A word from The Willeyville
The Willeyville is gathering place for food and drink, a place that strips away the formality of fine dining and has fun taking food and service seriously. Our cocktails are crafted using all house made juices, bitters, mixes of various sorts. Some cocktails are as old as John Willey himself while other cocktails are a bit more modern, but all delicious.

Our menu is an ever changing homage to the lost art of homemade food, seasonal ingredients, and American cuisine. America is a melting pot and our cuisine draws upon many different influences. We have several comforting selections on our menu that are familiar. You also have plenty of room to explore different techniques, flavors, cultures, with an emphasis on house-made items.

It is exciting and humbling to be able to mix, cook, and serve you, we hope you enjoy it as much as we love doing it!

Unfortunately, it just came up short. Nice bar, friendly bartenders, great drinks....After sitting for dinner, we waited ten minutes for an apologetic waiter to come to our table, though he was competent when he finally arrived. Nice, creative calamari app. Not so sure about the kale pesto(!). Simple salad was fresh and perfectly dressed, though maybe a little TOO simple (could've used something else -- goat cheese? Walnuts?). Excessively long wait for our dinners (35 minutes). Wife's Korean ribs were simply too salty/spicy/dry -- this wouldn't have been so bad if the accompanying side dish (spicy noodles) had been 'cool' (like a slaw). My flank steak was very nicely cooked, but the chef was too heavy-handed with the salt.

A Saturday evening visit to Willeyville was so disappointing. Service was friendly and efficient, although a bit pompous and drinks were good. Four of us ordered only entrees. Bread was dry, no soups were on the menu and salads sounded routine. One dish in particular, the Asian ribs, was especially disappointing. I asked if the ribs were short ribs, and the server answered that they were not braised but were a little chewier than braised ribs. They in fact, had very little meat on them and what there was was gristly. The noodles served with them were a bit overdone; the only flavor discerned was hot chile. Others in the party thought their dishes - chicken and pork - were just passable. I don't think any of us will return.

We went with another family, with 3 teens total- and our toughest critics. They loved the Willeyville, as did we. It is hip, trendy, and served outstanding food. It also brings some zest back to the flats, which we had not tried in a while since it had gone through its rough last few decades. Service was attentive and light hearted in a good way. We will definitely be back.

I was impressed at the great food that this restaurant made of the types not normally made by a restaurant. The meat appetizer platter was plenty for 2 or 3 every 4 perhaps. They age and treat these meats and they were fantastic. Plus they had pickled vegetables. They make a ginger drink that was fantastic like drinking the ginger that comes with Sushi. But sweeter. Split a chicken BLT for dinner it was great. Dessert was a cobbler with malt ice cream. Yummy.

A small menu, expertly executed! Everything we tried at our table was in a word FLAWLESS! I am not a fan of HUGE menus because it's impossible to find anything that's above average. On a small menu, there is time, care, and love put into every single plate. It shows at The Willeyville. I love that the bitters, syrups, sauces, ginger beer, etc. etc. etc., are all made in house. Everything is fresh and creative, yet not so complex that it intimidates. Excellent! I hope this restaurant is around for a long time to come. We WILL be back, and WILL bring friends!

Great place! We went to Willeyville on Saturday, September 13, 2014 to celebrate my 27th birthday. It was a last minute decision to go out to dinner and I was frantically looking for a restaurant that could accommodate 10-12 people. Willeyville came up on OpenTable. My friends and I had not heard of it, but after checking out their website we decided to give it a try. The restaurant is located in the newly developed (re-vamped) area of the Flatts next to Lago and Ken Stewart's. It has a great view of the blue bridge and downtown Cleveland. The staff was very nice. The food was DELICIOUS! Highly recommended.

Finally got to the Willeyville and I was not disappointed. Interesting menu with many dishes we wanted to try. Loved the popcorn and fried pickled vegetables. The pork ramen dish I had for main was a little disappointing, but tasty enough. The hightlight was the best Dark and Stormy cocktail I have ever had. The flavour of their house made ginger beer is what makes this drink stand out. We dined outside on a beautiful night. Unfortunately the immediate view is messy with construction going but looking beyond that the view of other lit restaurants and the bridge was very pretty. I loved the outdoor summer vibe of not only the Willeyville but the collection of restaurants in that area of the flats. I will be back to enjoy it again.

