Diner Reviews
  • "I am a bar person. When we arrived for dinner on Saturday evening, and noticed that the bar was empty, we decided to sit there instead of at a table. For the next 10 minutes we watched the same 4 to 5 employees walk by, and grab glasses of water, wine, etc. None of them stopped by to greet us, offer menus, or see if we have been helped. There was, what appeared to be a manager, at the end of the bar at a cash register that was busy chatting up another customer and looked over a couple of times. We decided after being ignored by every employee in the place that we would leave. The hostess wished us a good evening as we left not realizing that we were the last people that walked into the restaurant. Very disappointing for sure."

  • "I can't say enough about the customer service here. It's beyond reproach! We had a tiny glitch in our order (forgot the salad) and were apologized to numerous times (it wasn't a big deal) and taken out to the patio for a cozy table and complementary dessert!"

  • "Stopped for 1night to have dinner with local friends and picked this place on a lark. What fun! Not rushed, had several different wines with variety of entrees ... and Tuscan popcorn! A nice evening visit in a nice place - compliments on great and eclectic menu, and an impressive array of wines too."

  • "Of these many Wine Bistro locations in central Ohio, this location seems to be lacking something. First of all, the staff seem to be young people who aren't very experienced in wine. Getting a bottle recommendation was a futile task. I pulled out my good old iPhone and located a bottle that was stellar. The staff seem to be content talking amongst themselves and the tables suffer for it. This experience, the waitress kept disappearing for great chunks of time. It was frustrating to say the least. The Lane Avenue location is so far superior to the Worthington location, which is a pity since I live in Worthington - I'd prefer to drive the distance to be in a setting with other oenophiles."

  • "Service was slow, wine was expensive, food was good, but nothing exceptional. 8$ corkage, fee if you buy a bottle off the shelf, are you kidding me??? Wife and I had fixe prix dinners , 2 glasses of wine each, and an appetizer, and we left with a $130 dollar bill. A lot for mediocre. Waitress was good, but an hour and a half was a bit long for our liking"

  • "Our first time and we were disappointed. Service was slow. My wife's entree was nothing like it was described in the menu (Beef Tenderloin and Grilled Vegetables) - it was basically a big dish of salad with a few slices of beef (which was tasty) on it. Deserts were ok. Appetizer (Veal Meatball) was hard and chewy. The good news is the manager adjusted the bill accordingly. We will give it another try, but will stick to sandwiches and flatbreads......"

  • "We went for restaurant week late on a Friday night. I've been here multiple times before; food is great, relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff. However, this time it was a horrible experience. From the time we sat down, it took us two hours to get out... And that was with us having to get Up, walk inside and ask for our checks and dessert to go. It took at least 35 minutes for our salads to come out. By the time the main entrees came out, the steak was cold and pasta lukewarm. The server wasn't apologetic until we came inside to complain and did nothing to compensate the inconvenience. In fact, she handed us an incorrect bill totaling $40 than our actual bill. In short, do go here if you're on a time crunch or during restsaurant week."

  • "This is about our 4th time at wine bistro in the last few years. Their food and service are always inconsistent. This time, we went for 614 restaurant week and my meatball came out hard and frozen in the middle and my husband's entree had an issue as well. Our server was gracious and accommodating, but, the manager was condescending and made us feel like the problems were our fault. All in all, the wine selection is great, but, they fall short on food execution."

  • "We had a great meal sitting outside at our request. Portions were tasty and generous. Would be fun to frequent"

  • "Dinner was good, but the meatball appetizer was delicious."

  • "Interesting and delicious menu selection. Vast wine list. Informed and engaged servers/sommeliers. The GM, Deb, is very involved in ensuring a great dining experience."

  • "First time disappointed with everything. Poor service, smaller portions than we had in the past, no "something extra" for my wife's birthday. Just not a good dining experience."

  • "My wife and I have been here a few times. We always enjoy the food, service and of course, the wine. It was a nice evening so we sat outside. In spite of the rush hour traffic it was very quiet with some nice background music."

