Good and bad... The ambiance and service were wonderful. Most of the food was great. However, they were out of filet mignon which is what we came for. (This was forgivable because they are new. So, planning for a event weekend needs work.) The steaks that we had instead of the filet mignon were VERY gristly and very overpriced for what we got. I was fighting with my steak and finally gave up. The salad, sides and dessert were delicious.

My husband and I celebrated his birthday with dinner at Theo's. This was our first visit to Theo's but it won't be our last. The filet mignon was perfect and the potatoes were great. The salad was huge -- enough for two. Delicious creme brulee.

We love Theo's because we can walk a block and we are there. Everthing we have ordered has been perfection and he uses local markets in our town.and names the burger Litty Burger for the market he purchases the beef. Love the staff. As of all Chris's restaurants he has done a superb job. I have never done a market survey before, but feel stongly about him and what he has brought to our town. Mary LOU McAllister

Theo's was recommended by everyone in St. Michaels, so how could we pass up. Great barman, hostess, server, everything meshed stupendiously. The filet mignons with crab cakes left us left us in awe, the dessert left us wanting more, and the 7-Zins left us merry. The ambience and clientelle were well balanced. No doubt about it. Theo's will soon become the attraction in St. Michaels. Noooo doubt about it. Put it on your restaurant list. You won't be disappointed. Will be back again, and again, and ......

One of the best steaks I've had in years! All 6 of us at dinner agreed Theo's, far and away, is the best place to go for beef on the EShore. One steakhouse expert at our table, whose caricature has graced the wall of a prominent spot in DC for decades, said Theo's wins hands down outside the Beltway. Another said you can judge a steakhouse by its sides and Theo's were all great. Special kudos to hostess Audrey as well.

My steak was great, lively place, all the right make up for success! I believe growing pains is the summary. Our food was presented- the main without the sides. The server forgot/or the kitchen to enter / or make them. I finished my steak before the sides arrived- which is not a "good or better" dining experience. Our sides were comped and apologies were given. We will go back, and anticipate a better experience.

I am writing this review but please keep in mind that the restaurant has only been open for 6 weeks and needs to work some kinks out still. Restaurant was crowded but we were seated after only a few minutes, this was not however the case of other guests who had the same number in their party but had been there waiting before us. We luckily were seated near a private window near the bar which might have annoyed some guests but with the crowds this was the perfect spot. Server was friendly and attentive but her job was held up by the slowness of the kitchen. Food was all good, especially the tortellini mac n' cheese and onion soup. Steaks were served room temperature but after 1.5 hours, I was not sending it back.

We had planned to try the fish & chips, but prime rib was the special that night--and, it was special. Both were cooked to order; one rare, the other medium-rare. The portions were very generous and whipped potatoes were a nice accompaniment. Our waitress, Audrey was extremely attentive. The fire provided great ambiance on a chilly autumn night. Now we'll have to come back for those fish & chips!

Another home run by Chris Agharabi ! With Harley Peet as head chef, Saint Michaels now has yet another finery dining establishment to enjoy! The warm and inviting interior is comfortable, with a casually elegant feel. The antique bar with modern leather seating is the perfect blend of old and new. And then there's the food. Come here for a steak with classic sides like creamed spinach or double baked potato. But there are other finds on this menu. The scallops are a delicious alternative to the veal chop and rib eye, as is the tortellini mac and cheese. A fantastic wine list, well poured cocktails , a caring and well versed staff all contribute to a light hearted and fun night on the town. Bravo Chef Harley!

Our filets were cooked to order (medium-rare) and tender and the veal chop was generous and well-seasoned. The "sides-for-two" are generous and tasty: all of us have always disliked brussels sprouts until we tried Theo's; we could have eaten a bowlful. Staff are helpful and attentive and honored our Open Table request--Thank you!

  • A Steak House comes to St Michaels
    OpenTable Diner Since 2006
    Dined on 10/22/2011
Theo's has filled a niche in St Michaels where there has not been a traditional steak house of the Morton's or Ruth Chris' variety. Choices of steaks range from filet mignon to 48 oz porterhouse. There are other entree items such as salmon or diver scallops. The crab ball appetizer is a gem. Steaks come with a choice of sauces- butter, bernaise, etc. Decent wine selection by the bottle and glass. The "sides" are ordered separately- include different styles of potato, broccoli, brussel sprouts etc. The salmon entree included twice baked potato and broccoli. There is a bar with high top seating on one side of the restaurant. Main dining room has fireplace and 3 tables and was quiet. There is also a back room w/more tables. Decor a plus.

Was really hoping that due to the fact that Theo's (who specializes in steaks), would serve a thick, buttery and tasty Filet Mignon, however, the steak that arrived was about 1/2 inch thick and flavorless. Also had the onion rings, house salad and mushrooms with garlic which were all mediocre. Very disappointing, as the neighboring two restaurants that are run by the same owner (Akai and Ava's) are fabulous. The atmosphere of Theo's is beautiful and very comfortable, however.

    Dined on 10/7/2011
Theo's had only been open for business a short time when I had eaten there, however, even in it's "soft opening" I found everything to be up to par. I frequent the other restaurants of the same owner and find them all to be wonderful. The service, decor, and especially the food were all great. Thick cuts of meat and fresh ingredients were the best aspects of the meal. My only criticism would be the portion size of the sides, as well as the sides in general. I'm sure that the Steaks and Chops are the supposed to be the highlight of the meal, but I feel as if there is room for improvement when picking a potato. Fries, mashed, baked, another baked. Why not a sweet potato, or a corn dish as a side. Get a little more creative with the sides...
