  • "Service good. Options okay. Presentation above average. Food average. Ordered: Ahi & Dinner special (fish) *excellant Ahi *Special - dry / not much flavor (thought a special would be over the top - best of the best a place would offer) Results: wouldn't go back unless friend invited and pre-selected. Not anywhere near top,of my list"

  • "Innovative dishes from this young chef. Tasty and well served. Grandson really enjoyed the purple sweet potatoes among other dishes. Don't miss this one when you're on the big Island Kona side."

  • "Nice addition to the King 's Shoppes….but really? No sides included with the dishes? The portions were small and the prices were too big to really give it a thumbs up. So bummed…."

  • "We absolutely loved our dining experience at Three Fat Pigs! The food was outstanding and the service too. Our entire dining experience was very special. We would love the next restaurant to be in Sonoma County California. So the lucky folks visiting and the locals, this is a must go to! Thank you Chef Ippy :)"

  • "Finally got a chance to visit Ippy's restaurant after the 4th of July Fireworks! Great food and service...It was a wonderful to top off the holiday! Our gang had the double cut pork chops, cioppino and proscuitto wrapped fish. Yummy!"

  • "Congratulations to Ippy on his very nice restaurant (we first met him at his take out place across the street at the Queen's Marketplace). With a lot of great choices to make on the menu (very varied list), my wife and I found just what we wanted and were not disappointed. Definite come backer on our next trip to the Big Island!"

  • "I was so excited to be going to Ippy's restaurant. We were in Maui for my parents 50th Anniversary. My whole family watched Ippy and looked forward to a meal in his place. The waitress was wonderful. She even sang a special Anniversary song to my parents that her grandmother would sing. She asked for an address so Ippy could send a photo to my kids. That was extremely kind of her. Unfortunately my mom and dad were very under whelmed with their food. I enjoyed my ribs very much. My husband's steak was over cooked and was sent back. He unfortunately didn't get his meal until the rest of us were almost done. I enjoyed my meal and my experience. But the other 5 adults were less than impressed. If I ever return I would like to try it again."

  • "I should have listened to the YELP reviews, which had some good, some bad. For me, it was ALL bad. The food was terrible. My wife had the 40-hour pork, which was tasteless. I had the BBQ ribs. The ribs were over-cooked. They put so much sauce on the ribs to mask the fact that the ribs were dry and tough. The service was bad. The waiter ran by and asked "How's the food?" and before we could answer, he was gone. About 5 minutes later, he came back with our plates still mostly full (because we couldn't eat the food), and asked if we wanted "take home" boxes. We told him, no, the food was bad. A short while later, the manager came by and asked "what's wrong", and we told him. His reply was "Well, SOME people like our food". We disagreed."

  • "We had a great evening at Three Fat Pigs. The servers and bussers were attentive but not overbearing. The food was done to our liking and lots of it! A great place to dine."

  • "We had a great anniversary dinner here and I enjoyed everything so much. Although I had been here before my husband had not. I really loved the 40 hour pork belly and would order that again, but everything we had was very good. The view of the lake is outstanding and it was a very pleasant way to celebrate our special occasion. Chef Ippy was there and it was nice to see him, as I remembered him from Top Chef. Thanks for a great evening."

  • "Just go to Roy's and save yourself the headache. My friends food was good, mine was a disaster. The server and manager seemed a little annoyed with me that my food was raw and I refused to eat it."

  • "We had a great time. There's not much more that can be said. The food was amazing (I had the rib eye--and wow!), and none of us left the table hungry."

  • " We were not impressed with the food at all. We ordered the rib eye steak with potatoes. I think they could have done better with the plating & choice of sides. Our steak came with the most bitter almost inedible side salad which was pure wilthed arugula leaves. It didn't come with any dressing either. Overall, we're disappointed. My daughter ordered the pub burger which came too raw with blood dripping on the bun. The server was kind enough to return it to the kitchen & came back with a well done burger. The service was okay. Our server was polite & checked up on us. It was our first and last time to dine at three fat pigs."

  • "...my family of 6 showed up at Three Fat Pigs just prior to our reservation time, only to be told the reservation was "not received" and that the kitchen was closed. What a disappointment."

  • "For a restaurant headed up by a top chef finalist the food fell a little flat. The pork belly sandwich was good, not outstanding. The selected Hawaiian slaw was tasteless and limp. Took some home made chips from another plate and that was not too crisp. There are so many other places to eat and so I cannot really recommend the place for the food. "

  • "I made this reservation while attending a conference for a group of 8. There were 3 people who had allergies & I noted this on my reservation. When I arrived the hostess informed us that the kitchen & wait staff had been informed & had taken appropriate measures. I was very impressed."

