Diner Reviews
  • "This restaurant had a great outdoor seating which was all taken up when we got there....I guess you have to ask for it when you are making the reservation. Overall, the food is better than anything else there. My husband and I usually order a bottle of wine but their wine list was not that great. The service was good and we would definitely go back....next time though, we will make sure to sit outside ."

  • "Love Thyme Restaurant but, very noisy. A musician was playing wonderful music; between the guests and the music - everyone had to talk very loudly to hear each other."

  • "We went for brunch here as we love their dinner options and have never been disappointed for those. However, even though the brunch selections were good, they were lacking in a bit of flavor. I would probably not return for brunch, but would for lunch or dinner."

  • "Don't really know what to say! We have been here before and had very good meals. But, this past Saturday night we went as a group of four. Each one of us ordered something different and each of us was raving how delicious our meal was! A definite restaurant we will be returning to again and again!"

  • "The front staff was so accommodating in finding a table with ample space for my crutches. The food was excellent. I am a vegan and my server was very helpful in ascertaining that anything I ordered was prepared according to my dietary observance. I only rated the food a four because my friend noted that her tuna steak was a bit dry. My sautéed spinach was perfectly prepared. It was no swimming in oil as so many other restaurants seve. The house special salad was delicious as was the portobello mushroom I ordered as my entree. I plan to done here more frequently."

  • "Although the place was very quaint I found the food subpar. My husband ordered paella and it was mostly mussels. Ordered grilled calamari salad as appetizer, not much calamari, and my chickens was dry"

  • "I have dined at the Thyme many times and my wish is to get a window table once. The place is small and they have squeezed tables to its maximum capacity. not realizing or not wanting to realize how uncomfortable it is for the customers & staff. They serve the food on these gigantic ,heavy dished were you can barely fit one let alone 2 of them. Because of the lack of space the wait staff constantly bumps into your chair which it is very annoying. he last time I dined there which was this past long weekend, there was a private event in he downstairs dinning room, so we were seated upstairs we did not have a water view but we had a wonderful attentive waiter, the food was good and I actually enjoyed the experience till the last 10 minutes.)"

  • "This spot is generally under radar in a vibrant Roslyn restaurant scene but shouldn't be. It's top notch. The setting is warm and pleasing (especially on the somewhat-tight balcony on a nice evening) and the food is excellent."

  • "Have been here before, so my nephew/wife were taking me out for my birthday. He let me choose the place. My lady friend thought this would be nice. The food was delicious as usual. I had the Salmon with salsa/tomato infusion. My lady friend had seered tuna with black grain, interesting. we had a portabello mushroom with balsamic reduction for an appetizer. My nephew and his wife had a 3 course prix fixe dinner. They said it was delicious. For dessert we ordered a key lime torte and a caramelized apple tart with coffee/cappuccino. the view of the Duck Pond was pretty and tranquil. All in all a terrific birthday dinner at a very attractive restaurant."

  • "I found this restaurant under waterside dining. We sat outside but, its a pond your overlooking, which is lovely, but before the pond is an unattractive parking lot. I wouldn't go there for dining on the water. The restauran itself was very nice, food was delicious. We were outside which was very quiet, inside was very noisy."

  • "Our experience began with an upbeat server named Michael approaching us for our drink order. We were late as far the dining hours go and still waiting for our 4th person to arrive. Michael returned with our drinks, gave us a low down on specials, took an appetizer order and assured us that they would remain open until the final party member arrived. Our last arrival got to Thyme an hour and a half late. Personally, I am viciously allergic to allium (onion family), so preparing food for me is like a sculptor carving water. Tom the owner/chef delivered magnificently, crafting a tasty app and entree, rounded out with unique and delicious desserts. Needless to say, we kept the staff an hour beyond closing time, which they did cheerfully. A+++++"

  • "my son had the grilled chicken handroll which was basically a wrap cut in half. the only problem with it was it was open ended on both ends (unlike wraps which are folded over). so when you pick up one of the halves and bite into one end, stuff (chicken, avocado or the greens ) would fall from the other end. it was a good handroll, just a bit messy with the ingredients falling out."

  • "The ambiance, view, service and food were all top notch. The staff was especially helpful and attentive. I would only add that we ate out 4 times during this particular week and this was clearly our most expensive meal. In other words, the menu is a little pricey, but for special occasions, Thyme offers a nice dining experience."

  • "We have had brunch at Thyme a number of times and have always enjoyed it. Father's Day brunch was much more expensive than the usual menu and not any different. I ordered the Eggs Benedict with crab cakes, served on a biscuit. The crab cakes were mushy and had no crab taste. They seemed to mostly be bread crumbs. The biscuit was equally mushy. The potatoes were just ok, not crisp or particularly flavorful. This was a failure of a dish!"

  • "Everything was lovely; especially on Father's Day which is usually a zoo. One thought though, for the price of the brunch I think a dessert should be included....or possibly either the cocktail or a dessert."

