Diner Reviews
  • "Always reliable. The food was excellent with many choices on the menu for all. We had the lamb dish and a pasta dish and both were excellent. The atmosphere was great as always and the service was good. This has been a reliable choice for us dining for various occasions. From special occasions to a simple date night, The Yellow Porch doesn't disappoint."

  • "After reading the reviews here, my husband and I had to visit. And it was terrific. Our server was very helpful and recommended a great wine, the antipasti plate was large and all the items were delicious. I had the coffee brined pork chop and my husband had a skillet cooked half-chicken, and we really liked both. Parking is a little constrained, but overall it was great!"

  • "Server not knowledgeable about wine. Unfortunate because wine list has quit variety. Red wine served too warm. Dessert excellent!"

  • "We had an 8:30 OT reservation, arrived on time. 12 people were seated ahead of us. One in our party left due to time constraints. Entrées took one hour from seating. Felt more like they should be handing out buzzers than a place taking reservations. They need to work on this. Food was good."

  • "My family often visits the Yellow Porch for special occasions. This time we were celebrating the results of my daughter's school exams and giving her a send off to go back to school. The food is good, they can accommodate vegetarians, and the service is first class even when the restaurant is busy."

  • "Had dinner at 5:30 on Monday and there was one other couple in the resturant at that time. It was quiet and peaceful. Nice evening and service was great!"

  • "We chose the Yellow Porch because of it the great reviews and friend recommendations we had gotten. Made our reservation through Open Table. We were seated promptly at a nice table. Our server was great; knowledgeable and helpful and friendly. The food was terrific. There were five of us and each got a different dish. No one was disappointed or dissatisfied; everyone thought theirs was the best. We ended with the tiramisu which was delicious. All in all it was great."

  • "Yellow Porch is a great spot in what is otherwise an neighbourhood of nothing culinary. The food is good and often really good. Wine list could have a little more choice, but what they have is good and reasonably priced too. On this visit we had a waiter who couldn't seem to remember anything at all - the food, the wine, I mean anything! - which just became comical after a while. We'll still go back, but maybe make sure we know who our waiter is!"

  • "We went for a girl's night out and had a great time with food, wine and service. It was what we expected and we weren't disappointed. The food (no matter what you order) is fresh and the service is great."

  • "Found this searching for an open reservation while in Nashville at conference and just about missed it in the dark! Was helpful another reviewer had noted you had to be on the look out and the parking was small so could use the bank parking lot next door. The wait staff was very friendly, had great suggestions and the food was super! Close quarters and busy, full restaurant gave a little above average noise level but was not distracting. Good value for quality of food and service. Well worth the effort!"

  • "Lovely atmosphere, perfect salad, crab cake was good, but not as meaty as I would have liked"

  • "I'm so fortunate that Yellow is less than a mile from my home. The seafood specials are always creative and amazing. And the entire staff is so welcoming. Never disappointed."

  • "South Nashville is not exactly a foodie haven, so it's very exciting that there is actually one fine dining restaurant in the area and this is it."

  • "The food and atmosphere at The Yellow Porch are very good. The service as the table was also very good. However, they kept us waiting for 15 minutes for our reservation. Why have reservations if they are not accommodated?"

  • "Our first visit to The Yellow Porch. Food was excellent. My husband especially enjoyed the celery blue cheese soup. We both had the short ribs and they were absolutely delicious. Parking lot was a little small and after reading reviews of how easy it is to miss this restaurant from the road, we were on the lookout and found it with no trouble. But they sure could serve their customers better by having a larger, more visible sign."

  • "Love the decor, low lighting, food , service and location.. The parking lot is small but plenty of parking next door at the bank and there is always a guy outside to help anyone with parking and assist people to there cars if needed. Women can feel very safe here. Crab cakes are delicious. My only complaint is they do not have reasonable prices on house wine.....one glass of Cabernet is $12. No happy hour either. Not a place to have more than one glass."

  • "Surly hostess! Server seemed overtaxed. It would be nice to get a little respect even if you aren't an alcohol consumer-- sometimes we tip to compensate! Food good. Service, not so much so. Have been here many times, but this was the worst experience yet. Would think a reservation made a day prior would get you better here."

  • "From the very second of entering the Yellow Porch, the ambiance is staged like you are visiting a family member or best friend. Our group of four shared a bottle of wine at the entrance poured by the owner. We visited with people that we knew leaving the restaurant on our way to our table( it felt like we were there weekly). The menu selection was diverse. Two filets, a salmon and my favorite the beef short ribs with creative salads did not disappoint . Every dish was well presented and tasty. My only regret is that I wish I had left room for dessert. The Yellow Porch entered my Top 5 of eclectic restaurants in the city, one that we will sign up to visit again soon."