  • "Working off the Food TV Network appearance at first waved a flag of caution, but after receiving a local recommendation we decided to try it ! We were very impressed ! The Decor is the primary thing that is lacking and definitely "off". SO weird Ambiance inside . They REALLY should fix that! But as for the FOOD.... VERY creative, unique preparation, and Delicious ! Having also eaten at some of Highly regarded local favorites like Merrimans in waimea, and others of similar quality, I would have to rank 3 fat pigs on food higher ! especially on Flavor , and creative preparation. Presentation was not so special , and as already noted ambiance lacked . Casual evening , with GREAT Food ! "

  • "Went to 3 Fat Pigs based a glowing recommendation and were very disappointed. It was not busy, just a handful of tables, so that's not why the service was very slow - waited almost 10 minutes at table to be acknowledged. The menu is very limited, entrees are expensive and sides are extra. Nice wine selection but again priced on the high side. Our waitress was charming, friendly and chatty when the bill came and it was time to tip. Also, the "bus boy" deserves a compliment for professional demeanor and friendly, informative responses to our questions. Sorry can't give this place a recommendation. "

  • "After picking up our guests at the airport, we headed for Three Fat Pigs for dinner. I had the pork chop - so moist and succulent. The others were also happy with their dinners. I was hoping for a little more white-table type of dining, but we were fine in our Hawaii best. The only downer was that we asked for decaf coffee and in the wee hours of the morning realized we had been served caffeinated!"

  • "Went to 3 FP to take a break from Hawaiian cuisine and to relax after a long day. Sat outside on the Lanai and had a great view of the lake. Food was great with me having perfectly cooked fish special. My only negative was the German fellow at the next table with a booming voice which spoiled the mood. But I lived despite him giving me a headache. "

  • "What a fun and great food addition to the Waikoloa area. You can sit outside or inside but hey, you are in Hawaii, so sit outside. Lots of different food tastes and definitely a good new "foodie"place. Max, the owner, is lots to fun to visit with and talk about the menu while his son Ippy is the chef and has won quite a few cooking awards as of late. The Hawaiian fish is outstanding as is their smoked pork chop. Enjoy and aloha"

  • "Came to Kona to visit family. My mother was excited to take me here. Service was a joke (why take reservations for lunch when your staff has no idea what your talking about when you say you have a reservation?). Small lunch menu so you should know when you are out of a sandwich in advance. Turkey sandwich was so dry and had no salt. Sauce on chips was broken. I get finding good staff in a small town is incredibly hard but this was beyond excuse. "

  • "We had a weird experience here -- we made a reservation on OpenTable about an hour before arrival -- we told the hostess we had a reservation but she said it "didn't count" since we were within the hour. (Really?) It was a Sunday evening and the restaurant was out of most draft beers, pasta, turkey burgers, rice, (the list went on) -- the entire bottom floor with wooden tables by the windows were unseated and everyone who entered got seated up near the kitchen at what should be outdoor tables. We ordered the kids hamburger (since out of pasta and turkey burger) and crab salad, and the salmon -- all were super average -- the one outstanding item was the apple, maui onion, blue cheese tart. "

  • "We had lunch on the lanai there. Food was very very good. Tasty pu pus. Killer "Sweetie's Revenge" cocktails. Entree portions are generous but not OMG! overwhelming. Split the dessert-THAT was OMG overwhelming. But very good. Wait staff was gregarious and hilarious. only draw back was they were out of lamb burgers. Would not recommend this for families with younger children. We'll go back"

  • "The food and drinks were very good, and the waitstaff was friendly and enthusiastic (but not overly), and obviously well trained. A great overall experience. "

  • "The food and service were very good. Our server was especially gracious and helpful. Our table of 6 tried a variety of the dishes. The pork chops were especially good. We were disappointed with the uninspired setting of the restaurant and our seating next to the open front door and kitchen even with advance reservations, and timely arrival."

  • "Our first night in the area had us waiting for a table for 45 minutes at another restaurant so next night we were getting reservations! Used "Open Table" and booked a 530 at "Three Fat Pigs". Service was excellent as was the food! Dessert was amazing!"

  • "Great food. Had a party of 6 and service was pretty quick and wait staff was knowledgeable and attentive. Tempura asparagus was really good. Pork chops were as good as the name would imply. The onion apple tart side was perfection."
    Dined on 3/19/2014
  • "Nori asparagus done tempura style were too heavily breaded. Crabbie piggie salad needed some sweet notes, wasabi vinaigrette was too heavy. Pork chop was prepared to perfection. Very nice beer and wine list. Polite server, but a bit uneven."

  • "Three Pigs found in the Kings Marketplace (google maps has a bad location loaded). Great casual dining spot near the major resorts in Waikola. Ribs melt off the bone delicious plenty of "non porcine" items can be found on the menu too. Wife had ribs and I had Mahi Mahi special prepared with tapenade and prosciutto... Very good! Can be a bit loud and will be dining with families/kids but nice diversion from resort dining (and prices)"

  • "I had the aged pork chop and the crispy green salad and ate everything on my plate. My husband was waiting for leftovers like he usually gets except at this meal."
    Dined on 3/10/2014
  • "Title pretty much says it all. The food was excellent, umong the best weve had in the area. The service from the host, who was complaining about customers, the water boy who seemed to care little about empty glasses, to the waitress who after taking our order after sitting for 15 minutes. Never once came back to the table until it was time to bring the bill. This restaurant clearly knows what its doing in the kitchen but separately needs retraining / hiring or a possible management change should be explored for the front of the house. Would I recommend? Yes, the food was excellent. Would I personally return? Not likely, there are many many other dining options in the area who understand how to get the overall dining experience right."
