  • "My husband and I snuck in a date night Saturday night and re-visited an old favorite. The food was still fabulous and the staff was friendly, helpful and very accommodating. There was one item on the menu that I was interested in but was afraid that it contained an ingredients to which I was allergic. The waiter went to confirm whether it contained the ingredients. Rather than ask me to choose another entree, Chef Freddy came out and made a few suggestions on how he could modify the dish to fit my restrictions. They all sounded delicious, and I truly appreciated their dedication to making the customer happy!!"

  • "Several years since our last visit. We wanted a BYO in Morristown and decided to try Tim Shafers. We were not disappointed. Very nice service and great food! We were two couples and everyone loved what they ordered from appetizers to dessert. I usually eat fish when out to dinner, and the special was fantastic. Very fresh and flavorful. A very lovely meal, and we will be back soon!"

  • "The decor, service and food were so bad that I expected "kitchen nightmares" to be filming. We started with baked brie, the brie was war mush and didn't mix well with the cold fruit compote. For the entree we got the duck, pork chop, chicken and filet mignon. The duck was inedible and we sent it back (1st time ever done this but for $30...) everything else got "edible". For $30 an entree this is ridiculous. In summary, don't waste your money or time."

  • "We had a great evening, the food was good. We had forgotten that this was a BYOB place....could get the wine, next door! Biggest issue is that given the name of the restaurant, thought it was still operated by the named chef. It is is not.....and thus some of the experience is different than I expected and the restaurant looks different than when it was operated by the named chef."

  • "I was really looking forward to my meal after having read the reviews . It starred out well since the staff is so knowledgable and friendly and the menu and specials seemed do inventive . However, they need to spend some money remodeling . Our table was lopsided and kept moving and our chairs were so old and uncomfortable i thought mine might break beneath me ( and I only weigh 120 lbs). Then as a final blow, my swordfish special entree was cold! Too bad, it probably would have been good if it had come on time from the kitchen. Will not go back."

  • "Ate there on a Tuesday night, only one other table was occupied, ultra quiet - too quiet. Food was superb as was the service. This is BYOB, but the liquor store is literally next door, 5 feet away. The liquor store, by the way stores their nicer, pricier cabs high on a shelf and they felt a bit warm to the touch to me. The bottle we had tasted wonderful, but would prefer they had a little better temp control, or at a minimum keep their nicer wines lower on the display racks - could end up cooking a wine if it sat there a long while. Anyway, I recommend the restaurant!"

  • "Came for Valentine's Day - I liked that they didn't limit the menu at all, which is rare. Very good food, but you could tell it was heavy on butter. Good, not great service - had to wait 15 minutes to be seated even though our table was ready and there's not really a waiting area. BYOB with a liquor store next door, which is convenient and nice for the wallet."

  • "This was the third time I have eaten at Tim Shafer's and the food has been very good each time. Sunday reservation at 6:00 pm for three and there was only two other tables throughout our dinner. All three groups were celebrating a birthday oddly enough. My wife was celebrating her birthday and had the fish special. My teenage son had the mix grill special which surprised me, but it too was very good. I had the BB Que chicken with roasted potatoes and it too was very good. The food came out hot and we brought a fabulous 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon to celebrate the night. I would recommend this restaurant to a friend and have already."

  • "First off, the service was outstanding. Our waiter was attentive without being overbearing, and knowledgable without being pompous. We never had to flag him or the other server down for anything. Plates were cleared and water/wine was refilled promptly. FYI...it's BYOB, and there's a place next door if you forget. Our waiter recommended the pate which was awesome. We also got the famous calamari. It was perfect. Not chewy, great sauce, had a kick. My husband got the duck. Although delicious, it was slightly well done. I had the mixed grill which was tasty: bacon wrapped chicken, bison, and spicy andouille sausage. The chocolate mousse they brought out for my husband's birthday was also yummy. Overall a wonderful night out."

  • "The presentation of each part of our meal was most notable. Definite care and time went into the presentation of your meal. But the quality did not end there. The food was delicious. We enjoyed a brie appetizer, a pear salad, and 2 of the specials (fish and pork osso bucco). Very tasty all around. We were too full to try desserts, although I was tempted with all the gelato choices on the menu."

  • "Food and service are terrific! Staff are knowledgeable about menu and are very attentive. A little pricey, but offset by no bar bill (BYO). The main room is very loud, but my husband and I were easily able to hear each other without yelling. And there's a small room at the front that's probably quieter (never sat there but you can probably request that with reservations). Will definitely go back -- alone and/or with friends, and will certainly recommend!"

  • "My wife and I went ti Tim Shafers for dinner on New Year's Eve. We were seated immediately and a great menus and wonderful service. It is a BYOB and we did. Wine glasses and ice for cocktails was on the table. We were at a table seat in a small room in the front. This room can seat ten and would be perfect for a small group gathering which I will plan for the near future. Food was superb. I highly recommend."

  • "The food was excellent, but the gem of Tim Shafers is the wait staff. Gerard is the head waiter and an absolute dear. Friendly and attentive with a personal feel. All of the waiters were experienced, kind, and professional. They paid special attention to my 3 yr old daughter and even offer "kid's meals" which are not on the menu. I marked as "kid friendly" b/c they were accommodating, but this is a lovely restaurant with warm ambiance, so suggest only bringing the little ones if they are up for behaving like a big girl or boy for the evening. :)"

  • "This was a quiet birthday celebration for our adult daughter and her friend. Food was great, with a very large selection, including venison, and other game. At 5:00, the place was not at all crowded, but did fill in by the end of our meal. The setting was very nice, perfect for a quiet dinner. Our request for a round table for our party of seven was honored. Even though we the place was not crowded, the servers were not at all happy to be there, and seemed to be doing us a favor, when they took our order, brought our food, etc. Not sure that I would go back"

  • "Went with my daughter and my friend and her daughter. All foodies. We have been going for years but was new to my friend. Food was extremely well prepared and delicious and creative. I would say the southwest influence has grown in the preparations more influentially. Service was timely, courses were not rushed or late. Waiter was helpful but not imposing. We ordered both meats and fish entrees. All were perfectly delectable."

  • "I had a 2-person business lunch at Tim Shafer's...and there was a total of two other people dining. So, it's impossible to make almost any normal review comments. I am also carefully watching what I eat, so I only had soup and salad, my tablemate had soup and jambalaya. So, what can I say? Certainly the waiter was attentive...he had little to distract his attention. The tomato soup was excellent, the Caesar salad was good, nothing special. The jambalaya was spicy, but not too much so...the entire serving was consumed with relish. We didn't have dessert, we brought our own (split of) wine, so nothing to say about those categories. I will return, though, for a more complete experience."
