  • "Lunch at the Wine Kitchen offers great food--their fixed price menu is one of the best values in town! I had their Fried Green Tomatoes, Pappardella and Pork Belly. My companion had the Mac and Cheese and Steak Fries. All our food was simply excellent. The Flourless Chocolate Cake was a great ending to the perfect lunch on a nice summer day. WK is truly a great establishment, run with great care by John McCain, their General Manager. He takes great care of his customers, as does Jack, a young waiter who is polite, courteous and highly professional who is one o the best waiters in town. If you want to taste the best Frederick has to offer, head to the Wine Kitchen on the Creek!"

  • "Lovely, interesting food. Uneven portions--mine was generous, my husband's was tiny. Despite reservations, were asked to wait for tables to be cleared (OK) but then were not seated until we asked--and then in a fishy smelling corner."

  • "Took advantage of restaurant week and were throughly surprised by the food, wine selections, and overall top notch service. Hadn't heard much buzz down in the Bethesda area about the wine kitchen but looking forward to our next visit."

  • "The restaurant week meal options offered were great and did not have any limitations, considering the use of the existing menu with supplemental charges for some higher priced items. Food was absolutely delicious and perfectly portion sized."

  • "We visited during restaurant week. Food was excellent - duck was moist with crisp skin and scallops were cooked perfectly. (altho $8 supplement for only 3 was pricey). Service was exceptionally attentive. Liquor and wine flights concept were a nice touch. We will return."

  • "After a lackluster dinner some months ago and despite starting with an insipid white asparagus salad, we are once again very high on the Wine Kitchen. The seared ahi on a bed of faro was perfection. The tuna had just the right amount of char -- not one second under or over cooked. Our other entree, seared halibut was also delicious and imaginatively garnished. And the banana split trifle belies its name -- since its scrumptiousness is anything but trifling!"

  • "The wine kitchen is a wonderful find. The food is creative and delicious. The scallops and the ricotta rolls are fab!!! The wine flights are a great way to find new favorites. And the service is great!! Can't wait to go back!"

  • "The food here just keeps getting better and better. Tuna Tartar Tacos are unbelievable and the French Dip burger could be the hidden gem of the menu. I have yet to find something that I didn't like. This is my go-to restaurant and can't imagine Frederick without it!"

  • "This was the best visit yet to the Wine Kitchen. My party had great meals--the 22 ounce pork chop was amazing and one of the best things ever ordered from the place. We also had the filet and scallops. All the food was well-prepared and the wines were all delicious. The Stonetree Zinfandel was a standout bottle of wine-- a real treat. What made our evening great was John--our waiter. He was absolutely charming, polite and so helpful when one of the wine flight glasses was not to my friend's liking. He took care of us by having the manager come by with a glass of wine that turned into the bottle of Stonetree. Ask for John--he's really quite talented and charming! And the Wine Kitchen just gets better and better!"

  • "Stopping in for lunch on a weekday, I selected the two-course special. My starter was an artfully composed salad of Bibb lettuce, white asparagus, radishes, and speck (my new favorite ham). The lettuce leaves were perfectly dressed, each leaf shining with a thin, silky layer of light vinaigrette. The ham (just the perfect amount) added just the right touch of richness and salty smokiness, without overpowering. The asparagus was perfectly cooked and each bite juicy and crisp. All-in-all, a salad that satisfied and did credit to the masterful kitchen that produced it. The garden cassoulet that followed my first course was just as delicious and masterfully prepared. The Wine Kitchen is among the best dining spots in Frederick. Go!"

  • "My sixth time dining at The Wine Kitchen, I met a friend for dinner who had never been here. I enjoyed her first time experience with her all over again. We were seated Creek Side and had excellent service, excellent food and of course the opportunity to try excellent wines through the flights available. For meat lovers try the Cola Steak (yep-Coca Cola!) although everything is really great."

  • "My mom and I brunch a lot, so we see many of the same dishes over and over. Wine Kitchen on the Creek offers a menu that rises above the ordinary. The WK Hangover Helper is the perfect blend of lunch and breakfast -- open faced burger, topped with a fried egg and sausage gravy, delicious! The potato cake on the menu is a nice break from the usual hash browns. Eggs are perfectly cooked, and the skirt steak my mom had (Steak and Eggs) was cooked to order, juicy and flavorful. I highly recommend the Banana Split Trifle -- AMAZING! I heard people at an adjacent table raving about the cornmeal pancakes, generously dotted with fresh blueberries, topped with just the right amount of whipped cream. The 3 for $26 brunch special is a great value!"

  • "The food and service were both ok but not memorable. I went with my wife for her birthday because of the nice reviews but the reviews were too generous. My halibut was overcooked on one side that I had to use a knife to cut it. Hope this helped"

  • "The selection of daily oysters was prepared so differently, and requires nothing (no cocktail sauce, lemon, etc). The scallops and halibut we had were both amazing, and had a great presentation. The cabernet we had was delicious and my colleague said the chocolate cake was to die for - I know it definitely looked good! a great little find in Frederick and one of my new "favorite" places to dine."

  • "Good was very good. Selection was excellent (menu was good size). Portions were just right. Service was a tad slow but I'm in no rush on a Saturday night. There was some confusion when I ordered the special because apparently they were sold out of the meal that our waiter explained to us. So when I got my meal, much to my surprise, it was the new special. The manager was very professional and allowed me option to enjoy the new special on the house or order something else off the menu."

