The Wine Kitchen on the CreekA European Wine Cafe in FrederickWonderful wine tasting list to choose from. Beautifully presented food. Pet friendly. Outdoor dining is a must because of the view of the creek. And trees protect you from the hot sun. Very European feel.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is our second time there. This is our second time there. Our high opinion after our first visit wasn't changed at all. The only down side is that the garage is on the street behind the restaurant with no reliable way to cut through. The 1st time we were able to enter a building directly across from the garage, take an elevator and exit the building just a few doors down from the restaurant. After dining some one let us in to that building to return to the garage. This time we could not get back into the building to return to the garage and had to walk all the way around. Fortunately, it was a beautiful evening.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious!Fresh ingredients and served with excellence. Very nice wine list. The menu is a little expensive, but worth it.
We enjoyed eating outside on the patio overlooking the canal. Fresh cheese plate to start with flights of white wine, then a delicious halibut entree. It's a must try.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMI thoroughly enjoyed everyI thoroughly enjoyed every part of my dining experience at The Wine Kitchen. Our server was fantastic! Very attentive and polite. I had the grilled swordfish and it was delicious. The Wine Kitchen, in my opinion, has the best ambiance in Frederick.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMa great spotThe wine kitchen is a wonderful place for just about any occasion, excellent food, interesting menu, good service and fun to watch people go by on Carroll Creek Park.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time at the Wine KitchenGreat good, friendly service, and a beautiful setting. Great for a date night!6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderfulWe have been to the Wine Kitchen for dinner before and were impressed. Well, brunch topped that! The food was fantastic. It was freshly made and piping hot! My husband got the filet and was pleased. I got the Chet's quiche and it just melted in my mouth. The eggs in purgatory were phenomenal and the cornmeal pancakes were more delicious with every bite! Our waitress Carrie was attentive friendly and knowledgable about the menu. We cannot wait to come back and bring friends and family!6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMYumThe food & service was great. The cheese plate was to die for. Loved it. Can't wait to go back6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a surprise! This is a great restaurant, I wish I'd learned of it sooner. Perfect service and the food was excellent. It's places like this that make me want to live in Frederick.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMA lot to likeOur first trip to the Wine Kitchen was very good after asking to be moved because of close together tables and loud neighbors. I really like the menu choices, quite different food. Not your normal slab of protein with a routine starch and a soggy tasteless vegetable, but unique and interesting combinations of food. The wine list is just the right size with many choices between $23-$35.
I do like a small salad with my meal but here any salads are close to $10 and would be more than we wanted. All things considered we liked the place, once we found it, and plan to return to explore more of the menu.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMScenic DiningWe enjoyed our first meal here on a lovely, summery evening. The patio overlooking Carroll Creek was very pleasant, with good shade and enough space between the tables for private conversation. The interior is large and attractive as well.
Our meals were tasty and fresh. My husband ordered a salad and steak, which came with a generous serving of rich mashed potatoes and crisp green beans. I opted for three appetizers instead of an entree: fried green tomatoes (light and crispy with a spicy sauce), deliciously fresh oysters, and pappardelle with mushrooms, sage and Parmesan. The pappardelle was barely cooked, but had a nice nutty flavor and absorbed the buttery sauce. The wine flights are a fun option for tasting.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMFor Wine (and Food) Lovers!Relaxed atmosphere, great service, good wines and pleasant light fare convenient to everything in downtown Frederick. A great place for wine lovers and fans of a pleasant experience.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful Brunch optionSunday brunch at Frederick's Wine Kitchen was a very enjoyable event. We sat outside and enjoyed great food. Two of us chose from the pick three for $26 option (one pick can be a drink like a bloody mary!). Two others chose ala carte items. All diners were very satisfied.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThe restaurant abounds with choicesWine Kitchen is always abuzz with diners testing their "Flight" wings with trios of related wines to taste. The selection is both local and international. The food is local and seasonally sourced. Try the arctic char with pureed parsnips or one of the butcher's selections. The owner, Mike, tries to make diners feel at home. The servers are well trained. Definitely try this restaurant when you can sit outside along the canal because my only real complaint is its high decibel levels.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a Perfect TimeThis restaurant always goes out of its way to show you a perfect time. Their lunch specials with two courses for $19 are a steal and both the owner and general manager go out of their way to show every guest special attention. Any restaurateur who wants to know how to generate repeat business could take lessons from Michael & John. Good luck on your third location!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat opportunity to try lots of diI love the wine flights and the food is unique and very, very good.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMMust GoThis was a special dinner (honeymoon and anniversary) and we were so delighted with this restaurant! Everything was perfect.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful meal!Definitely a foodie-fit restaurant with excellent service and wonderful wine selection. The desserts were awesome and werent overly sweet - in fact you could still drink your wine with the desserts we enjoyed. Its a bit pricey but worth it in my opinion.
