What We Do:

Gastropub refers to a bar and restaurant that serves high-end beer and food.[1]

The term gastropub, a portmanteau of gastronomy and pub, originated in England in the late 20th century. English pubs were drinking establishments and had little emphasis placed on the serving of food. Then that all changed. theMINT is an AMERICAN Gastropub that focuses on premium food and beer as well as premium spirits, cocktails, and martinis.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "The food was good, the service was very good. Over all it is a neighborhood gem, the bar does attract a younger jet set which made for a noisy atmosphere. Great place to have a lunch. The hamburgers were of a large size with the toppings and looked delicious. I had a sausage board for a starter, and it was very good. My wife order oysters as a starter, I tried one and they were so tender a melt in your mouth. Her main entree was the scallops and she enjoyed them very much. Overall a nice restaurant. The mint the perfect name for a former bank building. Everyones opinion counts, for a make it or break it. I think it is a make it. "

  • "I have sampled a very large variety of the menu offerings ranging from the indulgent bone marrow or the truffled lobster mac and cheese to more restrictive vegan dishes (the "Whirling Dervish" was my fav - but it has unfortunately been removed from their ever changing menu). I am sad to say that they have changed the recipe for the mac and cheese - it was once a homey baked macaroni dish, now it looks like it may have come from a blue box. There once were delightful speckles of truffles throughout the dish which have now been replaced by a drizzle of truffle oil. The vegan dish was equally disappointing. It was a tofu scallopini something or other and, although the portion was quite small, it was difficult to eat even half of the dish."

  • "We went to Mint with friends, it was our second time here. The food was terrific, but don't plan on watching your cholesterol or anything like that. I had a pork belly sandwich that was really terrific. Someone else ordered the special that was a pulled pork with crispy chicken skin -- again, not a diet meal but a superb one. The lobster mac and cheese looked great, one of our tablemates ordered it and I could see big pieces of lobster sticking out of the pasta. The last order was a patty melt and although it was fairly messy to handle, got great reviews from the person who ordered it. The drink menu is very good and our server was attentive."

  • "Back for a third time -- time our son who was visiting over Easter. Service was great (as usual). Love the food, it's always great. I went with the lamb this time while my wife had the scallops. The lamb was the best I've had anywhere. Tried a cocktail this time, will hit the the beer list (again) next time "

  • "Great food, excellent atmosphere! Love the Draft selection. Also, I highly recommend the pork shank!"

  • "Service was very friendly, every "extra" was attended to promptly. The drinks were STRONG! Apps. were delivered fast; hot and decent sized. The turtle soup (with a 60 minute egg added) was amazing. I've never had it before, but if this is how turtle soup usually is, it's a new favorite. The shrimp & grits was quite spicy, but the shrimp was cooked perfectly. The liquid cheesecake was an outstanding, delicious dessert. And the coffee, in great big mugs, was strong & hot (I hate lukewarm coffee in little cups!). Dinner wasn't cheap, but you get what you pay for. the Mint is a great place for a special occasion."

  • "This was my first experience at The Mint. The menu was impressive with something for everyone. I was pleasantly surprised at the flavor of my dish. We had great service from Drew who was both attentive and informative. It was a bit difficult to hear some of the dinner conversation because of the noise level but it would not deter me from returning. I really enjoyed dining here!!!"

  • "I've eaten at The Mint several times now (weekdays) and have had a consistently excellent experience. The service is really top notch; knowledgeable and considerate. The menu has several interesting choices and will appeal to the foodies. Really, something for every taste. Especially if your tastes runs to the savory. The beer, wine and cocktail list is long and excellent. There's a full PAGE just of IPAs. Mid-Century Modern décor and a terrific music system; great selections, perfect volume, round out the experience. Oh, yeah, you can eat at a table just outside of the vault...The Mint used to be a bank."

  • "We were in Bethlehem to attend a concert at The Sands. We took a chance and searched for nearby restaurants. So glad we did!! When we approached the destination, we found ourselves at a former bank. Ah...The Mint...I get it. It was so cool inside. It was still a mid-century modern business building, complete with night deposit box, but with a cool blend of classic chrome padded dining sets. We got there at 530 and were seated quickly. The beer selections were amazing. The waiter was friendly and informative. We shared the sausage board and really enjoyed it. My boyfriend had the Chicken and Donuts. Tender fried chicken with blue cheese glazed donuts! Yum yum! I had a juicy patty melt with frites. So darn good! The popcorn was the best ever!!"