  • "We decided to return to Frederick to try the Wine Kitchen and we had one of our best meals of the year. The wine and liquor selection is better than most, while the food was excellent. I highly recommend a visit."

  • "My wife and I recently returned to The Wine Kitchen for a second visit. We really like this place. The food and wine selection are excellent and the service is first rate. The menu is set up in a way allowing you to mix and match dishes as well as the ability to taste several wines for the price of a full glass. If the weather is good, sitting outside along the creek is a beautiful way to spend a lazy weekend afternoon."

  • "Reservations were flawless. The table was ready on time though we added two friends at the last moment. But the maitre d' was cooperative and cheerful and made it happen. We really appreciated the flexibility. Dinner was fantastic - and we are foodies. Truly a world class steak cooked via sous vide and finished on a grill. We ordered it medium rare but the server misheard us due to some crowd noise. She apologized profusely and the kitchen promptly delivered a medium rare (done perfectly) again with no fuss or muss. My swordfish was over the top good - bronzed perfectly and tender on the inside. Also, our request for a window seat via Open Table was missed - but again the maitre d' adjusted perfectly and professionally"

  • "Sat outside - very nice there by the creek. Food was very good - we'll be back. One question though: why can't you get get unbuttered bread. Does it come that way from the bakery?"

  • "We've never been to Fredrick much less to any restaurants in this cute little downtown area. I picked The Wine Kitchen based on reviews I read on line and thought we'd give it a try. We sat outside and had great ambiance with the scenic canal less than 20 yards away. We had our dog with us and it turns out the restaurant is very dog friendly (outdoors, of course) with water bowls placed throughout and staff offering Beau (our dog) treats. Service was outstanding. Wait staff were very attentive and made great recommendations but were not over bearing. The food was fantastic. I would highly recommend."

  • "Best wine tasting menu in the city and unlike so many other places, you have the option of choosing the ones you want to taste. We had a duck entrée that was spectacular and a lamb belly entrée that was both unique and tasty. (The volume of food resulted in both of us taking some food home with us.) Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a fine dining experience in a relaxed atmosphere."

  • "Very pleased with this gem in Frederick, Maryland. Totally worth the visit from Gaithersburg, although plan to have a designated driver. That way you can sample the local spirits they offer on the menu!"

  • "The food was quite good although the service was a bit lacking, i.e. inattentive. I do not like hovering wait staff but this was too much in the other direction. It also took much too long for the food to be brought out considering that there were very few diners in the restaurant at that time."

  • "Recently discovered the best dining I've yet to experience in downtown Frederick. On weekends, a reservation is a must as the place is always packed! Impressive menu and unique wine selections. The visual presentation of everything served was as spectacular as it was well prepared and delicious. The ambiance is charming and welcoming, and you can't beat the view along the Carroll Creek. Appreciated the good service and not being rushed through the meal. Perfect for casual get-togethers or romantic evenings. Was so good, we came back again the same week! Cheers to an excellent, well-trained Chef."

  • "We landed at this restaurant because our normal favorite was closed on a Sunday night and we were glad we did. When first pulling up, it appears to be in an office building across from parking deck, but once you walk in, the restaurant is beautiful and sits on a gorgeous waterfront promenade in historic downtown. The menu was diverse and the food fantastic. A little bit pricy (dinner for 4 was over $300) but a great experience. The servers need to know when to filter and not go into intricate detail on every menu item and to allow their guests to enjoy their time. We tried several things on the menu and everything was terrific. The beet salad was one of the best things I have ever tasted!"

  • "We've been dining at Wine Kitchen since they first opened. The kitchen continues to deliver very impressive food. WK is not Volt, but it is the closest you can get in Frederick County. There are several fine restaurants in Frederick, but nobody else is turning out food like this. The menu is seasonal which means you never can get tired of the food. We do miss the tuna tartare though. The 2/$19, 3/$23 fix prixe options for lunch are a bargain."

  • "Make no mistake; if you want great food and terrific service served up in a vibrant downtown Frederick scene, you can't miss The Wine Kitchen on the Creek. However, with that said, you need to eat something before you go because the portion sizes are tiny and the costs are high. If this is not an issue with you, have a great time! I guarantee you won't be disappointed. If you are "value" conscious, this restaurant will please your taste buds but may leave you feeling you paid alot to leave hungry! Again, quality and service is impeccable; value for your money is definitely in the eyes of the beholder BUT if you are new to this restaurant (as I was) go in knowing in with your eyes open."

  • "We keep coming back all the way from DC! Inventive, really tasty food, wine and spirit flights have many choices. Must have an English major writing the blurbs for the flights, love reading them. Eating outside is quiet and lively at the same time. Love the creek, people watching, doggy friends, and tree lined ambiance."

  • "The food at the Wine Kitchen is good. If you manage to get a table on the patio one will have a pleasant meal. If you must eat inside it is not a warm and well designed dining area. The bar dominates this place, as does the fireplace area. Otherwise, it is just so so. Additionally, the portions are very small. We ordered the Tuna Tacos which were delicious however, it needs to be listed a bite-size or demitasse. Having eaten around the world from Vienna to Venice to London to Paris, {in many fine restaurants} the Kitchen is an average place and a rather pretentious one. If you are in Frederick, I'd check out other fine restaurants on Market Street. Yes, the Kitchen is in the new trendy area but it is not worth it. Sherlock!"
