Food was good but not great.
Tables were on top of each other. Nice to have a fondue place in Boston, but I'd say Melting Pot gives a better performance."

It is very quaint and
charming....but it should really be called the fondue bar. They had great service that night, almost too attentive but I'm glad I went. Food was really good and its not your traditional Boston restaurant. Good experience."
Dined on 11/13/2013
Lovely space, intimate and fondue
choices were extensive."

Romantic restaurant in opent table
rating.... Nothing remarkable about this place at all... A bit run down, ok food...would not recommend to friends let alone for romantic dinner"
Dined on 11/2/2013
I went here for the first time and
had a wonderful dining experience! The French cheese fondue was the best I've had and the trio of fondue desserts is a must. The service was excellent and the ambience was charming and romantic. Great for a date night out or a girls night with friends."
Dined on 10/27/2013
Great ambience, good service,
great food. I especially recommend the raclette, which was my favorite. The dining room is fairly small so be sure to reserve a table ahead of time if you're planning to eat here. Would definitely recommend this restaurant!"
Dined on 10/26/2013
The food here was good (I mean
melted cheese...hard to not like). Service was a bit terrible - our waitress could not open our wine bottle..at the wine cellar? We drank wine with cork in it.. Also she sort of pressured us into ordering more food and then we had WAY too much. Even though its raw it could not be canceled..."

2nd time here. Did NOT disappoint.
Had the restaurant week menu. 3 courses of heaven. Cheese fondue, then we got lamb you cook on a stone yourself, steak with incredible béarnaise ( their meat is grain fed and very good) my nephew a HUGE eater, got the combo of chicken, pork and beef which came cut in pieces raw and he cooked it in the red wine and mushroom "fondue". Each piece only took 1-3 minutes and then you had a choice of 5 dipping sauces(ALL GREAT) Great wine list(we tried ones we had not heard of) It is a small place, reservations a must. Would be hard to go with very large groups We of course will be back with different family/friends to experience heaven! PS the waiter Scott was so attentive as well as the owner/chef Thierry"

Cheese fondue & chocolate fondue
were very good. Entrees were just so-so."
Dined on 8/30/2013
The Wine Cellar is always a
pleasure to eat at! When they suggested a wine per our likings, it was not the most expensive at all! Great service and owner."
Dined on 8/22/2013
Went to The Wine Cellar for
Restaurant Week and were surprisingly the only people in the restaurant for most of our meal! Our server was attentive and nice, making great recommendations for both the food and wine. The classic Swiss fondue was delicious, with more than enough for two. The entrees were OK, and the dark chocolate dessert fondue was also very good. May come back for the cheese fondue and a great glass of wine, but not sure we would return for a full meal."
Dined on 8/18/2013
A fondue appetizer at $25 that is
barely enough for one person, $33 entree with six tiny shrimp and 5 small scallops, and $22 for dessert, no wonder we were the only ones in the restaurant. Way overpriced for the mediocre quality and tiny portions."
Dined on 8/11/2013
Nothing too exciting. wine list
was not nearly as good as one would expect. worth it for the cheese fondue."
Dined on 1/6/2013
I was sunned by the gap between
opentable reviews & the reality. Borderline rude, at best indifferent waitstaff. Slow service. Ok food. Wasted opportunity."
Dined on 6/23/2013
Been to Wine Cellar twice now and
both times have been outstanding. The waitstaff is friendly and prompt, and service is made even more personalized and attentive by the owner (I assume?) who is charming and more than happy to make recommendations, answer questions, and just chat for a moment! Both of us found the wine he recommended fantastic (impressive, as I'm a wine person but my boyfriend usually isn't). Besides the wine, you might be coming in for the fondue (delicious), but I implore you try their other offerings, especially tartiflette, a simple but phenomenal French dish."

