This restaurant was chosen for a special family birthday celebration. The staff was extremely attentive to each member of our party of 11. The appetizers, main courses, wines, and dessert were delightful and delicious. The evening we dined there was also pleasant music on the patio. I would characterize The Waterside Restaurant and Wine Bar as a place to return on our next visit to the area. Thank you to all the staff!

I've been here a few times and it's always a great experience. The staff is always helpful and this time directed me to the amazing Brussel sprouts which I would recommend to everyone. This is a little gem worth making the trip to.

Exceptional! The menu selections, service, and food quality are 5 star because they are that good. The wine list and beer menu are superb. Have dined throughout the country (and world) and this little gem compares well with the better restaurants out there. The best kept secret in Oxnard.

Great food and fine wine selection. Fine cheese plate and excellent grill. If you get the Tri Tip, you will have all you can eat and great left overs for a snack tomorrow. The grilled Brautwurst with a fine beer or ale can make your evening. (Try the chocolate stout!) Low key ambiance with frequent live music from good musicians. Harbor dining at it's best. The odd older reports of slow service have been addressed and corrected. Service is excellent.

I was excited to have brunch at a place that served food made with ingredients from the Farmer's Market next door. I had the fritata - was not told it was egg whites, it was flavorless. The spouse had their scramble with eggs, sausage, potatoes, wasn't too crazy about it. Just not good recipes. On the other hand, the fruit bowls, which meant fresh berries and more, the zucchini bread, the fresh greens, all heavenly, as were the blood orange mimosas. The location is charming. The music was good but too loud to talk over. I guess, give it a try and see for yourself. Try their waffles or pancakes; they might be really good.

While the food was as wonderful as always, the entertainment didn't seem to understand that it was a small space and that volume was important. AT our request our server asked him to turn it down three times, we had no luck. Two tables around us also requested he tone the volume down. No luck. Too bad as the noise level took the joy out of the dining experience.

We dined here for brunch with 7 people and found it to be a delightful experience. The view is great, the entertainment was fun and the people watching is the best. The food is good and all the vegetables and fruits they use are purchased fresh at the farmers market next to the restaurant. I had the egg scramble with sausage and bacon and it was wonderful. They also allow dogs on their outside patio. Bottomless champagne or mimosa's for $15. We will be back.

Tried this on a whim and loved it! Met the whole family for brunch al fresco, and it was wonderful. Staff was very attentive and polite, drinks were fabulous, food was well priced, and the ambience was great. Dogs are welcome and farmer's market was next store on the Sunday we went. We even had live music, and the guy let my two-year-old request Twinkle, Twinkle."

Our first visit was Mother's Day brunch, slow service was to be expected, food was very good. Second time with friends didn't even see a morsel for an hour! Frustrated. Also very small portions. This latest visit was much improved. Appropriate amounts of very tasty food. Excellent service. We went on the early side of dinner before they were terribly busy. The waiter said they were finally hitting their stride after changing ownership a year or so ago. We'll return. The scallops were just impeccable!

Had no idea this place existed until I bought a groupon for it. Nice find! Great food and service and a wonderful view. The staff was very helpful with menu suggestions. We both had the special which was sea bass and it was cooked perfectly. They had live music out on the patio the night we were there. I will definitely be back.

We've had Sunday breakfast, and just had a fun dining experience for dinner. The patio is pleasant for seeing the boats in the harbor and for enjoying the bar-b-qued tri-tip and chicken, or ribs. The live music was great, but just a tad too loud. Looking forward to trying other things on the menu.

When you spend $75+ for a romantic dinner for two, you expect delicious food and ambiance. The Waterside only provided one of the two. Our steak tacos were completely fatty...there was no meat worth eating in either of them. Our pork was supposed to have an Asian taste profile, but instead tasted like straight pepper. Also, it was quite fatty, as well. Our waitress was great, and the wines were good, but I wouldn't go back here...for food anyways.

Went here for dinner in the evening. It was great music and great view but the food was not good. The bread basket was stale. My husband's steak was poor quality-full of grizzle. My chicken breast was dry. Not worth the atmosphere or the good music.

For a grand experience, visit the neighboring Farmer's Market on Sunday morning 9am-1pm, and the enjoy music and a meal on the Waterside's bay view patio . The talented chef visit's the market early to pick the very freshest produce to incorporate into the daily menu which never disappoints. AND, as a special treat inquire about the Wine Maker Dinner's beginning in September. We recently enjoyed Herzog Winery's offering's accompanied by an amazing menu, all served in the Waterside's elegant private dining room.

We had a reservation for Father's Day Brunch and were super excited to eat here. They put us at a table right next to the band. Great music, but was simply too loud for us to converse, so we asked to be moved. Went to the bar, had a drink and waited. Asked the head guy three times if our table was ready. Waited. Asked several waitresses when our table was ready. Waited. Then we were told that there were clearing a table for us. Waited. We asked again and waited some more. Finally the waitress pointed to a table and said "there's your table". Unbelievable. We left. They never even tried to apologize to us for waiting almost an hour. At least they didn't charge us for our drink! The food looked good, but we never tasted it.

We had a family open house at our rental on Hollywood beach. It went longer than anticipated into dinner hour. I had reservations for five people at the Waterside so called and they were able to accommodate adding seven more at a single table. The staff were great. The menu was limited but tasty, prepared well, and enjoyed by all. The view of the harbor was great. We were not rushed, enjoyed the entertainment on the patio, and had a great time as a large group at the Waterside.

We visited this restaurant while on vacation in the area. Got a lovely table outside. Needed heaters and blankets but it was comfortable. Had a very nice waitress but she seemed overwhelmed and very busy. Waited a long time to get a drink order or order food and food was very slow. They seemed to be out of several items by our 7:00 dining time as well. When the food did come, it was mostly good. Seafood chowder very tasty. Trio of spreads were nice. Steaks were good. The fish special was overcooked but it had a nice flavor. Pork was good as was the burger. Not sure why everything seemed a bit out of sorts this night but it was. Live music was great and enjoyable. Not too loud for eating and talking.

First time here on a lovely (although windy) Sunday. The people were warm ... busy because of the event so food took a while but weren't in a hurry. All was well made and tasty. Portions a bit smaller. Loved the fruit salad. Great music added to the experience! Will return to try a different time of day.

Love going to this little neighborhood gem! The girls and I arrived for a bit of vino and some appetizers at the end of a hectic day. The cheese plate was delectable and the bon mi sandwich was overstuffed with rich pork goodness! The wine list is quite extensive with a tasting of wine flights available at request. Pair these with the incredible Marina views and you get a wonderful and relaxing evening with the girls!

Used a living social deal and it was our first time visiting this restaurant. Definitely a great choice for our "date night", romantic setting, beautiful location and we were lucky to have live music playing outside. It was a bit chilly so we opted for indoor seating. The service was amazing, especially since we asked for a different table than the one we had reserved. Unfortunately did not get to taste their signature duck dish as they had run out.

After the glowing report and description of menu options in the Star Newspaper, we were somewhat disappointed with the limited brunch menu. They explained that some of the menu items are changed every week, depending on produce available. What we ordered was good, but nothing exceptional or out of the ordinary. We will have to try it for lunch and hope that more variety is available.
