Diner Reviews
  • "When ordering dinner we asked to ensure the soup was hot, it came it was not, when the waitress brought it back and said should be good, it was a little warmer but not to a temperature appropriate for soup. I would be surprised if it meet the temperature standards set by the food industry. My entree of walleye was the same nothing was hot at best i'd call it warm, the coconut rice was undercooked and still hard. The fish tasted good but could have been better if it was hot. Maybe try warming your plates!"

  • "We enjoyed 2 dinners and 2 breakfasts in your dining room. The second night we ordered off the menu and the food and presentation was wonderful. The same was true with the breakfasts. Both days the meals were very good, ordered off the menu. The first night we both had the buffet. We were disappointed. The vegetables were overlooked, and the flank steak was tough. The chicken was okay, just ordinary. But the service and the wait staff were outstanding. We truly enjoyed the experience."

  • "A little disappointing this time. Service was slow but friendly. There were 3 people at the hostess stand and they appeared confused and inefficient. we waited 20 min for bill and had to go to hostess stand to get it. Seems like the management was a little off this time - usually it's better."

  • "I was there for a romantic getaway and my boyfriends birthday. I asked for a table by the window and we lucked out. We had a beautiful view of the fall colors. Food was good and so was the wine. It's on our list to go back in the fall."

  • "Beautiful establishment! A little pricey for regular dining, but perfect for special occasions, dates, or anniversaries!"

  • "The food choices for brunch were great and the atmosphere was inviting . The only thing was I would like to see the food kept hotter . When I got my food to the table some of the items were only warm , but I realize keeping food in these type of containers will lose heat ."

  • "One of the best kept secrets in Nebraska. My wife and I have been coming to the Lied Lodge for our anniversary for the past 10 years and we're never disappointed!!"

  • "We had lunch reservations for 12:30 by window. Arrived at 12:15. Hostess said we could be seated. However, we got half way there and she turned and said, "I guess someone else took your seat". Asked us to go back outside dining area. She came and apologized. She then came and got us at 12:50. We got almost there and she said,"Oh, I guess your table isn't ready yet". I said what would you like us to do? She said "go back outside again. We did for second time. Came and got us at 1:00. I have Cobb salads almost all the time wherever I go. I would rate yours a 2 on a scale of 10. My husband ordered his hamburger rare and it came dry well done. Thank heaven the service was prompt and friendly. We hope our next trip will be better."

  • "We visit this restaurant a few times a year as a get away. We live in Omaha, about an hour north of Nebraska City, so we like to go for the Sunday Brunch and a nice visit in a cozy town. The atmosphere is great, rustic and warm. The food is good, but typical Sunday Brunch fare. The main attraction is the destination itself."

  • "We come here every fall for brunch followed by a visit to Arbor Day Farm. The food is always good and the building is beautiful. A brunch buffet is perfect for our 2 small kids...no waiting for food."

  • "The restaurant is in a very lovely setting and the windows are ample to provide a good view of the orchard trees. The restaurant is very clean and tastefully and pleasantly decorated. The service was excellent and the food is quite good. The omelets are terrific."

  • "I stayed at the lodge, and we ate in their dining room for Sunday Brunch. My brother, his wife my two nieces (ages 2 and 7months) and I all ate there. We had a very nice breakfast. The food was great, and the staff was very good with the kids. They brought a booster seat for the 2year old and a stand for the 7month old's car seat so she could be at table height. They were very attentive about removing used plates, and refilling water and other beverages. We were told the hotel was full and we should make a reservation for brunch, but most of the tables were empty. There were other kids eating there too, so ours were not the loudest! Great experience. If you are staying at the hotel, I recommend eating there."

  • "The view is great. The staff is kind and on the ball. The food was good -the portion size of the half sandwich and soup was a bit smaller than anticipated for the price. Everything tasted great, though, and I'll certainly be back!"

  • "They couldn't find my open table reservation, despite my having email confirmation to show them. Consequently, we were stuck in the lounge area, away from the main dining area."

  • "We had the dinner buffet and it was horrible. Food was greasy, flavorless and the AuGratin potatoes were dry. Breakfast Buffet was horrible too. Biscuits and gravy were cold. Bacon and hash browns were undercooked and the eggs were rubbery. I would actually like an entire refund. Both meals were a disaster and we were there to celebrate our 20th anniversary. It put a damper on our entire stay and we spent a lot of money. Disappointment completely."