I hadnt heard about this restaurant before and only stumbled upon it through OpenTable - Thanks Open Table! This will be a place I will return again and again to for special evenings out.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMNew Local FavoriteFour visits, four outstanding meals. New local favorite and highly recommended.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMMay 18th, 2013Food was excellent as well as the presentation. Very nice place to take a date. The atmostsphere was very vibrant and the location was good.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic service & delicious food!We were treated like queens - attentive service and delicious food!5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMFANTASTIC!!!I went to the Wine Kitchen because it had received very high ratings from others and we were not disappointed. Each and every dish was absolutely fantastic! the bib salad was excellent as was the papardelle that my friend had--the miso halibut was out of this world and the portions are just right. I also loved the wine flights available---I did the Petite Syrah flight and each was very enjoyable. You can also purchase a bottle of the wine to take with you at a substantial discount from the menu, if you decide you really like the wine. I was tempted by the bourbon flights as well but, alas, I was driving!
Great place. Would make a special trip to Frederick to go there. We met one of the owners as well and he is great as well as the staff.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's Day BrunchWK's brunch menu offerings are amazing. Highly recommend!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMA little pricey but very goodThe dishes were relatively small for the price, but the menu was very thoughtful. Another vegetarian/vegan option would be wonderful. Great wine list (obviously).5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Mother's Day Ever!My husband and I along with two special friends, had a wonderful meal on Mother's Day, possibly the worst day of the year for dining out. The server was very knowledgable, attentive but not hovering, and the food was outstanding! Everyone enjoyed their meal and the delicious wine. Everyone agreed that the service and meal were not the norm for this very busy day. I usually avoid eating out on Mother's Day and will postpone the celebration to the following weekend, but not any more, we will definately return to the Wine Kitchen often and especially on Mother's DAy!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMSatisfying and surprising....a gem! This is a kitchen that knows what its doing. The food and the service were top notch. We were there for Mother's Day brunch (a day that stresses many kitchens to the max) and found they were more than up to the challenge. The cornmeal pancakes were fluffy and nutty with that light, but rich, taste of corn. A hint of vanilla made them unforgettable and the sprinkling of huckleberries on top added just the right amount of fruity sweetness. The quiche of the day was kale, bacon, and scallion. The crunchy/flaky crust encased a lightly creamy filling that was not too overly cheesy (a mistake made by many kitchens). I could go on and on (and did, but my review was too long so I had to cut it!). Suffice to say, this place is a gem.....go!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMStart to finish a great meal.Start to finish a great meal. One of several excellent restaurants in downtown Frederick. We will definitely be returning.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat dinnerLow key downtown Frederick place with great food. But I have been there three times and always miss out on the lamb belly!!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, wonderfully prepared! One of the best meals we have had in Frederick! We had coconut/carrot soup, beet salad, Atlantic Char,
and fish/chips. Just terrific. Server made a lot of good suggestions. Can't wait to return!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGraet Restaurant in FrederickOutstanding food, creative menu, extensive wine list, interesting sampler choices, excellent service.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMI was pleased that this restaurantI was pleased that this restaurant which offers everything from sandwiches to steak, fish & chicken dishes uses local food sources & serves only sustainable fish. We will be back! Garage parking is across the street & casual attire is fine.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGourmet on Carroll CreekWander through lovely Frederick and then settle in to a table at the charming Wine Kitchen and enjoy a delightful meal. The food is creative, the wine, perfect, and the service as friendly as the setting. Whether it is a snowy evening by the fire or a summer evening out on their patio, you will not be disappointed.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMI wish I'd ordered the filet. My wife ordered a filet, which was divine. My strip/loin was less so. Expertly cooked, but so filled with gristle that it was difficult to enjoy many of the pieces I cut. still our appetizers were wonderful (oysters, cheese sampler, ramp biscuits) and the mash and beans that accompanied the beef were outstanding. We enjoyed our wine flights immensely (glad we weren't driving) The whole experience was certainly 5 star, but I wish I'd ordered the filet.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Place - Will Go BackThe restaurant has a hip, modern feel inside. We were seated promptly. Our waiter, Matthew, was fantastic, very attentive but gave us enough time to have a leisurely dinner and let our food settle before the next course came on. Highlights: The wine samplers were great, the local beet salad was fantastic, and the new york strip with onions and roasted mushrooms was divine. Also the Milk Chocolate pot au creme is a must have for dessert. Negatives (and these are nit picky because this place was great): The cheese platter was good but all of the cheeses were soft cheeses. It would be nice to have a little more variety. My husband's steak was slightly over cooked. I wish there were more dessert options although the one we had was great4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMFood, as always, was outstanding.Food, as always, was outstanding. This time the service was poor: server mixed up orders both with wine flights and food. Server, although nice, couldn't pronounce certain items and kept joining in our personal conversation.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent as UsualWe had an excellent meal and experience. This was not the first time we have dined at the Wine Kitchen on the Creek, and base on our experiences, we had high expectations. They were certainly met.
