  • "Recommend the bed & breakfast package. Saturday breakfast buffet offered a variety of foods (i.e., scrambled eggs, bacon/sausage, potatoes, cinnamon rolls, oatmeal, etc.). Sunday brunch offered even more with an omelette bar, waffles, & lunch fare, including prime rib, chicken marsala, etc. Enjoyable setting. Service was friendly & attentive."

  • "Three classmates met for Sunday Brunch Oct. 26. We are all turning 70 this year so needed something special to celebrate. The piano music enhanced our dining atmosphere. The buffet was inviting for every appetite. Our personal favorites were the salmon and the hot apple crisp. The beautiful fall leaves accompanied by a warm day made our celebration delightful."

  • "We stayed at the lied lodge and booked the anniversary package, very expensive. We were wanting a romantic getaway. I didn't expect the lodge to be so family oriented. The dining room was packed with families, screaming babies and spit ball throwing 7 year olds. We were seated in the middle of the room amongst all of this. It was so loud and and crowded it was un-enjoyable. The food was ok, but I would probably never come here again. There where only 3 wait staff expected to maintain the entire dining room- we waited 20 minutes for our drink order and didn't only got one out of the 2 drinks we ordered. There was also a buffet going on, which was decent but added to the crowded noise clutter atmosphere. Needless to say we were disappointed."

  • "Second time that we have hosted our small group (6) annual holiday get-together at the Timber Dining Room. The food was outstanding, again. Everyone selected the prime rib buffet - outstanding selections, outstanding food, outstanding value. The reservation time coincided with the dining room opening for dinner and the noise level was initially energetic (although not objectionable) due to numerous, well-behaved children - however, the level quickly reduced to moderate and was pleasantly quiet by the time we were ready for desert. The only notable negative was an abnormally lengthy delay between the initial cocktail order and delivery of same, which delayed the meal order. A slight blemish on an overall very good experience."

  • "My children range from 3 to 18. I loved this restaurant as all my kids where HaPpY with the food. Our waitress was fantastic. And a cross the street hidden is a lovely park for the younger ones to burn off energy before or after we eat. This was our first time to eat here and we will definitely be back. I thought the price was great for the buffet."

  • "When ordering dinner we asked to ensure the soup was hot, it came it was not, when the waitress brought it back and said should be good, it was a little warmer but not to a temperature appropriate for soup. I would be surprised if it meet the temperature standards set by the food industry. My entree of walleye was the same nothing was hot at best i'd call it warm, the coconut rice was undercooked and still hard. The fish tasted good but could have been better if it was hot. Maybe try warming your plates!"

  • "We enjoyed 2 dinners and 2 breakfasts in your dining room. The second night we ordered off the menu and the food and presentation was wonderful. The same was true with the breakfasts. Both days the meals were very good, ordered off the menu. The first night we both had the buffet. We were disappointed. The vegetables were overlooked, and the flank steak was tough. The chicken was okay, just ordinary. But the service and the wait staff were outstanding. We truly enjoyed the experience."

  • "We had lunch reservations for 12:30 by window. Arrived at 12:15. Hostess said we could be seated. However, we got half way there and she turned and said, "I guess someone else took your seat". Asked us to go back outside dining area. She came and apologized. She then came and got us at 12:50. We got almost there and she said,"Oh, I guess your table isn't ready yet". I said what would you like us to do? She said "go back outside again. We did for second time. Came and got us at 1:00. I have Cobb salads almost all the time wherever I go. I would rate yours a 2 on a scale of 10. My husband ordered his hamburger rare and it came dry well done. Thank heaven the service was prompt and friendly. We hope our next trip will be better."

The atmosphere is great, rustic and warm. The food is good, but typical Sunday Brunch fare. The main attraction is the destination itself."

  • "I stayed at the lodge, and we ate in their dining room for Sunday Brunch. My brother, his wife my two nieces (ages 2 and 7months) and I all ate there. We had a very nice breakfast. The food was great, and the staff was very good with the kids. They brought a booster seat for the 2year old and a stand for the 7month old's car seat so she could be at table height. They were very attentive about removing used plates, and refilling water and other beverages. We were told the hotel was full and we should make a reservation for brunch, but most of the tables were empty. There were other kids eating there too, so ours were not the loudest! Great experience. If you are staying at the hotel, I recommend eating there."

Bacon and hash browns were undercooked and the eggs were rubbery. I would actually like an entire refund. Both meals were a disaster and we were there to celebrate our 20th anniversary. It put a damper on our entire stay and we spent a lot of money. Disappointment completely."

Went to restaurant at 5, amazing waitress and food was really hood. Had a great table by the window. Breakfast was a different story. We had nice table by window, but a waitress that was not a people Person and wasn't friendly at all. The food was in the most part cold and bland. We will not be making a trip down there again.   • "The atmosphere at the Timber Dining Room was great, scenic views from every table. Our server was amazing and excited about the new menu items. We enjoyed the market salad, served with a warm crusty baguette and a really yummy house made compound nut butter. I loved the salmon, it was perfectly prepared! It was served with a carrot mousse and cranberry quinoa which really complimented the sweetness of the salmon. Then we found our way to the scenic patio for dessert. Our waitress brought us a couple great cups of coffee and the pineapple upside down bundt cake under the stars. The patio was lively and everyone was really enjoying the view and the weather. We liked it so much we made reservations for brunch and it did not disappoint!"

  • "The Lied Lodge is a stunning building in a beautiful location. All it needed to be a first class establishment was a first class restaurant - and now it has it. I've long wished I could recommend the Timber Dining Room, but previous visits have been less than inspiring. Not so now - the place is great! We had an excellent meal there Saturday night. They still have plenty in the way of slabs of beef for the average Nebraskan, but the must have hired a chef who can prepare more than just rib-eyes. We will be taking more trips to Nebraska City to dine here."
