Diner Reviews
  • "Everything was delicious except for the flan which we had for dessert. We have had a lot better. It was missing the caramel sauce. Our surprise 47th anniversary dessert was awesome. Overall, it was a great dining experience."

  • "Our dinner was excellent, all the food was wonderful. Our server David was very attentive and insightful on the menu. He enhanced our experience with his knowledge of the menu, his energy and his overall service."

  • "We received a call earlier in the day to confirm our reservation and they asked if it was a special occasion and we said yes, it was our 21st Wedding Anniversary. When we got to the restaurant they sat us in a very uncomfortable couch, we asked to be moved to a table and they said they had to see if any other table was available. We couln't understand because the place was empty! They finally moved us. Then came the rushed and terrible service! The hostess, the waitress and the manager that came to our table after dinner, not once, did anyone wish us a Happy Anniversary! Why ask if you really don't care! As for the food, it was overcooked! The Wave Restaurant was not what we expected! We are very, very disappointed, we will not be returning"

  • "Dining at The Wave is extraordinary: the ease of Open Table to find the perfect time for our busy family - and confirmation call; expert preparation of vegetarian Cuban cuisine and presentation from the chef; delicious key lime tart for dessert; kind and thoughtful servers for a very fine experience."

  • "first the service was simply outstanding. friendly and attentive as well as focused on our needs. Top that off with Sous Chef Omar's food and this was an adventure in dining. Wave is one of our regular hot spots for food and fun!"

  • "Food was excellent, but restaurant was unpleasantly noisy. We found it difficult to hear each other or the waiting staff and left immediately after finishing our main course. Also found the seating and tables uncomfortable to sit at …. either the tables are 2 “ too high or the seats 2” to low. Would not recommend for a special occasion as ours was."

  • "The staff from the entrance, to seating, to waiter, was great at providing service. Friendly, accommodating, and professional. The ambience was great and we enjoyed it. This extends to the pool bar as well. The kitchen was open to see thru from the dining. Dining had candles at the table and since we were celebrating, we were seated at the sophisticated booth area. The bar was on the side and the seating was nice. The blue lighting made it more intimate feeling even sitting at the bar. It was quiet but busy. Mojitos were delicious, including skinny mojito. The plantain chips were long and tasty. Their meal was filling and we had leftovers! We had a great time and would definitely come back."

  • "My fiancée and I wanted to try the restaurant as we are considering the resort for our wedding. My fiancée ordered the Ceasar salad with tiger shrimp and I ordered the 8 oz filet mignon. Both of our meals were excellent and my filet was just as good or better than most steak houses. The server was very attentive and personable. There are quite a number of servers for such a small restaurant. The only negative comment I have about the restaurant was the overall noise level. It was higher than I expected for a resort restaurant, but it was tolerable. Definitely not a romantic noise level, though. Overall, I would definitely return and I would recommend the restaurant to my friends!"

  • "We both had the barbecue rib special with jicama slaw and chicken chili. Delicious! And we enjoyed the view of the resort pool to ocean."

  • "There are many very good to excellent restaurants in Vero Beach and The Wave Kitchen is certainly one of them. Clean modern surroundings with a hint of retro and view of pool and beach. Attentive waitstaff (not overly so) and interesting dishes make for a memorable meal. Not the least expensive choice, but an experience that is worth the price if you want to indulge. "

  • "Everyone was wonderfully friendly and helpful. The food was creative and very good, although we didn't like the shrimp quesadilla. The soup du jour and the burger and seasoned fries were very tasty. The server was helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. The prices were extremely reasonable. The ambiance was a bit sterile. the restrooms had more vibrance and character than did the dining area! We would return for lunch."

  • "I ordered a filet mignon and received a very odd cut of meat. It was tender, but had an odd aftertaste that was "off". I love the hotel, but doubt I'd go to the restaurant again for dinner. Breakfast and lunch was fine."

