The Wishing WellMother's Day DinnerOur dining experience was excellent! -We were assisted to our table (mom has a walker) without any fuss - The server was very personable and pleasant - despite it being one of the busiest of days for dining out! The food (from appetizers to desserts) was wonderful.- Again, despite it being Mother's Day - when it is such a busy day-we never felt rushed - as if we had to "eat and run." Food is fantastic and the servce outstanding.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMOur Enjoyable Easter DinnerHaving made our reservations for 1:30 PM on Easter Sunday, and having encountered crowds on entering in the past, we were very pleasantly surprised to find no crowd on entry and to be seated immediately. Our waitress was wonderful, knowledgeable, had a sense of humor and we liked her very much. The meal was perfection; meat tender, asparagus cooked just right and the potatoes tasty. We were a little disappointed to not be able to enjoy your Lobster Bisque, but another time, perhaps. Everything was served in a timely fashion, as well. The desserts were also very good and included in the cost of the meal. If I had to make a suggestion it would be that the room was a bit warm. When we mentioned this the situation was promptly addressed. My brother and sister-in-law had a wonderful introduction to dining in Saratoga having moved here this week from the Phoenix area. My guest had the duck...always a favorite. Would highly recommend this restaurant for a special dinner, especially if you want to relax and not be rushed. The regular menu is outstanding so the three of us ordered the lamb chop and one filet mignon rather than the Restaurant week special which also looked good. The entrees were cooked to perfection and came with sides of asparagus and au gratin potatoes which were wonderful. Our friend got the apple pie and my husband and I shared the lemon creme brulee. Both were very good. The Wishing Well quickly has become my favorite spot, we live just up the street so it is a short ride, but there are 3 other restaurants nearby and the Wishing Well outshines them all!! I always have such a great time there, even if we just stop in for a cocktail, we get into discussions with the most interesting people and the staff makes you feel like you are at home. It will most definitely not be the last! Now I know why it's so highly recommended. The food, the waitstaff - everything about it was top notch. I'm not easily impressed, but the Wishing Well really hit the mark. I can't wait to go again!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the Best in Saratoga SpringsWe dine at Wishing Well several times a year and would go more often if not for it's location so far out of town. Upon rare occasions, we have had to park accross the highway in a grassy field for parking. Not much fun returning to the car in the dark -- after drinks and wine. In August they provide car valet service.
The food is consistently excellent and the seating is spacious for privacy. Entrees include duck, local prime meats, fresh seafood. All are presented exceptionally well.
The drinks are generous.
Service, on occasion, has been spotty.
This is a very "in spot" for the summer race track devotees. Lots of fun!3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Wishing Well has beenThe Wishing Well has been a Saratoga Springs institution since I went to college here more than 30 years ago. It was the fine dining establishment of choice when our parents came up to visit. So it was the perfect choice for a girls' weekend with my college roommate. In spite of it being Restaurant Week when most restaurants offer smaller portions of a limited selection of menu items, The Wishing Well didn't appear to follow that suit. We appreciated the fact that we could actually hear each other speak (a problem in some of the trendier places in town). The food is excellent, the service attentive without being intrusive, and the ambiance wonderful. A great pick for that special occasion.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AM
