We chose this restaurant while shopping at Kings. We had reservations at another restaurant on the beach but after my husband saw the menu, we changed. I was very disappointed and can't imagine this place staying open. Chairs and table are very uncomfortable. The service was horrible and it seemed there was one waiter the entire restaurant. Food was mediocre at best! I did have the ribs which were pretty good but everything else seemed like it had been sitting around for a while. Would not recommend! Sad because it was our last night on the island!

we were very disappointed in this place - the food was not good - our salmon and burgers were both over cooked. additionally one of our kids ordered a "pigs in a blanket" off the kids menu and the waiter failed to tell us this meant a bacon and cheddar sandwich - rather than a hot dog wrapped in a roll / pastry. they then were rude when we acted surprised that this was not what we expected. we will not be returning here

Served our salad to another customer, and then brought it to us. It sat in front of someone else for what seemed an eternity! Sure there are laws against this. We sent it back and asked for a fresh salad. The server was back within 1 minute with that same salad. Never go back!

The concept is great! Creative combinations of favors, nice beers and wines, nice location. The biggest detractor was the unpolished service. Our server was not versed in the wines, they were minimally aware when it was time to notice we needed something, and they did not pay attention to the small details that make big impressions ( like refilling wine glasses). This gastropub could become successful as the talent and desire to succeed are there, they just need to polish their service.

On the Kona side of Hawaii - North of KOA airport - you don't have a ton of sit-down restaurant choices outside of the resorts. The outdoor upscale mall /shop area at Waikoloa is where Three Fat Pigs is located. It's a reasonable place with a reasonable menu (lots of pork BBQ), a tad bit expensive, which is normal in Hawaii. Good for kids and fairly quick service. A solid meal - which is great if that's what you are after while visiting the big island.

We had charcuterie with prosciutto di parma, jamon serrano, and manchego, served with crostini in a very awkward ratio. As an appetizer we tried the beef tataki. The tataki itself is actually cooked and seasoned nicely and accompanies the mustard aioli and pickled onion well, however the beef is garnished with a micro-green that adds a flowery/soapy accent that ruined the whole dish for me. I had the bar burger which is a 1/2 lb burger, with cheddar, bacon, tempura pickles and garlic fries. The burger was alright. It was overcooked and nothing in that burger set it apart from the rest. The pickled vegetables completely lack the familiar brininess we love about them. Nothing special or spectacular. It was just OK

The food here was wonderful and full of flavor. Also the price was the best part!!! Restaurant is locally owned and one of the owners came out and said hello. Salmon and mashed potatoes was very tasty and fulfilling. I would highly recommend it and making reservations online was very useful, for we didn't have to wait.

The absolute worst service I have received from any restaurant in years. We had to remind our server that we were there, and she ignored us all night! We were not the only table she ignored, the table next to us had to find a different server to get there check. The ham on the appetizer plate was sliced way to thick, the steak was over cooked, and the service took to long overall!

Took the entire family aged 16 to 48. We All enjoyed our time at Three Fat Pigs. The service was outstanding -Lei, our server was friendly, informative and so sweet. The food was delicious, the special cocktails were out of this world! The speckled asparagus and Tabasco aioli was an explosion for the taste buds. I would recommend this restaurant highly! So delicious and fun. Best outing for our taste buds and not a hurried experience-so enjoyable. Do not die until you've tried this tantalizing place & create your own story.

I should have listened to the YELP reviews, which had some good, some bad. For me, it was ALL bad. The food was terrible. My wife had the 40-hour pork, which was tasteless. I had the BBQ ribs. The ribs were over-cooked. They put so much sauce on the ribs to mask the fact that the ribs were dry and tough. The service was bad. The waiter ran by and asked "How's the food?" and before we could answer, he was gone. About 5 minutes later, he came back with our plates still mostly full (because we couldn't eat the food), and asked if we wanted "take home" boxes. We told him, no, the food was bad. A short while later, the manager came by and asked "what's wrong", and we told him. His reply was "Well, SOME people like our food". We disagreed.

I was so excited to be going to Ippy's restaurant. We were in Maui for my parents 50th Anniversary. My whole family watched Ippy and looked forward to a meal in his place. The waitress was wonderful. She even sang a special Anniversary song to my parents that her grandmother would sing. She asked for an address so Ippy could send a photo to my kids. That was extremely kind of her. Unfortunately my mom and dad were very under whelmed with their food. I enjoyed my ribs very much. My husband's steak was over cooked and was sent back. He unfortunately didn't get his meal until the rest of us were almost done. I enjoyed my meal and my experience. But the other 5 adults were less than impressed. If I ever return I would like to try it again.

We had a great anniversary dinner here and I enjoyed everything so much. Although I had been here before my husband had not. I really loved the 40 hour pork belly and would order that again, but everything we had was very good. The view of the lake is outstanding and it was a very pleasant way to celebrate our special occasion. Chef Ippy was there and it was nice to see him, as I remembered him from Top Chef. Thanks for a great evening.

We were not impressed with the food at all. We ordered the rib eye steak with potatoes. I think they could have done better with the plating & choice of sides. Our steak came with the most bitter almost inedible side salad which was pure wilthed arugula leaves. It didn't come with any dressing either. Overall, we're disappointed. My daughter ordered the pub burger which came too raw with blood dripping on the bun. The server was kind enough to return it to the kitchen & came back with a well done burger. The service was okay. Our server was polite & checked up on us. It was our first and last time to dine at three fat pigs.

For a restaurant headed up by a top chef finalist the food fell a little flat. The pork belly sandwich was good, not outstanding. The selected Hawaiian slaw was tasteless and limp. Took some home made chips from another plate and that was not too crisp. There are so many other places to eat and so I cannot really recommend the place for the food.

Working off the Food TV Network appearance at first waved a flag of caution, but after receiving a local recommendation we decided to try it ! We were very impressed ! The Decor is the primary thing that is lacking and definitely "off". SO weird Ambiance inside . They REALLY should fix that! But as for the FOOD.... VERY creative, unique preparation, and Delicious ! Having also eaten at some of Highly regarded local favorites like Merrimans in waimea, and others of similar quality, I would have to rank 3 fat pigs on food higher ! especially on Flavor , and creative preparation. Presentation was not so special , and as already noted ambiance lacked . Casual evening , with GREAT Food !

Went to 3 Fat Pigs based a glowing recommendation and were very disappointed. It was not busy, just a handful of tables, so that's not why the service was very slow - waited almost 10 minutes at table to be acknowledged. The menu is very limited, entrees are expensive and sides are extra. Nice wine selection but again priced on the high side. Our waitress was charming, friendly and chatty when the bill came and it was time to tip. Also, the "bus boy" deserves a compliment for professional demeanor and friendly, informative responses to our questions. Sorry can't give this place a recommendation.