  • "At our table we had 2 adults and 4 teenagers who can be particular. Three of our group ordered seafood and the other 3 had beef dishes. The menu has an interesting variety of selections. All of the food including the desserts were excellent. Our server was friendly, helpful and enthusiastic. Everyone enjoyed the food and ambiance."

  • "The food and the service were excellent. We expected Cuban inspired food and were overwhelmed by the quality and freshness of it all. The wait staff were very knowledgeable and helpful. We will certainly be back and will bring friends. The atmosphere was very pleasant."

  • "What was supposed to be a special night turned out to be a huge disappointment. Our server went missing half way through the service and there was clearly some political issues amongst the servers. The ambience would could have great but was very average. The lights kept going up and then down. Most importantly while the food looked impressive it completely lacked taste. I had salmon which is not difficult to cook and it was overdone. The wine list was very limited. Both Cobalt and the Citrus Grill but it too shame."

  • "Paella was pitched to be way more than was delivered especially for the price. Bread was good but the butter must have come from or was inspired by China Coast and had too much honey in it."

  • "We enjoyed our first time dining here so much that we made reservations and went again the following night. The wait-staff made you feel welcome; it was readily apparent they knew the contents of the menu by how they were able to describe the dishes. My wife had sea scallops with a maple syrup reduction and risotto that was outstanding - I ended up ordering it the following night. We enjoyed talking with the manager; you could tell she loved her job and made sure everyone was having a pleasant dining experience. I highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "We were running very late. Most other places would have told us better luck next time. But they took our order over the phone so they could get it in before the kitchen closed. about three min. after we arrived, they came out with two lobster dishes, prepared to perfection accompanied by side veggies and great roasted potatoes. yum"

  • "We made reservations based on the restaurant's association with the Estefan's cuban cookbook. We had the ceviche for appetizers and were very pleased. However, dinner was a big disappointment. My husband had the Cuban style chicken, "Gloria's favorite", which boasts a creole sauce. He said it was tasteless. I had the cuban steak which was tough and chewy. The view was of the swimming pool and the ocean beyond but we were seated in front of the emergency doors and there was a large metal bar accross the middle blocking our view. Through OpenTable, I had sent a message to the restaurant that we were celebrating an anniversary, (I had made the reservations a month in advance), and had expected a little more thought to where we were seated."

  • "The Wave has a very cool contemporary vibe. The kitchen is large and you can see the chef and staff at work which I like. Great menu. I had the grilled Mahi Mahi which was prepared beautifully. My Mom had the scallops and lived them. Great bread too. Highly recommend."

  • "We had no problem making a reservation however when we arrived with our party of 6 the hostess did not have our reservation. She did get us a suitable table but I found it a little embarrassing to stand there and explain to her that we did, indeed make a reservation. Needs a little tweaking . Dinner was the best part of our experience, mostly due to the wonderful food. We will see you again for dinner. Mrs sonja wise-Frappier."

  • "Paella is their signature dish and it was wonderful and plentiful. But you must have the ceviche appetizer. This was so good I wished I had two of them. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. He called us by name. This is a great place for a special occasion, although a little pricey."

  • "It was the day after valentine's, we had decide to go out the 15th because valentines is almost impossible to get a good table. we had our reservation for 7pm but we have to wait by the bar for our table to be ready about 15mins, good excuse to start the night with a coctail. We got a great table, our server did a great job offering the special, but we had our mind set on the ceviche and paella. Yummy the ceviche is a small sampler of 3 very small so if you are hungry order something else. Paella for two is big, good portion. the only thing that bother me was thekitchen door accross the room, the light and the noise kept my attention and i dont like that. But overall was very good nice dine out. We recommend this place :)"

  • "I was called at around 10:30a.m. by the restaurant the day of my 3:00 p.m. reservation for a late lunch . The message left stated that they closed at 3:00 p.m. , and that if I wanted , I could come in earlier . Needless to say, we did not end up dining there . I worked in the restaurant business throughout college . I know how things can happen last minute . However, my reservation was made weeks prior . I would've appreciated a phone call days, if not at least 24 hours prior , so that I could have done something , either way ."

