Had a wonderful dinner with my husband. We both had a variation of filet and both were delicious. The waiter recommended a red wine to my husband and it was absolutely perfect. We will be back.

My wife and I and another couple were staying in the St. Michaels area for a weekend, and I had made reservations at three restaurants in St. Michaels. I was a little suspicious of a steak restaurant in a seafood town, but it turned out to be a very good choice, and I was very pleased that we dined there. Two of us had petit filets and two had prime rib. Along with salads and baked potato, we were very pleased, and the service was excellent.

We went to dinner to celebrate our anniversary. I called ahead about bringing our our own bottle of wine, a $15 wine that my wife enjoys and is not on their wine list. I was told that I could bring the wine to celebrate our anniversary, but would be charged a $35 cork charge. Happy anniversary wishes from Theo, I guess. That will be our last visit.

We enjoyed dinner at Theo's over Labor Day Weekend with a group of friends and sat upstairs. It was as personable as downstairs but very conducive to enjoying conversation as well as food. We would eat here again ... as a couple or with a group of friends.

  • Good, but doesn't live up to cost.

Vibe inside the restaurant is very cool. Great space, lively, friendly staff. Wine list is surprisingly reasonable for some pretty decent wine. But bartender didn't know how to make a couple pretty basic cocktails and seemed uninterested in learning. So I simply ordered a scotch neat, which she filled with ice cubes. Caesar salad tasted like soil--lettuce had clearly turned. Steaks were very good--I had a USDA Prime filet rare and it was cooked perfectly--but the $50/8oz price tag is what I'd pay in NYC. Crab cake decent but some filler involved. Smoked mac n' cheese and broccoli for sides, again both pretty good. All in all, a good meal, but you can do better things with your dollar within walking distance.

Everyone should spend an evening at Theo's when in St Michaels! We have been many times, as we spend most every weekend in St Mikes. The food is always fantastic, the service outstanding (Gary was our amazing waiter last weekend!), and the vibe can't be beat!! Just the right mix of regulars (locals and weekenders) and tourists. For a quiet evening book a table, but if you want to meet friendly folks and have good conversation, sit at the bar and you will never be disappointed! We are so glad to have access to this gem!!

My husband and I celebrated our 10th anniversary at Theo's and had a delicious dinner and a very pleasant experience. The petite filet and crab cake combo was perfect...one of the best crab cakes I've ever had and the steak was tender and tasty. When the owner heard it was our anniversary he sent a split of champagne to our table. I highly recommend this fine establishment.

Theo’s has excellent food. The service varies from outstanding to way below acceptable. Last night we were a party of three with reservations. Among the highlights: Waiter had to be reminded twice for a second glass of wine. One fork was taken with the salad plate, and a fresh one was promised. Waiter had to be reminded to bring the fork well after my steak was served. By then it was quite cool. One salad plate was not removed before the main course was served. Waiter stood juggling platters pleading with us to remove the salad plate for him. In general, the waiter was not attentive at all. There was no checking to see how we were doing; we always had to summon him for service. Last night may indeed have been our last night at Theo’s.

Theo's is consistently good and the menu has been updated for the summer. We have dined there many times over the years. Most times it has been very good; sometimes at worst, it is just good. Can't beat a steak with hand-cut fries as the default order.

As always, a consistently great dining experience featuring truly fine steaks (of course) from the bistro steak frittes and Delmonico, to perfectly crisped softshell crabs that are second to none. The bar area is a visual delight and Bill Redmond, whether bar tending or managing, can always recommend a wine that delights and surprises, like a red sancerre or a phenomenal pinot. Our server, Katy, brought not only joy and humor to our table, but can be depended on for a suggestion, whether an appetizer, entree or desert. If a fan of Smith Island cakes, you might find one here as topper to the perfect meal. Plan on having a grand repast in a entertaining and engaging environment.

clearly one of the top 3 or 4 restaurants in St Michaels, right in the center of town in an older building, handsome rooms. Good, attentive service, and the kitchen turns out really superior fish and meat dishes. But the prices are equal to or higher than what you'd pay for the same (excellent) meal in downtown Washington (where you'd find even better service and more elegant surroundings) -- so why the super-high prices? Definitely worth going to but perhaps not frequently.

A rare twice in one week visit with new local friends. We were not disappointed ! They are always adding something creative to the menu and keep that killer wine list up to date. Consistently great food and the staff always makes us feel like we are special. We stayed a little late....sorry........but we're having such a great time that we lost track of time! But they were totally cool about it. No rushing. Can't wait to go back. Thanks again guys!

Excellent service as usual that always found us at just the right time, an herb-infused dipping oil for French rolls that tricked my mind into thinking I was having a salad (who wants a salad when you can have bread sopped in extra virgin olive oil?!), an amazing blue cheese and onion fondue that left me unsuccessfully left me trying to suppress a groan of pleasure at the first bite, and braised spareribs on a bed of bacon-cheese grits and creamed spinach that I can thankfully still taste when I close my eyes three days later. To even begin talking about the densely delicious salted caramel brownie for dessert would just be too much so I'll stop there until my next visit to Theo's!

Entertaining, engaging with food that delights, surprises and makes for a wonder-filled evening. Delmonico is second to none, rockfish with corn/shrimp remoulade a treat to revisit again and again, topped by a wine recommendation of a red sancerre (thanks, Bill) that brought it all together! Service made us feel at home and the interior decor/bar area is hard to beat for a comfy environment to visit with friends. All the best and congrats on doing "consistently great" so very well! Once again Theo's gave us an amazing food and wine experience. They called ahead and alerted us of a big party upstairs that may impact service. So we went a little earlier. Turned out no impact but we appreciated the heads up. Nice touch! The greeting at the door was friendly and inviting, the service at the table was spot on and the wine we selected was perfect . We brought out of town friends and they were duly impressed! We had the special, short ribs over polenta...(mmmmm) and rockfish encrusted with corn and shrimp.....just amazing. Prompt service but not rushed, lively environment but not loud, just right on a special night! Can't wait to go back.

were here 2 years ago for our anniversary on recommendation from local merchant; had a fantastic meal so when we were able to head back again for our anniversary, I immediately booked a table. treated us to a split of procecco (ironically we had same waitress as before; who was excellent). shared a bottle of alamos Malbec, the wedge salad, porterhouse, which was cooked perfectly, grits with cheese & bacon, not my favorite but could have eaten the entire dish! as well as creamed spinach. oh and the rolls!! desserts were sea salt caramel bread pudding and brownie sundae. portions are meant to be shared; you'll have leftovers. quite the gem!
