Tiburon Fine Dining has quietly become one of Utah's premier restaurants. Tiburon is located in the south end of the Salt Lake valley in an unassuming building that formerly housed a fruit stand. But don't be fooled, Tiburon serves award-winning contemporary American cuisine ranging from pan-seared Beef Tenderloin with Foie Gras and Madiera syrup to Black Sesame-Crusted Ahi Tuna with Honey and Soy Marinated Carrots. The Crab Cakes consistently win best in the state and the salads are raved about by the locals. But it does not end with the food, service is always top-notch. Led by a staff that has been with owners since its opening in 1999, guests always feel welcomed in the warm and friendly atmosphere. And in the Summer with it's patio dining.   • "We ate here for our wedding anniversary. I ordered the special - Beef Wellington. It's a tricky dish to make, but mine was cooked to absolute perfection. My husband ordered the lame - also cooked to perfection. The crab cakes and the pork appetizers were amazing as well. I can't say too many good things about our dining experience."

  • "I didn't think it was possible for Tiburon to get better but it is. It was our anniversary and I wanted to go someplace special. In a word the meal was "fantastic." Ambience was quiet, the server/waiter was very attentive and most important the food was marvelous. Their bread and creamy spread is to die for, the salad was fresh and flavorful with caramelized nuts, slices of pear...makes it worth coming just for salad alone. My wife had the Albacore Tuna which was cooked to perfection and I had the Elk Tenderloins, juicy, delectable morsels of tender Elk, a savory delight. Then we had dessert, cheese cake with fresh blackberry compote. It was all heavenly. Will we go back...well, yeah."

  • "We tried this little hidden gem when we purchased a groupon. Everything was absolutely amazing from the seared scallops appetizer to the savory, incredibly tender slow roasted elk. We had a bottle of wine and the black sesame seed seared ahi tuna that was to die for!!! We then finished this perfect meal with the creme brûlée. Our complements to the very attentive servers and the chef who performed all this magic in the kitchen. Thank you for the best overall dining experience we've had in Utah in the 3yrs we have lived here."

  • "Tucked away in an unassuming neighborhood, I doubt I would have found Tiburon if not for Groupon. So glad I did; the food, atmosphere, service, & wine were incredible. We sat on the enclosed patio on a cold night, which was perfectly comfortable, & I will be back in warmer weather to enjoy the patio opened up. We ordered a bottle of Italian wine, the chicken breast, and the crab cakes as an entrée. The house salad is simple & delicious, but the dressing is to die for. I loved it so much I begged to buy a bottle to take home! The gelato between courses was delicious and very fresh. The service was impeccable, our waitress was the perfect combo of friendly and respectful of our privacy, and we really could not have asked for a better evening"

  • "Tiburon is one of my favorite Fine Dining restaurants. Food is excellent. Unfortunatley this night, the service was lacking. We were on a time line, and we were the 3rd table seated in the restaurant and ended up having to have our entrees packed in a to go box. Never had a 200$ to go box before. The food we did get served was excellent as always, but the other couple we took to dinner that night, said they wouldnt go back again because of the service."

  • "Tiburon is one of our favorite restaurants for just plain good food. I recently had their special which was a beef Wellington. It was wonderful. The pastry and filet inside were done perfectly and the peppercorn sauce had soaked into the pastry making for the yummiest underside. My husband always has the elk. Also, wonderful. And the jalapeño cheese grits? Yum!"

  • "I took my husband for his birthday, which I noted in the reservation comments. I don't think any of the restaurants notice the comment section of these reservations. Anyhow....We had a very nice meal my husband had the lamb and I had the elk. We each tried both and although the lamb was very good, I loved the elk and would order it again. Both my husband and I loved the house salad and would go back just for that. They seated us near a large, loud group of business men and I would have preferred to be seated away from other people. (The only thing I would change) The atmosphere is nice, the wait staff was fantastic, we will definitely return."

  • "I've always wanted to try beef Wellington, but it has never 'just happened' to be on the menu anywhere I've gone and I'm not a good enough cook to make a mockery of it at home. I finally had the opportunity to try it at Tiburon (though I must mention it was a special, not a regular menu item) and it lived up to everything I've heard about it. I eat at Tiburon a handful of times each year, and I am always pleased with the overall experience. This is definitely a place I would recommend to anyone looking for a great night out."

  • "Although we arrived 30 minutes earlier than our reservation, the staff was able to seat us almost immediately. The waiter(s) was/were efficient but not over-bearing. The tables were small and a bit uncomfortable as the laminate on the top under the cloth was pealing up. The tables were close together so noise was high but we weren't bumping into others. The food was delicious and different but high for this area. We had a polenta appetizer ($13) and the New Zealand Elk Steak ($41). Normally, we would not eat that much meat in a meal, but it was very good so we felt an gastronomical obligation to finish it. It was different and very good, but the ambiance was nothing special (see the 5 ALLs) and I've had comparable meals for less money."

  • "We loved our meal. For special occasions, since it is a bit expensive, I had filet of beef, $36, excellent, with great wine reduction sauce. Wife had lamb, very good, $35. Entrees include bread basket and salad enhanced with roasted walnuts prepared with maple syrup. They honored me with a complimentary creme brulee for my birthday. Service was attentive, waitress knowledgeable. Butter served was enhanced with roasted garlic, shallots, very tasty. Tables are not too close, chairs comfortable if not special. Glass of 3 Bears cabernet was drinkable... Ambiance could use some upscale enhancement."

I should mention that I do get cold rather easily, so I probably should have requested another table when they put us out on the back porch area so close to the windows. Easily solved by wearing my husband's jacket over my legs. Did not detract from the delicious food."

  • "Often we have gone out to fine restaurants on Valentine's Day, only to find them crowded, noisy and hurried. Though Tiburon was busy, it managed not to appear overly so. The service was perfectly timed, the food wonderfully prepared. We had just about decided to skip the Valentine's ritual this year, but Tiburon provided us a relaxing experience, despite the demands of the night. Our only drawback was a semi-noisy table of eight. I would suggest keeping large groups in a separate room, or maybe adding a business casual dress code, in order to avoid noisy ski parties in jeans."

The only issue i have is the web site would not allow us to make resevation after 5 or before 830, so we went at 5. There were plenty of empty tables when we finished our meal around 615."

  • "I was anticipating a romantic evening for two, but was kind of disheartened when ushered in to a small table with metal chairs and tile floors reminding me of an "patio" Mexican restaurant. The lights were low, and there were several diners, but the ambience is not what I would have expected in a "fine dining" restaurant. The food was presented to be high class, matching the price, but wasn't a good value. The server had the same "canned" responses to all customers when describing items like the salad, dressing butter, and dinner entrees. Sorry to say, my experience was underwhelming. If your going to drop over a hundred dollars for dinner for two ("no drinks") - I would go to Log Haven, where they don't just "think" their high class."
