Diner Reviews
  • "My husband and I came for dinner. We had so much fun! Our server was excellent, the music was excellent, and the food was...excellent. I recommend the caesar salad and the bucatini puttanesca. While we were there I learned that they have happy hour every day. We will be returning!"

  • "Went here with a Price Fix coupon from Groupon. Boy was I disappointed."
    Dined on 1/30/2014
  • "We got a coupon deal supposedly worth $106 for $49. There's no way the food we had [2 apps from very short list, 2 entrees from very short list, one shared dessert [no choice], and a bottle of BV Century Cellars wine was worth $106. It was a value for $49 but one app [the soup], one entree [vegetarian pasta], and the bland chocolate dessert were nothing special so really can't recommend."

  • "We've been there many times, but shall not return on a Friday evening. At first, it was fun... the crowd coming home on the ferry, etc., but the noise level has gotten unbearable... and the band doesn't help. This time the meal took over 2 hours. We waited over an hour for our entre. Josh, our waiter was excellent, friendly, etc., but the GM came in and looked at us twice and I caught his eye, but he hurried out, They did comp us some wine, and the GM finally came over and talked with us, and we liked him, but overall, not an experience that I'd like to have again."

  • "If you're looking for a burger and onion rings with a cocktail, this may be your spot. But skip the watery blue cheese wedge salad, tough chicken main course and pasty risotto with flavorless seafood. This is a casual dining place that's trying to stretch into fine dining. The poorly-trained servers simply can't keep up with their tables. Bussers tried to clear our plates while our forks were in our hands. On a warm evening we may go back for a glass of wine and appetizers on the patio, but we'll skip the dining room."

  • "Okay, it's been a couple of weeks so I don't remember what I had. Sorry....but, the food was decent, and we sat outside and it was very nice and "Marin Mellow". Our server was fine, we had a nice time for an hour or so using our coupon for half off. No attitudes, nice people, I would recommend the place as a nice al fresco dining place to go when visiting Marin county"

  • "I had the prix fix dinner. Kale caesar is too wierd. Pork chop was the best food item. It was sitting on top of something that was chopped up. Chocolate pudding for dessert was okay, whipped cream could have helped. Ambience was nice; service was good."

  • "We made the mistake of going to the Tavern on a Saturday night, and w/ the live music, it was impossible to hear each other. The food was OK, nothing great. Overall, not a great experience."

  • "Made an open table rez for 6:45. Arrived 20 min early. Hostess spoke with my wife as I walked in from parking. Second hostess (looked to be going to check our table) walked away and we stepped aside to wait. I didn't hear what hostess #1 said (she was very soft spoken). We waited and waited while a couple tables got sat ahead of us. I then asked about our table, when the two of them (apparently forgot our faces, even though we were looking at them every time they passed) and sai "do you have a reservation?"... Omg!!! We then tried to walk them thru our rez (which the couldn't find, eventhough I had email conf.#), then they finally said "oh, we have plenty of tables. Waitress never showed up, waited way too long for any help. Hostess did all"

  • "We were staying at the hotel onsite, so eating at the Tavern was sort of a given. I wish they offered free breakfast or at least a discount for hotel guests. Our waiter was so pleasant and friendly! The food was not amazing, but it was pretty good. (had the steak w/fries). Their wine list is impressive, a lot of Napa wines on the list since they're so close by. I was happy to see they offered Chateau Montelena. There were a lot of families which wasn't very nice when the kids were being noisy. It has the potential to be a romantic dinner venue, but the kid element diminishes that. Overall I would go back again."

  • "We had another great meal with one of the Amazon Local discounts. The options are yummy and I'm a bit of a wine snob, but the Cab that is included in the deal is totally drinkable."

  • "The new chef(s) are preparing some great dishes...."

  • "With all the good restaurants in downtown Tiiburon, there is no reason to eat at the Tiburon Tavern where the food is mediocore, and the ambience is somewhat depressing. We will not be returning."

