Diner Reviews
  • "In the area and looking for a good steak...............WOW we sure found it ! Chateaubriand amazing!"

  • "We celebrated my husband's birthday here recently. He went for the steaks, and was thrilled with his porterhouse. I loved the fish special, the wine choices, the amazing garlic bread and the decadent desserts. Our salads were fresh, fresh, fresh and delicious. Service was attentive but not overly intrusive. Beautiful romantic setting. We will be back!"

  • "First time at the restaurant, although we are locals. Food was great, atmosphere excellent, and the menu reminds one of a classic NY steak house. Exceptional (and reasonably priced) wine list and fantastic service."

  • "Very happy with my Valentines Day dinner here, the food was awesome!"

  • "We've been to this restaurant before for my birthday. It was wonderful and we decided that this was the place to celebrate Valentine's Day. We were disappointed that when we ordered our meal at 8 p.m. they were already out of Prime Rib; which is what we both ordered. We settled on Rib eye steaks and they were delicious. The desserts of stuffed french toast and the cream puffs with ice cream were a big miss. The coffee tasted burnt, but was not the worst of the evening. It would be two of the most obnoxious, attention seeking women we've even seen being handed the microphone from the D.J. Couples come out for a romantic evening, not amateur karaoke night!"

  • "Had a wonderful experience with a new date. Atmosphere and food was great with my only complaint being that we felt a bit rushed. Courses came out to quickly for this type of establishment. We would however try it again."

  • "Giovanni's in Stamford, CT, remains as it has been for more years than I can count -- a great place for a great steak. When planning a family get-together for a weekend lunch, Giovanni's was my first and only choice. The food was delicious, the service was perfect, and we got a visit from the long-time owner (Giovanni himself). I would absolutely recommend this restaurant to anyone, any time."

  • "Went to The Waters Edge at Giovanni's this past Sat night with a party of 6. Food and service were amazing. There is no other restaurant in Westchester or Fairfield that can touch their Prix Fixe offering."

  • "This was our first dining experience at Waters Edge at Giovanni's on New Year's Eve. The restaurant was quiet and the wait staff was helpful and attentive. The food quality was excellent (my wife and I had their prime rib). The only negative about this experience was being seated in a smaller table for two next to a somewhat large pant that encroached on the table somewhat. I would recommend the restaurant to others."

  • "I made reservations for dinner on Christmas Eve a week before for 8pm. It was one of the worst experiences I have ever had. We were there for 15 minutes and no one approached us. I went ahead to ask the coat check girl if there was a hostess and she told me to just look for someone holding a paper. I waited another 15 minutes and still no one approached us. I finally found someone else who worked there and said to give him 5 minutes and never once asked for a name. There wasn't a hostess checking in names so people were just being seated randomely which defeats the purpose of reservations. We waited a total of 45 minutes and still no one approached us so we left and went to another restaurant. I will never go back there again!"

  • "We dined at Giovanni's between church services on Christmas Eve. (I'm a church organist, and I was joined by our guest musician.) I can't believe I've never eaten here before! Everything was terrific - from the hosts, who were super friendly, to the waiter -Steven- who was attentive and knowledgeable, to the food (best filet Mignon I've had in a restaurant!). When my friend mentioned that he is a vegetarian, Steven suggested a dish that wasn't listed on the Christmas Eve menu, and my friend raved about this and his other courses. The price was reasonable for a major holiday. Two three-course dinners and sparkling water totaled about $100, plus tip. The dining room is full and bustling, but the noise wasn't bothersome. I'll be going back!"

  • "It's a tradition for my family to come every Christmas Eve to celebrate Christmas, our wedding anniversary & my son's birthday all in evening. It's always festive and the food is reliably good for the prefix meal. Over the years, the portions have gotten smaller, the quality has gotten more generic and the service, as busy as Christmas Eve is, was poor. This year, we were served by 4 different servers, not knowing who our main waiter was. Requests were not met. Though the food came sooner than we liked, meaning it was prepared way in advance, we were only attended to when the food came. We also waited for someone to come and take our check but nobody came until my husband called the bus boy. No, we certainly did not feel special!"

  • "We had dinner there for my husband's bday since he was looking for a good steak. we have lived in the area for over 20 years, but never eaten at Giovanni's. The quality of the food was superior and the quantities were enormous, 2 things that rarely go together in restaurants these days. we will be back for other family celebrations."

  • "My husband and I needed a "throw back" dining experience after finding all the loud dining around here to be totally annoying. We hadn't been to Giovanni's in 20 years! It was worth the wait;) Wilson, our waiter, was terrific!"

  • "It's supposed to be a steak house. My chateaubriand and it's accompanying mushroom sauce lacked flavor. It was pretty much precooked and arrived well done when I asked for medium rare. My dining companion ordered prime rib and it must have been put under the broiler for a few minutes. The surface was grayish and not pink like how prime rib medium should be. It arrived with an empty condiment cup on the plate without the jus. The only thing I enjoyed was the tiramisu. I might have been more satisfied dining at the local diner, and it certainly would have cost 70% less."

  • "I have been to Giovanni's many times for lunch and/or dinner. They have never failed to produce outstanding food, and excellent service. The ambiance is generally quiet and subdued, which allows for conversations without shouting. Even when there is a large event, in another area, as there was the night we were there, the dining room was quiet. And, Giovanni himself comes around to say "hello" to make sure everything is as it should be. Valet parking is very efficient. Highly recommended."