We just went to Willeyville with a small group for my wife's birthday. This was our first visit. Great bar, and a cool vibe inside and out. We loved the fact that it's a scratch kitchen, literally every ingredient is made in house. The food was good but we did feel the whole experience was slightly overpriced, just slightly. We also found it odd that on a Saturday night, in downtown Cleveland, we were the only people left in the place at 9:00pm. Anyway, worth checking out, once, maybe twice.

Saturday was our fourth visit to The Willeyville, and the food is as creative and enjoyable as the first. Unfortunately, with each visit , we find the restuarant becoming less busy than the previous visit. We were at this restaurant on a Saturday night at 7pm and there were less than a dozen tables of guests. Perhaps the high prices and limited menu keep people away along with a still developing Flats area of Cleveland where there isn't much else but three restaurants and a hotel to draw a crowd is the reason. Certainly there are other areas of Cleveland that are easier to access and have better values within their menus. Service was very professional and attentive. Likely not going to visit until things change.

There are many unique eateries in Tremont, Ohio City and in the Cleveland Flats where the food is delightfully prepared by an experienced chef. The Willeyville is one of these special places. We chose this restaurant after reading a number of great reviews. We were not disappointed, the food is great, the service is excellent and we plan on going there again.

This place is a great addition to downtown. It's small enough to feel intimate but also has a good vibe. The staff is knowledgable but laid back to make your experience relaxing. The meatloaf with bone marrow tater tots and hanger steak are excellent. Their fresh ingredients, including fresh puréed kale and Olive oil dip for bread, make everything about this farm to table restaurant worth the money.

Have eaten at Willeyville several times now and tried new things each time. Each time I have tried something outside my comfort zone. I might be described as being a narrow minded eater who keeps ordering the same thing once I find something I like. But not here. The appetizers, the specials, and even the deserts are creative and so, so good. Have yet to try something I did not really like. Great place. Try something different if you go to Willeyville! The chef clearly loves coming up with intersting dishes so you may as well enjoy what he comes up with!

I really can't say enough about my experience at Willeyville. The server, Amanda, was extremely knowledgeable about the menu, ingredients, and even preparation of the food. I rarely provide restaurant reviews, but the food, service, and attention to detail was so amazing that I have to give them their due. We started the meal with a kale-based pesto and yummy sourdough bread. The pesto was so light and fresh tasting. We moved onto house made ricotta with evoo and fresh herbs. All four of would've liked to lick the plate clean! I ordered one of the specials, which was scallops with a corn puree underneath and a spicy salsa on top. Everything we ate was light, flavorful, and really well thought out. The chef greeted us as well!

the drinks were FANTASTIC! Best in the area! A little too much on the pepper and hot seasoning in most dishes, for me but otherwise quite tasty. I asked for calamari with just the rings, not the entire thing (grosses me out) and was told they couldn't do it. That was a bit disappointing since I always ask for it that way at other establishments and never have had a "no" - otherwise I would have given them 5 stars for service.

Half way through our appetizers, I proclaimed this place is my favorite restaurant in Ohio. Luckily, the rest of the meal followed suit. This place is the best! Upon entry, we were struck by the cool ambiance and decor (the back bar and the light fixtures are gorgeous!). The service was great - helpful and present, but not overly obtrusive. They are clearly excited about the food they're serving, which makes you excited to eat it. The cocktails were delicious, with an interesting twist (whey instead of egg whites? genius!). All the food is made completely from scratch in-house. We ate the whipped ricotta, calamari with tzatziki, fried pickled vegetables, meatloaf, pork chop, ricotta gnudi (and all the desserts) and we loved everything.

I hadn't been to the Flats in several years and my daughter suggested we eat here. We were there on a Tuesday night at 6 PM and there was only one other party there when we arrived. It was Happy Hour so our glasses of wine were $2 off, and we enjoyed the chardonnay and cab wines served by the glass. The hummus appetizer was good. The grilled salmon tacos, at $19, was good but came with only three hard-shell tacos with skimpy contents. The contents tasted very good, but just not enough of it, and not worth the price. We sat at the bar and our server gave us very good service and was very knowledgeable about the menu and the wines.

Love love love this place! They make everything in house. By everything I mean everything. You really can't go wrong with their menu. Definitely get something with pork in it. They by whole pigs and do the butchering in house. Also speaking of pork...they now serve house made hotdogs at the bar day and night, dining room at lunch. Probably the best hot dog I've ever had. We did the Asian one. It has Kimchi, friend onions, miso mayo, and came on a steamed bun. I'm salivating thinking about it. Anyway...this is one of my new favorite spots. Dont miss it!