  • "Our waitress was wonderful, energetic and helpful. The Kale Caesar salads were good. We both had steak last time, and this time we had a steak and a Mahi-Mahi dish. The steak was cooked right, but the cheesy seasoning was too strong and overpowered the flavor of the meat. The fish and mussels were fine. They ran out of the dessert we wanted due to a big event hosted prior to us. The brownie was weak, the ice cream on top was good. But, we left disappointed and disinclined to return. Unlike the first time. Too bad, we'd thought we'd found a cool place to go."
    Dined on 3/8/2014
  • "The experience wasn't what I imagined. The location is central but we had to wait 15 minutes to be seated. The restaurant itself is nice, especially the outdoor seating. We waited 40 minutes for our entrees. The live music was especially loud but the covers were pleasant. Definitely easy kinks to fix."

  • "I did not know what exactly to elect, but it was a great place for date night. I loved the ambience and the outdoor area is great to sit and relax. Great service and great food."

  • "We had a 7 PM reservation and were not seated until 7:30. Food was mediocre. We won't be back."

  • "I wish I could rate it higher overall, but it just doesn't hit on all cylinders any more. We used to come here often for Sunday afternoons, this was the first time we came for dinner. Server was nice, but inconsistent (as usual). Nice ambiance inside and out. The kale ceasar was unconventional but very tasty, as was the butternut squash soup. The best thing by far was the pork chop served over spaetzle and brussel sprouts. Thick cut like a bone-in ribeye, likely the best chop I've ever had in a restaurant. There was no choice for dessert (chocolate pudding), but it tasted better than it sounded. I would still recommend checking it out and I'll go back for another pork chop! (Not enough room, check out full review on Trip Advisor)"

  • "The food here was amazing! We loved that everything was farm - fresh, and could taste the difference. It's great for sitting outdoors and there are heaters for evening diners. We will definitely be back!"

  • "the atmosphere, food and service were above average. we used a living social special and it was a great dinner-my wife loved the mussels and my pork chop wad exceptional. the only negative was the bottle of wine that was offered as a part of the special-it was poor. this surprised us as there are many, many alternative cheap wines available here in Northern California, that would be a much better choice. overall, nice evening out."

  • "We had an Amazon-Local coupon deal, $46.00 for $97.00, including a bottle of wine. We got this for our anniversary, but after reading recent reviews here, we weren't expecting much. We went, anyway. Got a very nice table outside on the heated patio, next to flaming fireplace-torches. Quiet and romantic. Very pleasant live music softly playing our favorites. We ordered from a pre-fixe special-deal menu (which I didn't note on the deal when I bought it), which is very limited. For $5 extra, you can order from the regular menu. We got the mahi-mahi and the puttanesca entrees. My husband said the fish was the best he'd ever eaten. (Saying a LOT for him, Mr. Gourmand.) My vegan puttanesca was very good, too. A lovely evening! We'll be back."

  • "Soup was tasteless; had to send the pork loin back; they ran out of mussels and didn't replace. The desert was a joke; supposedly for two people, but not really."

  • "Food well priced and good but need capable servers. I bought the Prix-Fixe dinner from LivingSocial ($99 value for $49) and dined with 5 friends. We ordered a Prix-Fixe dinner and a lot of items from the regular menu. The waiter doesn't know math. My friend's 23 years old son showed his ID and told the waiter that he was 23 but the waiter kept saying he was under age until we calculated the age for him. When I paid for the bill, the waiter totaled all items including the Prix-Fixe dinner and minus $49 only. He should have separated the Prix-Fixe dinner so I can benefit from the $99 value but the waiter insisted that it was the same. I did not want to argue with him because it would take him forever to figure it out."

  • "We took advantage of the groupon coupon. Wonderful deal. Will be back. You might want to do the same. Lots of space outside."
    Dined on 2/13/2014
  • "We had a reservation but they didn't have a table for us. We waited at the bar for 15 minutes and then got an outside table (it was cold, but they do have pretty good heaters). The food was quite good. The grilled cheese with tomato dipping sauce was excellent. The steak and pork dishes were also quite tasty."