  • "Just good food and good service. I don't mean the menu was plain - it had many out of the ordinary choices. We had the shrimp and the filet and they were both excellent."

  • "After a crazy day of traveling, it was nice to try this place from the many options in Nashville. The staff were quite friendly and very accommodating when it came to making changes to reservations. Food was good, ambiance is quaint and cozy and I would definitely return again. Reasonably priced."

  • "Great food, nice ambiance. The wife and I love this place. Good local spots are not always easy to find. This one stands out."

  • "It has been awhile since we'd been back (stpuidly too bust trying new restaurants)- I forgot how delicious and flavorful the food is here. There are no pretenses. Good affordable wine and just good food. None of the farm-to-table garbage; Just good ingredients and food the chef prepares. This place is one of the few Original Nashville Originals and I am putting back in our rotation. Attentive and nice service - which can be hard to find."

  • "Despite being busy given it was the night before Valentine's Day, we were not disappointed with the Yellow Porch. Food was very good, service was good and we were seated promptly. This is definitely a funky, little neighborhood restaurant with a nice vibe. It was very unexpected given the location. I was impressed to see Paella on the menu and it was light yet flavorful. My husband highly recommends the salmon. The bar service was good also. A full glass or wine plus hand-stuff blue cheese olives for my husband's martini. We will definitely be back. Reservations recommended."

  • "In Nashville for the day and decided to pull Opentable up on the phone to find a "local" spot. The Yellow Porch is a perfect find and an absolute delight. Excellent service from an attentive yet perfectly non-intrusive waiter who made recommendations when asked that fit the needs for our particular taste. The ambience, the service and the food were equaled only by a fabulous dessert called Flourless Chocolate Torte we shared and talked about all the way home."

  • "We recently visited Yellow Porch for dinner after not having been there for several months, and the experience was lovely. The food was delicious (we had the cobia and salmon dishes - both flavorful and paired well with the vegetables and other items on the plate). The service was outstanding. Our waiter was attentive and knowledgable about the menu, identified gluten free options, and which options could be prepared to be so, brought amazing Parmesan wafers in lieu of bread, and was friendly and pleasant. We stayed late and talked and were never rushed. The ambiance was calm and inviting. Even on a busy night with a full restaurant, the vibe was intimate and warm. We will definitely return soon."

  • "I have eaten here numerous times and it is always delicious. Sometimes the waitstaff isn't overly friendly but the food is excellent every time. The seafood is always fresh and the creme brûlée was so good!!! You won't be disappointed here!"

  • "As a vegetarian, I always make sure to check menus before booking any restaurant. Yellow Porch's menu had some vegetarian friendly options, so I was thrilled to book them for Valentines Day. Unfortunately, they had a different menu on Valentine's Day and their Valentine's Day menu had NO vegetarian-friendly entrees. My only options were two appetizers. The appetizer I had was tasty, but it was really small - as it was just an appetizer. Really disappointed that I was not informed about the menu-change when I made reservations."

  • "The Yellow Porch is consistently wonderful every time we go. The food is delicious and the service is some of the best I have ever had. Great place for an intimate evening out! BTW, ask to sit in Adam's section...he is the best!!!!"

  • "My first experience was phenomenal, and I was expecting the same, but this time it did not quite hit the mark. I made reservations on open table, and got a phone call 15 minutes later that they sat someone at the table I had made the reservation for, and the hostess said she didn't mark it unavailable after she sat the people so my reservation was for an unavailable table. It was a busy Friday night. She said she would get us in at 8 instead. (Reservation was for 7:15) Or we had the option of dining elsewhere. Well, we went anyway. Decided to try and get a glass of wine at the bar. There were no seats at the bar and It took 15 mins before we were acknowledged to order a glass. I will go back"

  • "Yellow Porch continues to be a consistent choice for food. The night we were there on a Friday was very busy and they have crammed the tables very close, but it really did not cause a problem, but don't count on any confidential conversations. The waiter was stretched and was not overly attentive, but again, overall we did not have a problem."

  • "We were in from Memphis and found this wondeful gem. The service was excellent, the food was awesome. The Blue Cheese Celery soup was absolutely delicious. The filet melted in your mouth. Spare ribs were yummy and tender. We had great wine and then to end our evening we had Tiramisu....unbelievable. We cannot wait to go back to Nashville and eat there again."