  • "The description on the menu of the food was much better than the actual food. The specialties were good (Cuban sandwich, Cuban style chicken "Gloria's favorite" and sweet, fried plantains). However, even the specialties were nothing special and overpriced. Other food was okay but again, overpriced. The view of the ocean was nice but the pool dominates and diminishes the beauty of the ocean. Service was not good; we waited much too long for our food. We would not go back."

  • "The restaurant is owned by the Estafan family and seems to feel that should drive the price higher. The food was good though not fabulous and the service was decent. We spent about $80 before the tip for 1 adult and one child with no alcohol for lunch. We're not likely to return."

  • "The ambience and view are just the beginning at The Wave. The staff is amazing and then the food and wine top all of it! Fresh ingredients, wonderful tastes and beautiful presentations, along with delightful wine choices, add up to a great meal and a great evening."

  • "The restaurant is part of the hotel Costa D'Este. Beautiful view on the outside pool and spa with light color. The presentation of plates is amazing. The service is perfect. A lot choice on the Menu. The food is good. And the wine...excellent."

  • "My dining experience began with a 10 minute wait for a wait person to come to my table to take a drinks order. Dining that day was buffet style. I was served the wrong drink. All in all it took 25 min for drink & water. Suffice it to say that it was the worst restaurant service ever experienced. Especially given that the restaurant was not busy. The food that I ate was very good. There was an absence of vegetables - heavy on proteins and carbs with little else. Salads and fruits were picked over and not much remained. I've dined here several times in the past. This was the last straw."

  • "We had never been to The Wave Kitchen at Costa D'Este before, and reserved Christmas Day brunch for four of us. I'm not one to complain, but we were SO disappointed. For the price we paid, the selection was VERY limited. The desserts were very tiny portions. We were somewhat embarrassed for the other couple we invited to dine with us. I truly have no desire now to go back. We were expecting so much more..."

  • "From the Oatmeal Brulee to the Cochon; it is a spectacular meal. The Latin guitarist was a treat. the Cochon Carver was friendly. I enjoyed watching the General Manager and the regular manager; they were so dressed up, handsome and professional. The wait staff treated us extra special as if someone important were watching them. lol. It was disappointing that I couldn't take my dessert to go;I simply had no room for dessert and as a hotel guest. Since I dined at The Wave two consecutive years, I noted the menu didn't change from one year to the next. I wished the menu were a bit different, but keep the cochon."

  • "The Christmas buffet was absolutely superb and quite a value. Mostly the food was with a Cuban flair, like roast suckling pig, ceviche, gazpacho shots, etc. Wonderful cold shrimp and salad station. Hot dishes included breakfast fare at the early sittings (which we were on). Desserts to die for. We took our time, and I didn't feel stuffed when I left because the food was mostly healthy. Unlimited champagne was a nice add-on. We also ate dinner there a couple of times, and it was outstanding. The ceviche flight with a side of yucca/reggiano fries was delicious!"

  • "My mom took me here an afternoon to celebrate my birthday before I left to return home to the Philadelphia area. We were the only ones in the restaurant since it was the end of lunch service. The plantain chips were crazy good! My only wish is that I didn't get so full so quickly. I had to take the rest of my fish home & since I was about to catch a flight I had to leave it for my father. The hotel & rooms are beautiful as well. If you're going on vacation definitely check out the full website!"

  • "Some friends provided us with a gift certificate to The Wave, which we had never experienced in our 4-5 previous trips to Vero Beach. We were very pleased with the overall experience, the food, the ambience, just everything. Donny, our waiter, was very attentive to our needs. For anyone seeking a romantic dinner, The Wave qualifies without a doubt."