We went here once before and were
pleased. This time not so pleased; we were seated at a table which had chocolate fondue drips all over the tablecloth. Gross. They moved us. The place was not busy so our waitress kept looking for something to do. She poured our wine to the brim if the glass....a nice red wine so you might as well have picked something lame. In fact it tasted lame. The whole meal we felt she was hovering."
Dined on 5/19/2013
The waiter was probably new, but
was trying very hard and was very friendly."
Dined on 5/12/2013
Was a little disappointed because
we did not get what we ordered. Notably the fondue we order said the onions would be cook but they were raw which ruined the meal."
Dined on 4/24/2013
great experience...loved the
chocolate fondue...brownies awesome!"
Dined on 4/22/2013
The Wine Cellar is very cute and
the food and service are great, but they have crammed too many tables into a tiny space. The guests and the waiters have a hard time not knocking each other over. It is also very hard to hear the person across the table, the acoustics are that bad."
Dined on 4/12/2013
Nice cozy setting. Outstanding
service starting from the explanation of the fondue choices to good cheese, wine and desert recommendations. Disappointed in the cut of meats used in the entree fondue."
Dined on 4/11/2013
Went during restaurant week and
completely enjoyed the experience. We had the three course fondue menu and by the second course we were well full! The staff were helpful in their recommendations. Was a great spot for a romantic dinner."
Dined on 3/18/2013
I walked passed this place manyt
times and decided to take my girlfriend here for her birthday. The meat and seafood was fresh and of high quality . We settled on a nice bottle of Barolo to go with our prix fixe dinner. Service was very friendly and attentive. I love that you enjoy your meal at your own place since we selected the pierrade table top cooking. The flambee done on the pierrade was way cool. Everything was delicious and such a fun dining experence."
Dined on 4/2/2013
This most recent time I dined was
during restaurant week. I had an amazing time and as always the food was great but I had hoped for a few dished that were not offered during restaurant week. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to enjoy good food and celebrate a special occasion. Not good for families but very good for romantic dates or friends enjoying good food."
Dined on 3/27/2013
The Wine Cellar was a lovely
experience. We love the menu and the staff is truely great. Everyone should try fondue at least once. This is not at all like the Melting Pot, so don't be thrown off by assuming. Thierry and Hong are excellent hosts, the portions are just right, and of course the wines are special as well."
Dined on 3/28/2013
Very good meal with very good
service. What else can you ask for?"
Dined on 3/25/2013
Unfortunately, Wine Cellar turned
out to be a disappointment. While we had looked at the Restaurant Week (RW) menu and expected highly of it, the food was only, well, fair. The Cheese Fondue starter was probably the best. My entree of Steak Frites was only fair, quite well done even though the server suggested medium rare, and here, I am not even trying to compare the steak with Mooo or Ruth Chris even though it's the same RW prices. The lady's entree of Ravioli was pure disappointment, with watery marinara sauce. Our desserts of Mango Mousse cake were also uninspiring. The thumb up of the night was dinner with good company and good conversation."
Dined on 3/27/2013
Incredible restaurant week
experience with lot of choices for $38 per person. There is something for everything . Service was friendly and very attentive!"
Dined on 3/27/2013
The food was excellent, as always.
We were especially impressed with our server, Sarah. She made great recommendations and really catered to our entire party, including our 9 year old daughter, who had a wonderful time! We will be back again."
Dined on 3/24/2013
I went here for restaurant week
with with a group of friends. Everything was delicious and we had a good time. They even gave us a $25 voucher for our next visit."
Dined on 3/26/2013
Service was very attentive. Cheese
fondue was great. Dark chocolate fondue was great. Entrees were alright. I would have preferred the steak cooked a little differently, but I forgot to ask. Very quiet and small. There was no music playing. Overall the experience was enjoyable."
Dined on 3/19/2013
We took our Mom here for her 74th
birthday. What a mistake. Parking is nigh on impossible and there is no valet parking. We went on a Sunday thinking it would be easy to park. Sorely disappointed in this place. Food was late, delivered lukewarm, staff was inattentive. Ambiance was terrible. Place looks like a homeless shelter."