  • "Really, the food was sad, the service was lackluster. It was not a great experience at all. The kale Caesar was ok - nothing special and the pasta tasted of burnt garlic. Sad,"

  • "I grew up in Tiburon I haven't been to Tib Lodge in years The remodel is fantastic . Outside seating, with heaters Comfy lounge area , fire pit. Great people watching. Great food. Nice presentation . Wait staff, paid " just enough " attention. We will return"

  • "We selected this restaurant for a ladies brunch. The food was good but the service was extremely slow. Considering the restaurant was pretty empty at the time, it seem like the service would have been a bit more attentive."
    Dined on 1/26/2014
  • "I enjoyed the live music, it could be heard throughout the restaurant but not at a level where a conversation could not be conducted. The food was great, except the burger that my boyfriend got was a bit bland but still ok. I ordered a pasta dish and it was delicious! The bar area is pretty quaint and it can feel private. I found very fascinating the bending wine machine they have, definitely something different!!"

  • "I bought a Travelzoo voucher for this venue and went with a friend. What I didn't expect was to eat in what felt like a back room badly in need of refurbishing. If scuffed linoleum and table tops in need of refinishing is your thing, this is the place! We were clearly seated in the 'cheap seats' I assume because of the voucher. Maybe the other part of the restaurant is better. If all you need is a quick burger this is ok. But it seems they want to be more than a 'pub food' type of place, and that just doesn't work with the venue. I did have the burger and while the meat was good, the bun fell apart instantly. Bottle of wine that came with the voucher was CHEAP, maybe $8 retail. I wouldn't recommend."

  • "The bottle of wine that we were given was awful. For the appetizers we chose the Bibb Lettuce and the Deviled Eggs. The lettuce was so drenched in dressing that it was a bit hard to eat. The deviled eggs were just OK. Entrees - The short ribs were delicious and the portion was generous. Steak frites was just mediocre. For dessert we were given a "pudding" to share. Tasty, but again nothing to write home about. We were also given two tiny, chocolate cookies that were basically the tops of Oreos covered in salt. Lastly, when we were finishing our dessert the management and servers kept eyeing our table, whispering, and staring at us - obviously they wanted us out. It was just rude and uncomfortable. Overall I wouldn't return."

  • "Food was fantastic, a little pricey but we had a Living Social prix fixe deal that made it a little more affordable. Really great food and an amazing wine list."

  • "I used an Amazon Prime voucher and the management treated us very well when we set up our reservation, but the actual wait service was a bit lack luster. Dinner was delicious -- extremely good, even the house wine that came with the deal was good and I'm a snob. Live music on Saturday 1/11/14 was exceptional and created nice atmosphere in the bar. Definitely recommend the Tavern. This was my second time, and the first time it took forever to get any service, but once we did it was exceptional."

  • "When we added 2 more people to our reservations, the staff tried to find coupons and discounts for them and when none was available they worked with us to keep the menu costs down by letting us share plates and order off the happy hour menu. It was greatly appreciated. The atmosphere was cozy and comfortable. Our hour long dinner turned into two hours while we lingered over the great food and wine. The desserts were a perfect ending, rich and filling. The staff was outstanding! They really deserve credit for taking such good care of our group."

  • "Such a welcoming environment. The decor is just my style. The food was delectable. The live music was awesome...not sure of his name but he was really good! Our server Joshua was very hospitable. We will be back."

  • "I requested a table by the fire but instead was offered seating on their sofa right in front of the fire. It was lovely, cozy, romantic. Service by Marco from Italy was excellent. He was very attentive and catered to our every whim. Not a large selection of dining options so check the menu before going to see if what they are offering is something you want. We had the mac and cheese (a side) as an appetizer. It was perfect! My husband had the burger and a beer but I had the Beef Ribs and they melted in my mouth- so delectable and a nice portion that I actually took about half back to the room and finshed cold later (it was that good). l. The house red was a merlot or cab and we chose the merlot- it was good. Will definitely be back!"
