The WharfTops the competitionThe wharf stands out in an area chock full of restaurants! Food is always perfect, with a huge menu complemented with mouth-watering Specials. Service is friendly and efficient, and the prices are bargain for the area. Best of all: the wharf is dark and QUIET, with no Muzak blasting into patrons' ears and ruling their meal!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat night out!I took my finance and her mother hear for dinner and we had a very nice evening. People were nice, great food, good wine list, and a nice quiet area upstairs so we could enjoy each others company.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Crab CakeMy husband and I dined at The Wharf to celebrate our anniversary. We were seated at a cozy table by the window and received very special attention from our waiter. The seafood was very fresh and the flavor was out of this world. The crab cake was the highlight. It was all lump crab meat and melt-in-your-mouth good. I would highly recommend The Wharf for any occasion.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent ServiceA bit of confusion for reservations holders, several families with "lost" reservations attempting to bully waiter into quick seating disrupting the process, reservation for 130 seated by 140. Cioppino was excellent service outstanding.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat SelectionThe Wharf was a last minute Mother's Day dinning selection that turned out to be outstanding! Thankfully this is the first time we had a less than perfect experience. Their reservation system was a mess. We arrived a few moments before our time and proceeded to wait in line 15 minutes before we were even able to tell them we were there. Then I saw people with reservations later than ours push their way to the front and get seated before those of us with earlier reservations who had been waiting already. The second issue I had was that at some point a very loud and obnixious group arrived. Ironically they were seated right behind the host. Every other word was a loud curse yet no one every asked them to stop. It was disruptive.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMI live in Kansas CityThere were 13 of us--all familiar with above average dining. They all raved about the food, service and atmosphere. Our compliments to the staff, chef, managers and owners. A highlight of our 4-day visit in DC.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Wharf is one of our all-timeThe Wharf is one of our all-time favorite neighborhood restaurants. Best crab cakes in town, always wonderful servers. We were seated upstairs which is quite noisy on a busy night. We much prefer the quieter downstairs area, but one takes what one can get at this popular local and tourist spot.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMReally enjoyed the brunchReally enjoyed the brunch sitting in the front by the bar4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything about our experienceEverything about our experience was excellent. We made waitress aware we needed to be done in one hour in order to make show at Kennedy Center and she made sure we were taken care of in a very timely manner. We were given scenic view from second floor room, right next to window. Food was excellent from the salad to the main courses.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMFish Cooked exquisitelyFish was perfect, wide selection of beers on tap and affordable salads. Everyone at the tables' favorite was the seafood lobster pasta, followed by the lobster mashed potatoes.
I brought my in-laws here and they are very picky mid-western eaters and they truly gobbled every last bite.
The waiter was attentive, even though he was very busy. He even managed to surprise my father-in-law with a birthday cheesecake.
I didn't get a chance to let him know in advance and he really pulled it off. I turned to my husband and say, "I think I found my male counter(part) server", for I too am a waitress in Old Town.
He was quick with jokes and always had our water glasses refilled.
It was a Saturday night(and Cherry Blossom weekend) and it was vivacious in there.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways enjoy dinner at theAlways enjoy dinner at the Wharf. Food is outstanding. Would definitely go back next time in town.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Wharf = Excellent SeafoodWe visited The Wharf on a busy Saturday night in Old Town Alexandria. We were seated in a charming bar area almost immediately upon our arrival. The menu was 90%+ seafood, which was just what we were looking for. My husband was happy because they served many traditionally prepared dishes (versus eclectic) in combinations that sounded good. I wasn't terribly hungry, so I had a yummy Caesar salad and the bacon wrapped scallops in a pan Asian sauce- these were excellent! Fresh scallops with crispy bacon- it doesn't get much better than that.
My husband had a wedge salad he liked and a seafood platter with a crab cake, broiled scallops and one other item that slips my mind. He liked it very well. They had an extensive wine list.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat last minute findArriving from out of town on a Friday night during Cherry Blossom Festival time, we decided to dine at The Wharf where we enjoyed a tasty seafood dinner - recommend the crab cakes!! Our waiter, Miguel, provided excellent service, the perfect blend of friendliness, politeness, attentiveness. It made for a very enjoyable dining experience. Open Table made it easy to snare a reservation in what turned out to be a packed house. If we are in Old Town again, we would definitely return.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMFood and wine were fantastic.Food and wine were fantastic. The Wharf is located right in the middle of Old Town Alexandria and the restaurant and King Street (by the Potomac River) is very quaint and lots of fun to walk around and visit. They offer a number of really neat seafood specials each night and it is hard to make up your mind. Their She Crab soup is wonderful. I love the steak and seafood combo (I love their garlic shrimp) - desserts are great too! Service is great too!!!2/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food, servcie and atmoshereThe food, servcie and atmoshere can't be beat. I ordered the Eggs Benedict with crab (no ham) and my husband had the stuffed flounder. Both of us were quite happy; my eggs were cooked perfectly. I also tried the zippy bloody mary which was a nice change from the standard glass of wine or mimosa.1/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
