The Westgate Hotel - The Westgate RoomFINEST FOOD IN SAN DIEGOAn absolute must for those that want to have a great dinner prior to a CIVIC CENTER show. (its right across the street!) A bit pricey but worth every dime. This is not our first visit and wont be the last. Tenderloin Is a melt in your mouth delight. Try the appetizer Mozzarella Di Bufalo with Parmesan ice cream!!!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMThe menu had new items. BothThe menu had new items. Both the seafood chowder and the seafood risotto were very good. Although the risotto had more of a polenta consistency, it was well presented and prepared and I liked the taste. Service, however, was not up to par. As a result, we had to skip dessert and were almost late for the opera.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMWe always enjoy the Westgate. We always enjoy the Westgate. We go there prior to the opera on Tuesday evenings, and we always enjoy the convenience to the opera, the food, and the service. We are never disappointed.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place for a dining experienceThe minute you step into the hotel, you're transported into a mini Versailles...lovely serene atmosphere and beautiful furnishings etc in the lobby. The restaurant itself is tucked away in the back and is truly a "hidden gem". Beautiful table setting (real flowers, tablecloths) old school service (refined, very attentive but not stuffy) and the food is great. Our lunch trio ordered the Monte Cristo (what?!?...when do you ever see that on a menu anymore?) the vegetarian sandwich, and the shrimp club...all were prepared perfectly and all very tasty. There are TONS of places to eat downtown, but this is a little bit of paradise in the 92101 jungle of restaurants!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