  • "Very nice place to dine and relax with a good bottle of wine.A meal can be made of the appetizers alone. The flatbread and pasta dishes are all very nicely done.Service is very good with a strong attention to detail. This was our second visit and we will certainly go back."

  • "Great ambiance, food is top notch. Staff make every effort to make visit personal. Great place to wine and dine at bar, meet some new friends, great conversations...bar staff introduces themselves, asks for your name and remembers it all night."

  • "We expected a good wine selection and hoped the food would be at least adequate. The wine selection was filled with unusual selections, and those we selected were excellent. (We took home a bottle.) But the surprise was the food. The fondue appetizer (who gets fondue anymore?) was very tasty, the beef short rib entree was great, as were its veggies, and the crab cakes were superb. We don't always have dessert, but tried the vanilla ice cream with port wine soaked warm cherries; wow! Great finish to a meal that will definitely bring us back."

  • "I was seeking a non-chain dining experience near the Polaris strip. Open Table came through with this adorable restaurant. The Wine Bar is in a small strip plaza next to a Dunkin' Donuts drive through. Outdoor tables with varied umbrellas greet you as you walk into a nicely organized wine store with a beautiful wooden bar and tables throughout the space. The menu offers small plates for munching or snacking with wine flights as well as entrees. I opted for a dish with fettuccine and sea food including shrimp, scallops, lobster and more. it was perfect! No cream sauce and veggies like asparagus and mushrooms included. Wines by the glass were offered and reasonably priced. I recommend the short drive to this establishment."

  • "This was our first time at any of The Wine Bistro locations. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals and experience. It is our type of place -- a place which offers a variety of foods, each with its own flair and twist, often with healthy and fresh ingredients. The Bistro has a good wine selection at very reasonable prices. We loved it!"

  • "This place is the best for a small bite and good conversation. The plates are small, shareable and delicious. The wines are delicious and the wine flights are great choices. The service is friendly. They're outdoor seating is nice. You can see a pond in the distance. Love."

  • "We had reservations at the Wine Bistro on a Saturday at 6:30. We were seated immediately but it took about 10 mins. for someone to greet us. After we picked out a white wine, it took 30 mins. for the server to chill it and bring it to us which seemed a bit long. If we had known it would take this long, we would have gotten a bottle of red. While the food was all excellent, our service was incredibly slow and we had to wait for 45 mins. to get our appetizers and flatbread. We rarely saw our server and had to flag her down to order more wine. This was only our first time at the Wine Bistro so we weren't sure if this is typical or not. I would try it again though due to the fact that they have a great wine selection and delicious food."

  • "The wine was very good. Great wine selection. Loved the atmosphere. The server was top-notch. Food was so-so and the desserts were disappointing but I would be willing to try other dishes. Sticker shock when I saw the bill. Order wine by the bottle and forgo the samplers."

  • "This is my go to place for entertaining out of town friends. Its location, food and service is so good. The hummas platter is so good. (I could eat the Olive hummus for days) The food is amazing, and its really good for you! The wine selection is awesome. The outside patio is adorable for spring/summer/fall. I cannot wait to go again!"

  • "Two out of five visits to your bistro we have had terrible service and you have been out of some gluten free option. Will go elsewhere. Too inconsistent with food and service. You were out of gluten free crackers and steak all in one sitting?"

  • "This was a great restaurant to have a girls night out. The server was very nice and provided great customer service. We enjoyed some appetizers and the flights of wine. The food and wine was delicious! I would definitely recommend this restaurant and location to my friends and family."

  • "Very nice atmosphere, the decor was a tad "country" but really enjoyed the dim lighting. Seems like it's more suited to 40+ crowd. Food was excellent, and more unique than something you would get at a big chain. Service was OK, but they were really busy and we still got a table immediately so I can't complain."

