- Handsome architectureBillCDined on 8/25/2014This is a good local Vietnamese restaurant, not as expensive as nearby Tamarine, but vastly more noisy. The food is good and the service swift. As with most places to eat, it is noisy. It is popular on weekdays with tech folks, mostly men. But go for the handsome architecture, for it once was a Palo Alto bank, and good wood and a stained glass ceiling are worth an admiring look.Special Features:I would recommend this to a friend.

Inside is beautiful and sometimes has music, which I like. We had 5 dishes tapas style this time, which was plenty for 2. The mango shrimp salad tasted wonderful, and was colorful, ample, and crunchy. I love cashews and basil in a salad. We also had roast duck in little yeast dough steamed buns that were outstanding, and skewered pork kebabs that were succulent and tender. They have a lovely dessert menu and were glad we indulged with the ginger creme brulee. I highly recommend Three Seasons.Special Features:

This time we found the seating uninteresting (a greasy smell inside sent us outside to face a bare concrete wall). The food was significantly poorer in quality than before (flavorless undercooked bok choy, for example) arriving as small expensive portions. The service was slow even though the restaurant was not crowded. We will not return.

It was good but the peking duck was meager. The potstickers were nice but it came to us slightly warm - it would have been nice if it were hot. It seems that it was not freshly made. We also ordered the grilled prawns with garlic noodles - ok - the prawns were sadly overcooked. We ordered chilean seabass and that was very nice and the bok choy was pretty good. For dessert we ordered sticky rice and mango - sticky rice was delicious. Our waitress Caitlin was very nice - no complaints there.

Highlight of our meal was the Thai snapper, a whole fish fried with crispy skin and succulent flesh and presented not lying down but as if it were swimming and turning. The salad with grapefruit pieces and cashews was also a hit. Sadly we did not order the lamb chops but we did get the "Happy Buns", duck in a steamed bun with the fixings of Peking Duck inside – very satisfying. We lamented the disappearance of the Muscadet from the wine list but enjoyed the Sylvaner from Alsace instead, and at only $36 a bargain.I would recommend this to a friend.

The appetizers took 10 mins and were just perfect. For main course, we ordered Lamb, Snapper and Shaking Beef with Garlic Noodles - straight out of the Foursquare recommendations. They were out of snapper so we ordered the Sea Bass instead. The dishes were all winners. But, the servings are very small for most Americans. 2 of us had to go for pizza after.Special Features:

Prawn and mango roll was interesting, but a bit too sweet. Papaya salad was nice, but a little too much green papaya and not enough counterbalance. The chicken salad was surprisingly yummy with many different flavors. The catfish was a little dry and bland. Udon noodles had a good mixture of tofu and vegetables, but the mushroom broth was pretty light. Ginger creme brulee and the chocolate lava cake were both delicious.Special Features:

When we went back on our own, the service was still very good but almost everything we ordered was overcooked and tough and almost inedible. The only dish that came out well was the Barbeque Pork Satay. We were particularly disappointed in the Crab Purses (overcooked and very dry) and the Garlic Noodles and Shrimp (the noodles were okay but the shrimp was inedible). We've scratched Three Seasons off our list!

Definitely coming back often, especially as my other favorites in PA are usually booked at least one week in advance and impossible to get into. We made a reservation just a few minutes before we showed up and they seated us immediately, upstairs was a fun place to people watch and take in the unique atmosphere. Seating anywhere else in the restaurant as well as outside would offer an equally great experience. Our server Gabriele was so nice and had some great recommendations for us. The building is lovely with a grand domed ceiling and good people watching potential from the balconies. The bar was buzzing with a Friday night crowd. The food however was overpriced for what it was. The fresh duck spring rolls were the highlight. Everything else was either deep fried to within an inch of its life or not sharp and flavorsome enough- overall a bland Americanised take on Vietnamese cooking. There was nothing especially bad about the experience, but having said that, nothing standout either. I don't think we'll be back.Special Features:

The good: Beautiful setting, food is fresh, tasty, artfully presented, and busboys were excellent. The bad and the ugly: Hostesses (2) and our waiter were awful. The worst service we've had in many years. Completely inattentive, unaware and uninterested that we had not been approached by a waiter for the first 15 minutes minutes, or when we wanted to order another side, or when we wanted our check. Restrooms were gross and not looked after, and it was 6:30 pm! Definitely not going back and not sending anyone from my workplace there. We want to nominate them for one of those restaurant stakeout shows!

They took the Baked Apple off their drink menu...they changed the crispy calamari recipe to now incorporate turmeric powder, and the soft shell crab roll just wasn't the same and fell apart . Our server did not really write anything down so she missed part of our order and she was more interested in getting a drink for herself than getting our drinks. And, then to add insult to injury, the waiter added his tip to the bill. There were 2 of us and he added 20% tip. Not cool!! I do not recommend 3seasons and will never go back. Not worth the prices.
