A word from The Wooster Inn
Built in 1959, The Wooster Inn is centrally located, and stands at the edge of The College of Wooster's spacious campus. The Inn is within minutes of the world's largest Amish community. Other area attractions include The Ohio Light Opera Company.
It is an easy walk to cultural and sporting events on campus. The restaurant features beef and seafood entrees prepared to the chef's specifications. The main dining room features an upscale, casual atmosphere and overlooks the scenic college golf course.
In the Fall of 2003, the Inn expanded its catering and conference capabilities, offering the latest in technology and service packages to accommodate almost any group. In January 2005, The Wooster Inn added The Wooster Inn Guest House, which was formally a guest house for Newell-Rubbermaid. The Guest House not only will provide additional housing, but can also support meetings, retreats and other social or business gatherings.

Diner Reviews
  • "Booked a lunch allowing 1 hour prior to showtime for the Ohio Light Opera. No hostess in sight upon arrival, lengthy delay in order taking, over 1 hour wait for arrival of a simple order. Did not have time to finish eating. Wait staff completely comprised of young males who appeared untrained. No knowledge of any wines on the menu or the difference between a glass and a bottle of wine. Asked to speak to the manager, but informed that no manager was on staff (on a Sunday afternoon). Other tables vocalized complaints about lengthy delays in service."

  • "This was my first visit to The Wooster Inn, and everything was perfect! The witty & knowledgeable server, the beautiful decor and of course, the FANTASTIC food! Everyone was beyond pleased with each of the dishes we ordered!"

  • "A great place for a family to gather. Comfortable dining room, Friendly, Excellent service, wide array of choices of well prepared food and sumptuous desserts. The only flaw was the choice of vegetables, very obviously frozen from a big bag, not up to the standard set by the rest of the food. We were not hurried and were able to enjoy the meal. All in all a place I want to come to again and bring guests when they are in town."

  • "If you can't dine at home, The Wooster Inn is the next best spot! Delicious buffet, value-priced, good service, friendly staff. Something for everyone on the buffet line. Right-sized desserts, all the traditional Thanksgiving goodies -- especially that traditional sage dressing -- yum!"

  • "My family and I went to the Inn on a Saturday. There were only 3 other tables occupied in the whole place which should have tipped us off. The menu seems like it would be fit for a foodie with it's options and imagination but the finished product wasn't up to par. Most of the food was bland and just not as special as the menu would have you believe. Broken Rocks Cafe or the City Square Steakhouse is a much better bet in Wooster."

  • "Food and atmosphere great. Appreciated qualit of vegan and vegetarian options."

  • "On Friday evening they have a buffet outdoors. That put most patrons outside. We had the whole place to ourselves. The wine list was outstanding. You can buy wine retail and then pay a corking fee. Of the four of us we had a variety of food, from fish to steaks. The food was outstanding. Service was great."

  • "A lovely, top quality restaurant tucked inside a country inn/hotel. The menu is full service, with a lovely selection of vegetarian, fish, beef, etc. I went to dinner there right before a Wooster Light Opera performance. The place was packed but the wait staff got everyone fed and out in time for the evening's performance down the street. Great attention to detail. Heartily recommend."

  • "We were pleasantly surprised with the lovely patio and with the quality of the food. We both ordered one of the fish options on the menu. The food was served promptly and very hot. Delicious."

  • "Not only is the food prepared well and presented nicely, but the service is very attentive using students at the College of Wooster. The menu is very extensive between the entrees and pub fare. The Inn is highly recommended."

  • "This was an outstanding time. Dinner was fabulous. We met friends we had not seen for about 25 years. College was so long ago and we had lost touch for a while. It was great eating dinner and "catching up!" The food was excellent and our waitress was so patient with us as we could not stop talking long enough to order our food. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a touch of really good food and good ambience."

  • "This is a favorite "special evening" restaurant. We have eaten on the patio and enjoy the scenery and also inside which was our most recent experience. We were attending OLO; having a lovely dinner followed by superb entertainment is perfect for creating a romantic evening and night! A little wine and handsome husband helps, too! The food is creative, well-prepared and beautifully presented. We are big fans of lunch, dinner, inside or outside. Friday night has a "bash" on the patio so it's a little more robust than at other times but we did not find the activity a spoiler. The clientele have always been gracious and attentive on each of our visits."

  • "The only "bad" thing I have to say about our experience was no one seemed to realize we had been seated. We waited about 15 minutes before our server came over. She was VERY apologetic and did a GREAT job once she got there."

  • "Went to the Wooster Inn with friends. We ate in the dining room and had an excellent Sea Bass dinner with outstanding service. We were able to talk during dinner and had a great time. There is live music on Friday evenings. This is part of the College of Wooster and also has a pub area in the lower level and rooms on the second floor."