  • "First visit to this small local chain. Waited at least 45 minutes past our reservation time of 7:45 p.m. due to table squatters. Management (Deb) had some level of concern as time moved on. Ended up with a decent table between the bar and the kitchen. Our group had two bottles of wine that were suggested and sampled before they were brought to the table. Really enjoyed the warm olive appetizer and the gluten free fondue. The popcorn seemed ok as well. The entrees were just ok - really nothing remarkable. We had crab cakes, chicken marsala, a flat bread, shortribs and a grilled chicken salad. The best of the bunch was probably the flatbread. Bottom line is that we'll go again -for the wine and some appetizers."

  • "For the location they've don't a great job at making your feel like you're not in a strip bar. I think Columbus lacks a cool sense of itself, but the Wine Bistro makes you think you're in another city; which is a good thing. Cool decor, good lighting, makes me want to order an entire bottle of wine and drink it until it's gone. I dig the flat bread (aka: Hipster name for pizza) and the winery salad."

  • "My husband and I had a great time. The restaurant must have expanded to the building next door because they had separate dinning space with it's own entrance, and during our entire visit we were the only ones seated in that area so it was like we had the whole place to ourselves. It was romantic and quiet and we really enjoyed ourselves."

  • "This was the first time at this location although we've been to the one in Upper Arlington and Clintonville . The servers at the other 2 locations are more knowledgeable and helpful with wine selection than here. I had the salmon salad which was delicious . The mushroom flatbread is super cheesy. The restaurant was packed so I think our waitress was super busy because she didn't check on us at all after our meals came. Would recommend the Wine Bistro but not this specific location ."

  • "On my reservation, I requested a "preferred table". It was my 82 year old mother's birthday. We were shown to a high top with wooden barstools with no backs. I refused the table, and after much discussion she gave us an open table that was for a 7:15 reservation. Ours was at 7:00. The hostess said they do not get info from online requests!! Really?"

  • "I had some high hopes for my meal here. It was date night with the boyfriend, and after a difficult week, I was really looking forward to a nice evening. I should mention that it was restaurant week and very busy, which may account for some of the issues we encountered during our dinner. The good: -Promptly seated -Friendly waiter -Salad, short ribs, and bread pudding were good The bad: -Waited OVER and hour for our first courses (a salad and a meatball). No comped drinks offered for our wait, not even bread brought to the table. -Meatball was burnt -Fusilli dish had a burnt garlic taste -Tables were bunched together a little closely, so wait staff nearly hit our table with their butts on occasion"

  • "We will definitely be coming back. The atmosphere was very cozy and romantic. I was super impressed with the wine selection and the Cabernet I had was perfect. The food was surprisingly excellent (since there are 3 in the area, I wasn't sure if this place was like a local "chain" or not, which had me skeptical at first). I had the short ribs & risotto, and the triple chocolate pots de creme, and both were absolutely amazing."

  • "Went to catch up with a girlfriend during Restaurant Week. Our server, Katie, was wonderful! She was very knowledgeable of the extensive wine list and was very personable. She entertained us with funny stories, made several wine recommendations, offered us tastings, and also made wonderful recommendations for the dinner selections. I ordered the fusilli with prosciutto while my girlfriend had the short ribs. Both were wonderful! The veal meatball was voted the best appetizer and I agree!!! I even asked to try a different desert as I didnt care for what I ordered and they were happy to accomodate. Another employee came over to talk to us. He was lovely as well!!!! Great food, wine, ambience and best of all TOP NOTCH SERVICE!"

  • "Our seating was not great for one reason, chairs to low table to high. It was a Friday so noise level was loud. Lunch is a better choice for me."

  • "Loved the wine list. The fondue trio was fun to share with a group of 4. The host brought over a bowl of complimentary bowl of Tuscan Popcorn. The taste was great, but it was grossly over-buttered. The entrees and salads we ordered were good (winery salad, pesto chicken flatbread), but not necessarily noteworthy. Fun atmosphere and good wine. The service was good, however our waitress was overattentive. We were there for a leisurely visit and she repeatedly tried to clear our food before we were ready. She had a nice demeanor, but it made it hard to relax and visit."