They have a great selection of wine flights, and I recommend those if you want to try several wines at a reasonable price.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMA 19th Birthday to RememberPerhaps the company played a large role but, it was my girlfriend's 19th birthday and I can rarely recall a venue so perfectly matched for an event.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMDon't miss this when in FrederickOutstanding experience. Creative meals and superbly prepared. Staff was helpful friendly attentive and energetic. Management is engaged and delivers food and conversation. Loved it will return.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMA Great PlaceYum. Yum-yum-yum. If you're in Frederick, you won't be disappointed. While I've had a few items that were "meh" on previous visits (like some odd braised shrimp thing--what was I thinking? Tasty green chile/coconut sauce, but who wants soggy *braised* shrimp?), this time I hit the jackpot. Every salad I've tried has been fresh & delicious, but the beet salad is gorgeous. The trio of charcuterie selections was amazing & served with wildly tasty pickled veggies, house-made mustard, & red onion jam. We ate every molecule! Then we went simple w/ french-dip burgers & they were crazy good... Crazy good. Of course the wine is excellent & it is fun to do the tasting flights, but the staff really seems to want you to be happy & that goes a long way.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMYUM AND FUN!We had a fantastic time. We didn't want to leave, even though we were going to see a show. The food was incredible. Staff was helpful and friendly!!!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall we had a pleasantOverall we had a pleasant experience here. Be prepared for somewhat laid-back service, it wasn't bad, just a bit slow, especially between courses. The pork rinds and guacamole were good, but we had way too many rinds compared to the amount of guacamole. The tuna entree was good and not overcooked (as some places tend to do tuna). The soft shell crab special was quite good. Wine flights are a nice way to determine what goes best with your meal.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMexcellent food.great service.lovelyexcellent food.great service.lovely ambiance.and the wine list affordable.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMTotally positive experience.Totally positive experience. Very interesting menu. The food was all prepared perfectly, all fresh and delicious . The bacon biscuits with maple butter were absolutely out of his world. Very cool wine tasting option at a really reasonable price. Wonderful selection of wines. Note to other diners: when coming to a restaurant that advertises that wine is it's specialty, GET A BABYSITTER! While the staff couldn't be nicer or more accommodating, this is not a place for little children. There was another couple with a baby when we were there and thankfully only a few shreiks came from their direction. But even a few shrieks can ruin the moment of enjoying the wine and of course, the wonderful food.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMHad a group of 7 celebratingHad a group of 7 celebrating my twin sons 29th birthday. We were in a semi private room so noise was not an issue. The waiter was very knowledgable and great to interact with about the food. The food was very good. Couple people commented that the portions seemed a little small and that it had taken awhile to get our food but my wife and I will definitely be going back.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, beautifully presented.Great food, beautifully presented. Now that Volt no longer serves lunch, I'm glad Wine Kitchen continues to offer a two-course fixed-price option. It's a lovely treat. I also appreciate the option to get a small tasting of wine at lunch, as a full pour is usually more than I want at that time.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMNever a complaint. John, MatthewNever a complaint. John, Matthew & Scott make this a wonderful destination.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AM3 LADIES CELEBRATED A TRIPLE3 LADIES CELEBRATED A TRIPLE BIRTHDAY . WE EACH CHOSE A DIFFERENT MENU ITEM AND EVERYONE THOUGHT THEIRS WAS THE BEST. WE SHARED A POT D'CREME AND WITH THE AGE APPROPRIATE CANDLE IT WAS PERFECT. THANKS TO ALL WHO MADE IT A MEMORABLE EVENT.
WE ARE STILL TALKING ABOUT IT.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMMy only complaint is thatMy only complaint is that to get to the restaurant from the garage, you have to go in an office building, up in an elevator, and back outside. When we left, the door to the office building was locked. As we stood there in the rain trying to figure out which way to go, someone from the restaurant came out with a key and let us into the building.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMEach dish was prepared withEach dish was prepared with careful consideration of the blending of ingredients. A splash of green goddess dressing on kale and the julienne granny smith apples a perfect combination. Definitely will return and bring friends.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMWould go AgainA fun restaurant with an exciting menu, set on an intr-city canel with great ambiance. Unusual combinations of tastes. The wine selection was good. As an apatizer we had the cold meat selections as well as the tuna tar-tar with pistachios. We particularly enjoyed the chicken liver pate as well as the cured ham on the meat tray. The fish was wonderful.
For our main entre my wife enjoyed the scallops while I had the herb and lemon chicken which was cooked perfectly. Our daughter has the vegetable pot pie and ate every bite.
Our waitress was friendly and attentive. There is a larger seating area, but we were a group of six so sat in a semi-private room. Would go again.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AM
