Of the several restaurants owned and operated by Maria Hines, this is the best! It's cozy and charming (romantic) but the night we were there it was quite crowded due to the ongoing Restaurant Week promotions. The tuna was delicious. Excellent wine pairings too! If you happen to go during the late spring and summer, the outdoor seating area is charming!

I made the reservations for my husband and I for our anniversary. We chose the five course tasting menu and it was wonderful. My favorite was the Apple celeriac soup. Each course was explained by the server and the whole meal worked well together. The servers were all very attentive and pleasant. It was a great special occasion dinner and if we come to the area again we would surely eat here again.

I've walked by this place many times and wondered if it was even open as it seemed so quiet. I decided to give it a try during restaurant week, which was a brilliant choice. Once inside the little house which is Tilth, my husband and I felt as though we'd stumbled upon a large hip dinner party - it was lively and welcoming inside, full of people celebrating life with excellent food and wine. Many of the menu choices were intriguing twists on familiar foods, such as roasted chicken finished in duck fat. We'll return again and again!

We did the restaurant week menu - so I'm wondering if the regular menu items are better. The food was ok/pretty good. I would have enjoyed it if it had been at a "regular" chain restaurant. But I think places, like Tilth, should be held to a higher standard. The risotto was way undercooked, very crunchy (probably intended to sit warming for longer - for the larger restaurant week preparations). The chicken was good, but supposed to be confit and the taste was a little bland for confit. The kale under the confit was great. Our server was very attentive, and everyone was working very hard in a very small space. The wine pairing was very good - they have a very good selection. The meal was good, but very unconvinced it was worth the $ level.

SO and I came here for Seattle Restaurant week. Our server was fantastic. And the ambiance was great: their choice of music (mainly Sinatra era/style tunes) was spot on and set a great atmosphere in the cozy dining room. Overall, the food was great - the highlight dishes for me were the Tuna Croquette and the Chocolate Ganache Cake. The cake was fantastically decadent and the croquette was perfectly cooked, crispy outside and perfect inside. The one slightly down point was the semifreddo, which was a little too frozen/solid, but the server quickly corrected that by bringing us another chocolate ganache cake instead.

I went to tilth for the first time during seattle restaurant week and is a little bit disappointed. I get the soup for appetizer, it is creative, and a good one as well. For entree, i get the pumpkin risotto with goat cheese and is a bit disappointed. it is simply a creative, yet weird combination. I can only eat half of the serving size. I switch the dessert from pumpkin to chocolate cake at the last minute and was right! (my friend get the pumpkin one and is simply weird) The quality chocolate cake used is great, so are the mousse(?) on the top of it. You can taste the seasalt from eating the cake, which, to me, is a great one, though is said to be less creative. The service, nonetheless, is absolutely wonderful.

I had first seen the chef on Top Chef Masters, and resolved to visit, when I saw Tilth on the SRW list, I knew it was meant to be. The restaurant is in a small former house, so it's quite cozy, but very beautifully decorated. It definitely has an intimate atmosphere. After our server took our order she came back with a surprise amuse bouche. It's always fun to feel like you're being treated! The two stand out dishes were the pork belly and the sasparilla. I could probably have both every day and not tire of them! Couple that with prompt friendly service and you have a winner!

We haven't been to Tilth in a while, however we've always had delicious brunches and dinners here in the past. This past dinner was incredible. Each dish was delicious, we did the tasting menu, a bottle of champagne and two wine pairings. All were fantastic. The tuna belly, steak and the theo chocolate dessert were the highlights. As was the bottle of champagne the sommelier helped us select. The only thing I don't love about Tilth, is the tables are incredibly close to each other. So if you're a lively bunch (us), or a couple on their anniversary, you're cramping each other's style trying to both enjoy yourself, but not bother your neighbors who are about a foot away.

Celebrated at Tilth for a birthday brunch. Reservation was for 4, but a second table was quickly adjoined to ours when we arrived as a party of 5. We appreciated that, since most places would just crowd in another chair at the end of the table. We were also given two complimentary loaves of banana walnut bread in celebration of our son's birthday. Yum! The menu selections, food, ambiance and service were all quite excellent.

We ordered a bunch of their small plates. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and brought our food in the right order and spaced it nicely so we didn't have 10 plates at our table at once. The food itself was really aromatic and flavorful. Our favorite for the evening was the steak. We'll have to come back to eat just the steak in the large plate option. It's definitely pricey, hence the fine dining tag, but it's worth the experience esp if you are celebrating, like we were.

The imagination and execution of the chef and her team is unbelievable. Pairings of items you wouldn't consider came off perfectly (mushroom pesto papardelle over a corn paste, watermelon slices with feta, salmon perfectly cooked with zucchini 'pasta'). Waiter was very knowledgeable and a nice guy to talk to over the 2 hour tasting experience. Great looking space inside and out. Music choice initially was odd for the environment (upbeat jazzy pop), but replaced by a perfect sound (French mellow jazz).

The food was great - flavor, texture, presentation. Service was very good. However there seemed to be a lighting war going on with the staff. Lights would go up, then get turned down. We asked for them to be turned up because we were unable to see the presentation of our food. We actually turned our flashlights on to see the food - not good. Also 3 of us had to wait while the 4th person in our party had to send her entree back because it was not done as she had ordered it. By the time she got it, our food was warmish and we had waited about five minutes - unacceptable. Would I recommend Tilth - with these issues noted - very loud, lighting poor.

We used to love Tilth, really. It was definitely a place to find really great food thoughtfully prepared. The ambiance was great with limited seatings during the night, and servers that always insured that your wine glass and water were refilled. I want you to please note the past tense. Now, what can I say. Our first course was slapped down in front of us with the person running off. No mention of the preparation and worse, no seasoning on my tomato salad. Some salt or pepper would have gone a long way. The salmon rillette was actually a mousse, and a chef that doesn't know the difference should be called into question. But still, we had hopes from there that were quickly dashed. The chef has no idea how to balance flavors. Sad.

However, our waiter was not very helpful, did not even attempt to explain the tasting portions or options on the menu. He was cordial and answered questions when asked directly but I am definitely used to a more engaged wait staff that represents the menu and theme of the restaurant.