  • "Finally tried the mac & cheese this trip...did the chipotle & bacon (ridiculously good!). We didn't need two sandwiches after that, but our leftovers made a great lunch the next day. Beer selection was great and our server was phenomonal."

  • "Tried out The Mint for our anniversary night dinner and was very pleased with the overall experience. When we walked in it was very loud but the hostess brought us to a cozy corner by the vault to "get away from the noise" which was very thoughtful of her. Beer list was extensive and the food options were different but in a fun way. We ate the frites with 60 min egg which was delicious. I was daring and tried the chicken and donut entree. Donuts were drier than I thought they would be and the chicken tasted like your basic fried chicken but happy for the chance at something different. Husband enjoyed his shrimp and grits and the truffled Mac and cheese was to die for. I want to go back and load up on all varieties of their Mac and cheese!!"

  • "Had dinner Saturday night.. as always terrific!!! We love the food here, great beer list! Had the brisket sandwich which was delicious and the cheese platter for app. Everyone else's dinner was delicious! We always enjoy coming here!! Will definitely be back!"

  • "Great concept restaurant with a wonderful menu and a ton of drink options."

  • "For our first visit to Mint we were seated in the back of the restaurant next to the safe deposit boxes, as quaint as that sounds we felt like we were put back in the corner with little to no view of the restaurant. The wine by the glass was very limited, who doesn't have Pinot Noir by the glass? The service by Jason excellent and the food was very good but a very limited menu. We would try it again maybe before or after a movie and try a burger."

  • "Great drinks and food at The Mint! I enjoyed both the Pom Pom and Lychee martinis along with chick pea fries for an appetizer. Might sound silly, but I LOVE that my sandwhich came with tater tots instead of french fries. No one at my table was unhappy with their dinner. A friend tried a dessert involving brownie, peanut butter and general goodness. It even came with a glass of milk! Great attention to detail and outstanding service. Will definitely go back!!"

  • "It was our first time there. The menu was unique but we had difficulty finding a varied seafood selection, as it was a Friday in Lent. Settled for an oyster appie and was not disappointed. Hubby sinned and ordered the lamb which he enjoyed immensely. Looking around at the clientele, we noted we were well over the age of any of the other diners. Made us feel a bit uncomfortable until the young couple seated next to us made recommendations. It was a pleasant experience."

  • "The evening started off well. Lots of beer selections--husband chose a draft which he enjoyed; my mixed drink was unusual, not too sweet and potent. The bowl of kettle korn was a nice touch. However, the mussels frites was a miss. About ten french fries made soggy underneath a modest serving of mussels and "lobster bisque". The bisque was flavorful enough, but no lobster. And there was no bread to soak up the remaining liquid. I've had much better--especially for the price. My husband's mushroom mac and cheese was nothing special. Again, especially for the price. The small salads we ordered to accompany our meals were well-executed."

  • "This was our first time here and we will definitely go back again. The food was unique yet with some comfortable favorites. We love that this was once a bank and it is so cool that the vault now holds wine. Our waiter was excellent. The popcorn served before our meal was excellent. Our dinners were very good. I had the Maryland mac & cheese and so did another person in our party. Not the best I ever ate but still very good. My friend had the pork shank and loved it. It was HUGE. My husband had the burger. A good American meal. We will be going back. It was a fun, unique, casual experience. Oh, and the beer list is outstanding."

  • "We ordered the lobster wontons as our appetizers and they were excellent. For dinner, we ordered the fish and chips and the scallops.OMG-they were awesome as well! Overall, we had a great experience! Will return again if I'm in town."

  • "I took my sister out for her birthday. We shared the Lobster Macaroni which was delicious. We both had mixed greens salad which was very good. I ordered the fish & chips & my sis had the scallops. We both were very happy with our meals & both had leftovers. Service was excellent. Our server was very friendly and attentive. If I had any compliant it was that the tables are too close together so it is near impossible to have a private conversation with your dinner party. I was sitting up against the wall, but my sister was sitting in the main foot traffic path so her chair, purse, coat was bumped several times during dinner. We both had some drinks with dinner as well. After dinner we decided to sit at the bar. The bartenders were excellent."

  • "Had I not seen this restaurant on Open Table, we may have missed out on a great find! The waitstaff is friendly, attentive, helpful and overall amazing. The food choices were delicious and unique (definitely try the chick pea fries), and they happily accommodated the vegetarian in our group. The beer list is extensive. We highly recommend The Mint!"