  • "We had a terrific meal at Thyme on our recent visit. We arrived early on a Friday, before 5 pm and sat outside on the deck overlooking the pond. We were almost the only ones there. We took advantage of their great prixe fixe special. My wife had the ceaser slaw appetizer with shaved brussel sprouts, I had the calimari. Both were excellent. She had the chicken entree and I had the sliced hanger steak -- again, both were wonderful. We finished up with selections from the dessert menu, which were a perfect ending. The service was first rate. We would highly recommend."

  • "Our party of four sat on the outside covered deck. It was a beautiful Sunday (Memorial Day weekend) afternoon and we enjoyed a non-hurried, brunch experience, with the backdrop of scenic pond views filled with reflections of surrounding homes. The service was very good (we're guessing CIA influenced). We were there for a while and never felt rushed. That is a unique attribute that is very inviting. We traveled there from Jackson Heights, Massapequa, and Medford and we will go back."
    Dined on 5/25/2014
  • "as always the food and service is excellent. the sunday price fix was a little limited with way too many extra charges for certain items. if they call it price fix then only include the items that are included. for instance, duck was extra $7 etc etc."

  • "We've dined a number of times at Thyme, and have never been disappointed. The food is always well-prepared and tasty, the service excellent, and there always seems to be a good (and non-intrusive) guitarist-singer by the bar on Saturday nights. We've found the restaurant particularly convenient when attending concerts or events at Tilles Center at CW Post College (about a 10-minute drive east from Thyme). While public parking in Roslyn Village is somewhat limited, Thyme has valet parking in its own lot. There's also al fresco dining available on a back deck facing the duck pond, although one can see the pond through the large picture windows at the back of the restaurant. "

  • "The food at Thyme is excellent. I had the Paella, which was not true Paella, but was delicious nonetheless. However, it is so noisy that I couldn't eat there again. My husband and I were out for a rare date night and couldn't have a conversation. There was a musician in the bar area that no one in the dining room could hear. Kudos to the waiter, who got our orders correct, not sure how he heard our orders. All they need to do is install a new ceiling to improve the acoustics, not sure why they haven't done that. "

  • "I had never been to Thyme before Saturday's Mother's Day brunch but upon receiving my food, I immediately texted my boyfriend that he and I needed to make a date here. The food not only looked good but tasted great. My father picked the Bloody Mary with bacon as his drink. He was amused and also loved the taste! Overall great experience!"

  • "I often go to this restaurant with family, friends and a girl's night out. It never disappoints. Excellent every time, food, service, and decor. I love everything about it."
    Dined on 5/9/2014
  • "Despite good food and a creative menu, good service and attractive ambiance, it is difficult to recommend Thyme at a time when it might be busy, as the noise level, at least in the downstairs dining room, is high enough to be uncomfortable. Also, we started our meal with a very sharp and attentive waiter, but by the end of the night, he had literally disappeared with no word of farewell. Other servers picked up the slack, but, until they came to us, we didn't know who was responsible for our table when we wanted something."
    Dined on 5/4/2014
  • "The food was presented well and tasted good, service was fine, food came out in under 10 minutes and was a reasonable price; $18 for a scone, mimosa/bloody mary/bellini, and an entrée. The yolk in my smoked salmon eggs benedict was overcooked, solid, not runny like it should be, though it was still delicious. But the room is very crowded, tables are maybe 6 inches from each other, and very noisy, you cannot have a normal conversation."

  • "Delicious food and lovely ambiance! Its become our go to place for dinner with friends"
    Dined on 5/3/2014
  • "Food was very good (especially the crispy calamari app) as was the presentation. Great view of the park and pond from the upstairs dining room. My only complaint was that we felt rushed through dinner. We dined during restaurant week and they obviously needed the table for a later reservation. We were served dessert (awesome chocolate torte ) but we had to hail the waiter back to ask for coffee as it was not offered to us. I would definitely return."
    Dined on 5/3/2014
  • "bad service. table too crowded together. waiter took our order then did not come back more than once til the check. servers did not know who ordered what. no one asked for drink orders after first round. I finally had to flag down another waiter to ask for a drink. he did not bother to ask if anyone else wanted another drink and took 15 -20 min to bring it to table. loud and tables very crowded together"

  • "The food was good and the service was Excellent. Not a kid friendly place."

  • "I had been to this restaurant many times. I had not been in awhile and I decided to return during restaurant week. I was extremely disappointed. The food was overcooked and did not taste good. All the members of my party felt the same way. The servers took away our bread and butter. They also took away our tea. I was also shocked at how rude our waiter was. He was an older gentleman with dark hair and glasses. He just did not care and treated us like we were beneath him. Considering that we ordered many more items than what was just on the restaurant week menu, and how much our bill was, I was surprised at how rude our waiter was. The valet was also rude. It was pouring and he acted like he was doing us a favor. We will never go back."