  • "Cobwebs visible. Server, especially dinner server was very slow and there was a buffet so our ordered items should not have taken so long. Apple pie was okay."

  • "Our meal experience was excellent. My husband loved the pork steak and my ceaser salad with salmon was very good."

  • "I would have to say, for the price, you must be paying for ambiance. The food was plain, and simple and definitely not worth the price for brunch. I would not recommend."

  • "we had the breakfast buffet and the food was very good and good assortment of food. Also was very impressed with the made to order Omelets. Notice that the lunch buffet was going to have prime rib, our next trip on Sunday will be for the lunch buffet."

  • "All entrees, first courses, brie, desserts were good, except my husband didn't like the cauliflower entree. At the bar, I asked for Sangria, the bartender didn't know what that was and you don't have it; a bit disappointing, so I had a White Russian. We have been several times for brunch, a beer in the bar, dinner; we enjoy the food and the service has always been good."

  • "We went for our anniversary and you can't get into the restaurant till 5pm. Went to the bar and bought a bottle of wine. Great time. Went to restaurant at 5, amazing waitress and food was really hood. Had a great table by the window. Breakfast was a different story. We had nice table by window, but a waitress that was not a people Person and wasn't friendly at all. The food was in the most part cold and bland. We will not be making a trip down there again. Good luck if you do."

  • "The atmosphere at the Timber Dining Room was great, scenic views from every table. Our server was amazing and excited about the new menu items. We enjoyed the market salad, served with a warm crusty baguette and a really yummy house made compound nut butter. I loved the salmon, it was perfectly prepared! It was served with a carrot mousse and cranberry quinoa which really complimented the sweetness of the salmon. Then we found our way to the scenic patio for dessert. Our waitress brought us a couple great cups of coffee and the pineapple upside down bundt cake under the stars. The patio was lively and everyone was really enjoying the view and the weather. We liked it so much we made reservations for brunch and it did not disappoint!"

  • "We come there a couple times a month from Omaha. It took 45mins for burnt burgers. Management never came to table. The waitress appeared to have way to many tables, and I doubt we'll spend our hard earned money there again, anytime soon.."

  • "Our reservation was for 1 and we arrived at 12:30 and asked if we could be seated early and we were accommodated. Staff was very friendly and eager to please. We always find our visits to be enjoyable and have been there several times and plan to return."

  • "The Lied Lodge is a stunning building in a beautiful location. All it needed to be a first class establishment was a first class restaurant - and now it has it. I've long wished I could recommend the Timber Dining Room, but previous visits have been less than inspiring. Not so now - the place is great! We had an excellent meal there Saturday night. They still have plenty in the way of slabs of beef for the average Nebraskan, but the must have hired a chef who can prepare more than just rib-eyes. We will be taking more trips to Nebraska City to dine here."

  • "The locally sourced food and wine; along with the chef's vision was a wonderful experience in dining. The vision some people had years ago about this place is coming to fruition. Go with it. Grow with it. This might just be the crown jewel in the state of Nebraska."

  • "This was probably our 4th or 5th visit. Always before, we ordered from the menu. This time we decided to eat from the buffet and we were very disappointed. The choices of meat were dry and too well done. Even for the prime rib, we were told that rare was not an option. With that being said, we enjoyed the location, ambiance and the server was kind and pleasant. We will gladly visit again, but our advice is... Order from the menu for a freshly prepared meal."

  • "We arrived towards the end of the brunch reservations period. A lot of the appetizer and anti-pasta was gone and no indication that it was going to be replaced. I did not expect that it would, as the number of diners continued to dwindle as the clock approached closing time. My observation/recommendation only would be that diners plan on an early arrival, to not miss out on the salmon and capers and other tasty viands."

  • "The omlet chef was very accomodating to our particular tastes. The prime rib was fine but a bit over done. The steamed veggies were bland and over cooked. The desserts were wonderful and greatly varied."

  • "The Sunday brunch food was fresh and very good, and the lodge is all timbers and wood - nice ambience for a casual brunch! A woman was playing the piano in the background - old favorites from the 40s and 50s. Very enjoyable!"

  • "Timber Dining Room inside Lied Lodge is a great find in Nebraska City. The scenery and cuisine is a surprise in Nebraska City and well worth the trip from Omaha. They had just started using a new menu a few days before we arrived and the servers were knowledgeable about the new menu and gave valuable recommendations. We loved the short rib appetizer - plate-licking good - and both had the salmon dinner, which was melt-in-your-mouth delicious."
