I thought a restaurant named "The Water's Edge" would include a water view, but no. Well that's OK, not the end of the world. The best thing about the restaurant is Giovanni himself. A lovely fellow who wanted everything to be nice. And it was all perfectly nice. The food is ordinary though. The room was noisy, due to a large party next to us. It wasn't a hidden gem, unfortunately, which is what we were hoping.

It's a steak house, we know that and the steak I ordered was fine but, it appeared as if the lobster tail and the shrimp were from the frozen foods section of the local grocery store? The yam/sweet potato was under cooked the shrimp were shrimpy and the lobster tail was rubber. The presentation was mediocre and I was not disposed to even taste the green beans. The two young men who took care of our table were excellent and we tipped well ONLY because of them not the food. They brought us an extra cheesecake as the pear from the pear desert clearly was from a can. I am not sure when or if we ever paid more $155 with tip for less. Not worth half the price we paid.

Had two lobsters for $30 - incredible! They had some kind of special running: the lobster was delicious and included garlic bread and salad. My wife got the filet mignon, which was also excellent. Service was extremely friendly, the meal was well-paced, and the wine list is very impressive. We’ll definitely be going back!

We were meeting long lost friends and needed a conveniently located restaurant with good food and reasonable prices. This restaurant was a perfect match. The menu had a wide variety of choices and lots of pre fixe combinations that were great. We all enjoyed our dinners and the servers were great at handling several special requests for two of our party who had food allergies. We picked the perfect place for our reunion and we will most certainly be back.

Worst service ever. My wife and I sat at the bar for over 10 minutes ignored.while 3 waitresses were trying to figure out the cash register. We had reservations but they aren't needed because this place is EMPTY on weekends. I think the hostess is still out there looking for our table in a sea of open tables. These people are more concerned about the wedding hall then the restaraunt. We had to BEG for service!!! My wife said she had the worst lobster in her life- it Was cooked so much it was Hard. How would they know if they never asked us how the meal was? I hope Godzilla rises from the waterfront and takes Gianni's out of their misery well before the 40th anniversary in a few years. Don't waste your time or money at this dump.

We've been to this restaurant before for my birthday. It was wonderful and we decided that this was the place to celebrate Valentine's Day. We were disappointed that when we ordered our meal at 8 p.m. they were already out of Prime Rib; which is what we both ordered. We settled on Rib eye steaks and they were delicious. The desserts of stuffed french toast and the cream puffs with ice cream were a big miss. The coffee tasted burnt, but was not the worst of the evening. It would be two of the most obnoxious, attention seeking women we've even seen being handed the microphone from the D.J. Couples come out for a romantic evening, not amateur karaoke night!

Giovanni's in Stamford, CT, remains as it has been for more years than I can count -- a great place for a great steak. When planning a family get-together for a weekend lunch, Giovanni's was my first and only choice. The food was delicious, the service was perfect, and we got a visit from the long-time owner (Giovanni himself). I would absolutely recommend this restaurant to anyone, any time.

This was our first dining experience at Waters Edge at Giovanni's on New Year's Eve. The restaurant was quiet and the wait staff was helpful and attentive. The food quality was excellent (my wife and I had their prime rib). The only negative about this experience was being seated in a smaller table for two next to a somewhat large pant that encroached on the table somewhat. I would recommend the restaurant to others.

I made reservations for dinner on Christmas Eve a week before for 8pm. It was one of the worst experiences I have ever had. We were there for 15 minutes and no one approached us. I went ahead to ask the coat check girl if there was a hostess and she told me to just look for someone holding a paper. I waited another 15 minutes and still no one approached us. I finally found someone else who worked there and said to give him 5 minutes and never once asked for a name. There wasn't a hostess checking in names so people were just being seated randomely which defeats the purpose of reservations. We waited a total of 45 minutes and still no one approached us so we left and went to another restaurant. I will never go back there again!

We dined at Giovanni's between church services on Christmas Eve. (I'm a church organist, and I was joined by our guest musician.) I can't believe I've never eaten here before! Everything was terrific - from the hosts, who were super friendly, to the waiter -Steven- who was attentive and knowledgeable, to the food (best filet Mignon I've had in a restaurant!). When my friend mentioned that he is a vegetarian, Steven suggested a dish that wasn't listed on the Christmas Eve menu, and my friend raved about this and his other courses. The price was reasonable for a major holiday. Two three-course dinners and sparkling water totaled about $100, plus tip. The dining room is full and bustling, but the noise wasn't bothersome. I'll be going back!

    Dined on 12/24/2013
It's a tradition for my family to come every Christmas Eve to celebrate Christmas, our wedding anniversary & my son's birthday all in evening. It's always festive and the food is reliably good for the prefix meal. Over the years, the portions have gotten smaller, the quality has gotten more generic and the service, as busy as Christmas Eve is, was poor. This year, we were served by 4 different servers, not knowing who our main waiter was. Requests were not met. Though the food came sooner than we liked, meaning it was prepared way in advance, we were only attended to when the food came. We also waited for someone to come and take our check but nobody came until my husband called the bus boy. No, we certainly did not feel special!

It's supposed to be a steak house. My chateaubriand and it's accompanying mushroom sauce lacked flavor. It was pretty much precooked and arrived well done when I asked for medium rare. My dining companion ordered prime rib and it must have been put under the broiler for a few minutes. The surface was grayish and not pink like how prime rib medium should be. It arrived with an empty condiment cup on the plate without the jus. The only thing I enjoyed was the tiramisu. I might have been more satisfied dining at the local diner, and it certainly would have cost 70% less.

I have been to Giovanni's many times for lunch and/or dinner. They have never failed to produce outstanding food, and excellent service. The ambiance is generally quiet and subdued, which allows for conversations without shouting. Even when there is a large event, in another area, as there was the night we were there, the dining room was quiet. And, Giovanni himself comes around to say "hello" to make sure everything is as it should be. Valet parking is very efficient. Highly recommended.

Food is good, not the best steak or lobster we ever had, but for the price it was definitely good and worth it. The clam appetizer was really good!
