  • "Three Pigs found in the Kings Marketplace (google maps has a bad location loaded). Great casual dining spot near the major resorts in Waikola. Ribs melt off the bone delicious plenty of "non porcine" items can be found on the menu too. Wife had ribs and I had Mahi Mahi special prepared with tapenade and prosciutto... Very good! Can be a bit loud and will be dining with families/kids but nice diversion from resort dining (and prices)"

  • "Title pretty much says it all. The food was excellent, umong the best weve had in the area. The service from the host, who was complaining about customers, the water boy who seemed to care little about empty glasses, to the waitress who after taking our order after sitting for 15 minutes. Never once came back to the table until it was time to bring the bill. This restaurant clearly knows what its doing in the kitchen but separately needs retraining / hiring or a possible management change should be explored for the front of the house. Would I recommend? Yes, the food was excellent. Would I personally return? Not likely, there are many many other dining options in the area who understand how to get the overall dining experience right."

  • "We are a party of 6 with one person in a wheel chair. They were very accommodating and helpful not just with the food service, but in general. The manager checked on us a couple times as well to make sure everyone was comfortable. The food is interesting, but very large portions (a common theme on the islands). Everyone enjoyed their meal. Good food (not exceptional), great service."

  • "Ate here again on Wednesday, Feb. 26th at 7pm. I reserved for 15 but ended up with more people. Again, they were able to accommodate without any issues. I requested Cat(herine) to be our server again for this evening because she was wonderful the night before. Again, we enjoyed the pork belly, rib eye, and the lamb shank along with other items. The desserts were fantastic; the peach item, lava cake, and other items...simply awesome. Again, the service from Cat was impeccable. I highly recommend Ippy's restaurant...if you like good food that is."

  • "Ate here on Tuesday, Feb. 25th at 7pm. First we had 11 people and then it went up to about 14 people. They accomodated our last minute additions with ease. Cat(herine) was our server and she gave wonderful suggestions. The tataki's were great, the entrees were wonderful too. We enjoyed the pork belly, rib eye, and the lamb shank along with other items. Everyone in my party enjoyed the food and service immensely. If you get the opportunity to eat here then make every effort to try. I'll surely be back when I travel back to the Big Island."

  • "We found this place based on a recommendation from some locals. Our party had kids and adults, and everyone left more than satisfied. We sat outside next to the lake - I was nervous, but the temperature stayed mild and bugs weren't an issue. The salads were large enough to split several ways. The pork belly was melt-in-your-mouth soft, and the rib helpings were huge and delicious. The only meal that wasn't great was a salmon dish. The waiter was knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive, and even offered up a little bag of bread so that the kids could go feed the koi in the lake. The total was very reasonable, for apps/salads, entrees, drinks (beers & cocktails), and a sprinkling of desserts - ~$40 per person."

  • "After reading some not so nice reviews I was hesitant to keep our reservation but am I ever glad we did! Service was Great, food was plentiful & great & if we had time before going back to the mainland, my husband & I would definately go back. There were hardly any other diners in there, maybe b/c they had read bad reviews? Maybe that's why we had wonderful service? I don't know but it was a very good experience. My husband really enjoyed the big portion of tasty ribs & I loved the clams appetizer & crab salad. For all who have read bad reviews about this place.....Give it a try. You might be surprised! I hope you are!"

Yes, I know we are supposed to be on "island" time, but we wer seated at 6:15 and didntbgetbour meal until 8:00. We will probably not go back."

  • "Our shuttle driver told us we had to eat here, and that the restaurant was founded by a young chef who had already appeared on the Food Network. The restaurant was vibrant and stylish, with a excited, energetic feeling. The service was friendly and professional. As promised, the food was really amazing, especially the baby back ribs."

  • "The service at this establishment was very good but my wife and I expected much more for the price. We ordered the spinach salad to share, which I'm glad we did given the extremely large proportion, and were very satisfied. The problem started when the filet mignon was delivered before we finished the salad. Then, upon first cut, the steaks ordered medium were well done. Though it had a nice grilled flavor we had to send back for properly cooked steaks. The waiter quickly assured our order was escalated to the top of the line, but it still took another 15-20 minutes for the new steaks to arrive, medium-well. He did compliment one glass of wine for our trouble. Perhaps other items on the menu may be better unless you like steaks well-done."

  • "Went for dinner and ended up arriving 30 minutes early and they were able to seat us quickly. Waiter was extremely knowledgeable of the menu and offered suggestion. Was personable and attentive without being overbearing and annoying. Food was excellent, lamb was tender and flavorful. Someone ordered the fish and they said it was excellent. View is of a lake and the condos behind it, reasonably nice."