  • "Love eating here. You will find items you won't find anywhere else. They change up the menu from time to time so you will find something new to try. Have had great entrees as well as sandwiches. Last time had the Beer Braised Brisket sandwich. It was delicious! If you are a beer drinker, they have a beer menu!"

  • "The appetizer we ordered (cheese plate with pretzel bread) was below average. The pretzel bread was stale. The fish was extremely greasy. Both of my kids ordered cheese burgers. One with cheese, bacon and lettuce the other just cheese. The rolls were stale and the burgers was dry. My wife ordered diver scallops. They were overcooked. Our server told us "the chef likes to use his own language and phrases on the menu so if we had any questions ask". I usually am not in the mood to pull out my zippy decoder ring when I dine out. I don't want an interpreter when I peruse a menu. I want to know exactly what I am getting. I would not recommend this place and I will not come back"

  • "I love this place! The fare is always top notch and the ingredients are always fresh. I have yet to have something off the menu that I haven't absolutely loved. The menu changes quite often in order to mix things up for those of us that frequent the establishment. The staff here is all very knowledgeable about the menu also. If there is ever any question about something, they will go into detail about what exactly the dish is all about. Very solid beer list as far as bottled beer goes and the taps always have something rare and interesting rotating. Just had a Jolly pumpkin Biere de garde and it was delicious!"

  • "Made the trip out on a Tuesday evening for a dinner with a few co-workers. We had the chick pea fries & Lobster Won-Tons to start and both were excellent (lobster won-tons a bit more excellent). I had the lamb for dinner and it was prepared exceptionally. Thumbs up!!! The beer selection is excellent and one of the tops in the valley. The noise level was a little high for some of my co-wokrkers so keep that in mind (I thought the noise level was fine). All-in-all I'm looking forward to going to The MINT again, hopefully in the near future."

  • "We dined here twice in recent weeks - once at the end of Jan and once in the beginning of Feb. Both times we were told that they were in a menu transition and, as a consequence, there were items on the menu that were no longer available. Okay on the first visit, but by the second visit, the waiter rattled off SEVEN items that were no longer available and then added two more that they had run out of for that evening. While I appreciate a seasonal, rotating menu, this particular situation was very disappointing. Add to that the cold temperatures inside (3 different entrances make for a very drafty meal) and the unbearably loud atmosphere, and it may be awhile before we return. Unfortunate cause the food is good and the overall atmosphere fun."

  • "We visited on a Sat night, with 7:30 reservations and were seated almost immediately considering there was a wait of people before us. First impression was great! Booming place, and hopping bar. Service was very slow as it took our server some time to take our drink order. After ordering drinks, it turns out they were out of atleast 3 or 4 top items on the menu such and the scallops, turtle soup (which is what we went there for). The tables are very crowded and you are basically sitting next to strangers, but it is a bar atmosphere, not for a romantic setting. I would go back for the bar mainly, not so much for the food."

  • "Took my boyfriend there for his birthday and we can't stop talking about this place... The drinks are amazing (you only need one!), the waitstaff took very good care of us, and the establishment is super fly in decor. We tried the Lobster Mac, pork shank, BBQ octopus, and the beef short rib, needless to say if your a foodie then you have to to stop by and check them out. A bit pricey for a spur of the moment type of place, but awesome for a special dining experience. We will be returning..."

  • "It was AMAZING. It was the first time my date and I were ever there. It had great service. And we loved ever minute of it. Great place with good food and service. Thr only thing was the noise level was high and you couldn't hear what someone was saying. It was very noisy. But all in all....I would love to go there again."

  • "My husband, my adult son and I wanted "something different" than our usual dinner out. 2 coworkers recommended theMint and when we looked at the menu and beer selection we were intrigued. The good is upscale but it doesn't cost an arm and a leg, nor do you have to dress to the nines to get in the door. I can honestly say that the 3 of us can't say enough good things about our experience. We will most definitely return and tell everyone we know about this gem!"

  • "I have to say I was very pleased with The Mint. We had a later evening reservation at the end of restaurant week yet everything from the service, bar to the food was super. The food was very good. They take some very basic foods and give them a great twist. As my dinner guest said they took what use to be poor folk food and turned it upscale. Every one was in my party of 4 was very happy with their dinners. The beer selection was very good. We liked that they had descriptions of the various beers they had both in bottle and on tap. It helped make food and beer pairings very easy for those who were not foodies."
