The Waverly InnExcellent food in the cozyExcellent food in the cozy yet sophisticated setting of a landmark neighborhood gem.
Outstanding service: informed, friendly, with the perfect amount of
attentiveness. Wonderful evening for my wife, daughter and myself, rank out-of-towners.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMCharmingThe Waverly Inn has somehow avoided letting its great reputation and famous clientele go to its head. It is perfectly charming. The cuisine is excellent, innovative without pretense.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMSharing a childhood memoryAh, nostalgia. The Waverly Inn of today did not disappoint my childhood memories. It's a beautiful place and eating in the garden is a lovely experience. Our food was delicious, served attentively and attractively.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMSuper charming and delicious food! It's probably one of the coziest restaurants in NY! Both their indoor and their patio are lovely, great for a romantic date or a brunch with friends. Their eggs benedict are amazing.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMhighly recommendedi loved the place, the environment, and the people. the service is very good. the decoration very cute, and they have different areas with different ambiances. the wine list is a never ending story, fantastic! all wines are amazing (expensive too), and the food is very good (very classy american, but tasty and nice: comfort food). I want to go back, many times! i want to try their little terrace. I just love the place. One of my favorites in NYC!!! highly recommended!!5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious seasonal fareHad dinner at Waverly Inn a few nights ago. The menu was full of locally sourced ingredients. I had the snap pea salad with frisee and it was delicious. My friend had the roasted vegetable salad and it was a heaping plate of beautiful veggies. She also had the pea and mint soup and raved about it. I had the chicken pot pie for my main and it hit the spot on a rainy night.
Our waiter was friendly and helpful without being intrusive.
I would definitely recommend The Waverly Inn and plan to go back soon.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect, perfect mealThe Waverley Inn was recommended by a friend in London, so we booked it for the evening before my boyfriend's birthday. Little did I know that he was going to propose that morning though, so we turned up at the Waverley absolutely on Cloud 9, and luckily it didn't disappoint at all. The food was incredible, the ambience was really special, and we felt that we were treated like royalty (by our lovely waiter Zach). We wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others, and intend to return every time we're in NY.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWe came here for our anniversary. We came here for our anniversary. The food was great and the ambience excellent. Unfortunately, we were seated very close to an unreasonably loud couple, which left a sour taste on an otherwise romantic evening.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMI had forgotten about thisI had forgotten about this place and am so happy it showed up in my Open Table recommendation. The last two times I've gone, it's been for a girls night out, and had a great time and wonderful meal. But I just took my husband for the first time on a Sunday night and it was like I'd never been there before. This is a true gem of te west village. You feel like you are in Europe walking down Bank or Jane. And then u step into the most idyllic restaurant with excellent food. Going to make it a Sunday night ritual.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMI went the The Waverly InnI went the The Waverly Inn for brunch with a friend and we were both very pleased. We sat in the conservatory which had a lovely atmosphere. The food was delicious and the experience was very pleasant overall.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMLove the mac and cheese withLove the mac and cheese with truffles, even though it is expensive... nice to be shared, b/c it is a heavy dish. But wonderful!4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMLne of mi bestia dining experienciaLne of mi bestia dining experiencias in New York City. A real treasure4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent brunch. I had aExcellent brunch. I had a fennel/crimini mushroom omelet with a side of salad. Both were delicious. Very light and satisfying. The service was courteous but quite slow this time. I suspect they were short-handed.
We were in the conservatory room, which is perfect on a sunny day, which this was.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMHard to put in to words howHard to put in to words how fabulous the dinner experience was! The food was incredible and the service was wonderful and very personable. IT was a very cool atmosphere as well!4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMA MUSTFantastic. This restaurant lived up to the rave reviews I read. Everything about this gem was over the top. We started with the kale salad that will be a benchmark that others will struggle to equal and it got better from there. We will make the Waverly a must the next time we come to the City from our home in Denver and will strongly recommend to our friends.
Can't miss.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMAfter reading other reviews,After reading other reviews, I was worried about the service as we are not part of the high brow literary crowd. I must say everyone was amazing - hostess, waiter, everyone. The bar scene was great. The food was excellent. I immediately ordered a kale salad to go so I would have it for the next day. It was a great birthday celebration and I can't wait to return.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMI was skeptical, as I am ofI was skeptical, as I am of all restaurants that come with such hype, but this was a surpsiginly great restaurant. The food was fantastic and most suprisingly, the service was friendly and attentive. Our dining companions were over an hour late, but they were willing to seat us at our reservation time anyway and put no pressure on us at all to order drinks or start dining. This was a godsend considering I was 8 1/2 months pregnant at the time. We will definitley go back!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMA "throw-back" finer eras.A "throw-back" finer eras. I remember it fondly from the days back in the 70's and 80's when my aunt and uncle lived on Bank Street just a short walk from the restaurant. It was one of their favorite spots.
So it brought back great memories to duck my head and step in through the narrow entranceway. The decor inside seemed a bit different from what I remembered. My wife and I enjoyed delicious steaks. We can't afford to eat there often, but on special occassions we will certainly consider returning to the Waverly Inn.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMBest food best service bestBest food best service best atmosphere !! Best restaurant!!3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful ambiance. Had aWonderful ambiance. Had a great booth which offered a nice sense of space and privacy. Patio out back was set up for a private event and was gorgeous! Tasty food, but a bit pricey for what you are getting.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMJust an excellent spot, especiallyJust an excellent spot, especially in the winter months.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMTop notch food, setting, rushed serGreat place, food is top notch, too dark for dining during the day unless your a vampire or sit in the conservatory which is lovely.
Service is overly zealous felt rushed!3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a wonderful time.We had a wonderful time. The staff was attentive but not overbearing. We had a lovely table in the atrium next to the fire place. I will definitely go back!3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMFood even better than the vibeAlthough we had made these reservations more for the vibe and experience of going to Waverly Inn, we were very pleasantly surprised by how good our dinner was. Our waiter Kris did a perfect job of steering our choices especially my pork belly appetizer. While my wife's scallops entree looked great, I took the prize for best entree this night with the Waverly Chicken Pot Pie. So, so, so tasty!
On the wine side of things, we found a nice Dolcetto d'Alba that easily was the best value on a somewhat pricey list. We were seated in the back room near a warming fireplace underneath a windowed roof with ivy crawling up the brick wall.
All in all, a terrific evening--even if there were no celebrity sightings.12/27/2012 12:00:00 AM