  • "First the positives: Great beer list, nice waitstaff. And that is all that was good. We ordered a steak (medium rare) and a burger (medium). The burger came out medium rare and the steak between medium and medium well. Sure this might have been a mixup where they might have been switched on how we wanted the meat cooked, but upon mentioning this, we received a well done burger and a mostly medium well-well done steak. Definitely not impressed by the food, and were barely able to stomach what we received. Would not recommend for anyone unless you just wanted to grab a drink before going elsewhere."

  • "We did not know know the area well and felt that we did not have a lot of food choices. Our hotel had a few restaurants, all good but very pricey. Three Fat Pigs has good food and the cost was reasonable compared to our other experiences. We would have gone back if we found it at the beginning of our stay. We shared a salad, salami, some cheeses, one being the lemon ricotta which we both loved and a burger with garlic fries. The burger was delicious and you can smell the fresh garlic on the fries as soon as the plate was put in front of us. The chef/cook's dad come over to our table and made great suggestions and explained how some of the items are prepared."

  • "We had a very pleasant dining experience at Three Fat Pigs. The bar tender was friendly and made great drinks. Drinks were strong yet refreshing. The food was mostly excellent. The small plates that we ordered were huge. The beef tataki was delicious and I would hate to see what a "large" plate of it would look like. The giant asparagus spears were done tempura-like and were good (again a large, filling item). The onion rings were excellent. By this time we were full and had our specialty salads packed to take home. The next day we had them for lunch (along with some of the left over beef tataki). I was close to giving TFP five stars and might have if we had ordered entrees and they were as good as I suspect they likely are."

  • "We stayed in Kona for a month and ate at e restaurant twice. A rare gem...outstanding service both times and excellent food. On,y comment would be to add a could of upscale wines to list. Bread not served, but they did offer crostini for a price, which were very enjoyable."

  • "After following Ippy Aiona on Food Network Star we were anxious to try Ippy's dinner menu. We were not disappointed. Our knowledgeable waitress lead us through the menu and answered all our questions. The menu is set up with small plates and large plates. The small could be an appetizer but are plenty large enough with the large tasty pub salad for a dinner for a smaller appetite. The double pork chop was the most tender and juicy I have ever tasted. Throughout my meal I kept picking up different flavors. It was wonderful. They picked up that my husband was celebrating his birthday and brought a wonderful creme brûlée for him for desert. We have been there several times for lunch and really enjoyed that as well but dinner was truly special."

View is the best part of the meal, but just walk over the the lake and watch it for free. A much better option in the King Shops is Merrimans, much better food, just no view."

Four of us = 200.00 (not including tip) with drinks, apps, with one of us having a salad for dinner and one of us having a burger. We wanted the ribs to be life-changing, but while they were meaty and tender, the flavor was simply "sweet'. With Roy's being in the same shopping center, one would think that Three Pigs would have to up their game."

  • "Saw their ad on Saturday and decided to chance the drive from Kailua Kona. Was greeted by a cheerful and friendly staff, who were quite familiar with the menu. Good thing too; as there were easily a dozen items that sounded great to me. Once I made my decision, the dish arrived with perfect timing at the right temperature. It as a generous proportion with a slightly elegant presentation. The taste was even better than I expected; the sweetness of the Mahi-mahi was brought out by the saltiness of the prosciutto which was itself tempered by the tartness of the crushed olive topping. The wilted spinach drizzled with warm olive oil provided the perfect background for a fantastic dinner. I can't wait to go back to work my way through the menu."

  • "As a fan of Chef Ippy, having watched him mature from an enthusiastic young man into a resourceful chef, committed to Island style `ono coupled with global sensibility, I thoroughly enjoyed our recent dinner at Three Fat Pigs. The Lamb Shank Osso Bucco was exquisitely prepared and the Asparagus Tempura and Kabocha Pumpkin balanced and complimented the savory flavors of the Lamb. From hostess to servers, we were well tended and our tight time frame respected."

  • "Ate a 3 Fat Pigs Twice. First Thanksgiving with a Prix Fixe Menu - about 75 dollars a person. Price comprable to any resort restaurant for a holiday meal. Three courses with wine pairing, Food was great as was service, Chef came to our table to make sure we were well take care of. Second time for dinner. Service was very good, very friendly staff. Prices are comprable to Roys. New restaurant so not crowded, easy to get a reservation. Can go shopping in Kings Shops after dinner and check event schedule on the Kings shops website some evenings there is a great hula show and its free! If your shopping from black friday 2013 to Christmas catch the Hawaiian Miles promotion going on. Would eat here again."