  • "We had a nice dinner new years eve. The food at the Inn was good. It's nice they try and draw from local suppliers for ingredients and wine, too."

  • "Dining area overlooks the golf course at College of Wooster (COW), though it was dark when we were there. I ordered the fig & almond stuffed chicken breast, buttermilk mashed potatoes, grilled asparagus and grilled grape demi-glace, salad & dressing ($18). It was very tasty and there was still crunch in the almonds. Hubby ordered seared sea scallops, Ohio City pasta® lobster-stuffed ravioli and lobster butter sauce served with tomato based shrimp bisque ($23) which he enjoyed. Paired dinner with a 2010 Matchbook chardonnay. for dessert we shared the shared raspberry cheese cake desert, coffee. total wit tip $110.David, a political science student at COW, was our server. The sidewalks needed shoveled! beautiful decorations"

  • "Decorated for the holidays, the Wooster Inn's dining room felt festive and inviting. We got exactly what we ordered. Very good sandwiches. The Inn special homemade potato chips were very crisp but too greasy for my taste. I forget this restaurant exists but will intentionally place it near the top of my list. Good prices, good service, beautiful setting."

  • "This is a terrific restaurant on the beautiful College of Wooster campus. We celebrated our daughter's (a student on campus) birthday and it was lovely. Food was terrific and service excellent. Lovely menu and visit from the chef was appreciated. This is worth going out of your way to try."

  • "Atmosphere was OK and we easily got a reservation on a busy family weekend at COW. It was food, but that's about all -- very "meh.""

  • "One of the best dinners we have ever had. The service was very good, and we had some great conversations about wine with Chef Ken, who came to our table several times to ensure that we were happy. The prices are extemely fair! I was pleasantly surprised. We are planning our next trip there for November."

  • "A group of four of us went to see "Guys and Dolls' at the Ohio Light Opera in Wooster. We thought it would be a good experience to have lunch at The Wooster Inn, and we were right! We were all pleased with our meals, the ambiance and service were great and the Inn is just a few minutes away from the theater."

  • "The menu was too limited. I would have a full menu at lunch time on Sunday, not just brunch and pub menu."
    Dined on 7/15/2012
  • "Though aware the dining room menu was not adventurous, we booked this restaurant ahead of our trip due to its proximity to the Ohio Light Opera, as we would be dining between two shows. Bad choice; it turned out we had enough time to have driven to Wooster's downtown, where we would have found more interesting menus, a younger crowd and better food, or we should simply have gone to the Inn's Pub for a classic burger/sandwich/salad. The dated cuisine at the Inn seemed appropriate for the aging audience of the OLO, but not for younger palates the OLO needs to attract. Neither the fish nor fowl were memorable; the clam chowder was unpleasantly chewy. The wine list, on the other hand, was good, and we enjoyed a decent reisling."

  • "Wonderful dinner at the Wooster Inn with great service. Our party of six were served simultaneously by several wait staff. We returned later in the evening for deserts, which were outstanding, and drinks."

  • "We stay here every year, I guess for at least twelve by now. We love it, especially room 7. We were moved to another room at 10:00 at night, when we couldn't sleep. because of noise from a party under our window. The staff did all they could to help us. We visited your new place and may try it next year, but we'll be back 'Home' again."

  • "We have been to the Wooster Inn several times and have always enjoyed it. However we were a little disappointed this time. We went out expecting to have the Buffet only to find out it was no longer being offered. We ordered from the Brunch menu. I ordered the Waffle. Al though it was tastey a portion of it was evidently still left in the waffle iron. All in all not quite upto the normal high quality we had come to expect from the Wooster Inn."

  • "When we arrived, we were greeted warmly. Ryan was our server, who usually works in the Pub. He was so sweet...very responsive to our elderly mother who was having a special day. Thanks, Ryan, for making our luncheon special."

  • "Visited on Mother's day. Never felt rushed because the reservations were spread-out far enough that guests were not backed-up. Food from the Grilled Salmon to Cherry Chicken, Pasta Carbonara, and Strip Steak were excellent. Can't think of how it could be improved."

  • "On a crowded graduation weekend at the College of Wooster it was delightful to find an empty outdoor courtyard in which to dine. We enjoyed the beautiful view of the golf course as well. Service and menu selections were excellent."

  • "Really enjoyed our Easter brunch - food was delicious, pianist in lobby was much enjoyed, service very pleasant. Delightful!"

  • "We made reservations for the Easter buffet, which turned out to be disappointing. The food seemed processed, as if out of a package. It also wasn't very hot. Of all things, the chicken and dumpling soup stood out as very good. We may go back to try ordering either from the Pub or Dining menu, but this visit was disappointing."
