best meals I've ever had. The menu is extensive, but we both chose fillets and were not disappointed- cooked to perfection. The Martini with Blue Cheese Olives, best ever, and the Creme Brulee to die for. If you know fine wine, you will be pleased with their selection.
This restaurant is not to be missed and I've been lucky enough to have a lot of great restaurant meals. I had specific food restrictions and the waiter was perfect at making sure that I was accommodated and my filet, asparagus and salad tasted wonderful and were prepared just the way I wanted them. Lunch is upscale and business-like yet one be casual and comfortable. The menu, while not large, has the perfect variety of selections from wonderfully creative salads to larger entrees. Later in the day, the place easily takes on a dinner atmosphere. Great cocktails, good but not overwhelming wine list, just the right number of pasta, meat and fish selections. There seemed to be some confusion at the front with the hostess. It was Saturday night so it was quite busy and there were times when it took a while for the waiter to get back to us. However, I did enjoy the Tuscan egg which I shared with my husband. It was only one though so not enough for 2 really - more for one person. Then, I had the scallops which came out in a lovely presentation with the scallops on top of the vegetables and sauce. Again, not the largest portion. The new dipping for the bread was also fantastic - there's room for the original oil/spices misture AND the new one. Service was outstanding. We were originally taken to a table on the aisle into the room and it was no problem to select a table where there would be less "traffic." The service was excellent the food was very good. It has been my experience in FLL that Italian restaurants use garlic such that it can be overwhelming. That was no the case here.
After we paid the check we lingered for at least 40 minutes, if not longer, enjoying conversation with friends we had not seen in years. I was expecting someone to nudge us to leave. That never happened.

I also got the mac and cheese as a side dish and that was tasty. yummy! I was designated driver so no Cosmo but sparkling water,and a lichee martini were seen at our table !
