  • "Thank god that I had great company with me because I didn't realize that I waited over an hour after my reservation time to finally be seated. The maîtred was very apologetic and offered us drinks. The staff was very welcoming and sweet. The view was absolutely amazing. Even though we waited for over an hour, it was well worth it. I would go back."

  • "Shared the filet mignon and lobster with a friend. Lobster unshelled table side and was very good. Came with tempura green beans and Okeefe Potatoes. Filet was good with a nice bernaise sauce. Huge serving of the green beans and potatoes. Both were delicious, but would have almost preferred a scallop potato or even frites. Had the the maple glazed bacon for an appetizer. It was not what I was expecting. It was THICK with lots of fat; I was thinking more of a caramelized bacon and regular thickness. We sent it back and they were great; no questions. Had the corn chowder instead and it was nice. Bananas flambé for dessert (it comes with strawberries but we didn't ant them. Made table side. Ambience excellent. Roof top bar nice."

  • "I booked from the NYC restaurant week link on opentable, but was told they do not participate in restaurant week on weekend. It's OK. The food is just so-so. But the service is very slow and kind of rude."

  • "Driving pass by Water Club so many times for so long, always wanted to try this restaurant, definitely a place for nice dinner."
    Dined on 7/25/2014
  • "The Diver scallops were excellent as was the side dish of Broccoli Rabe which accompanies it. However the Corn chowder was watered down with under cooked potatoes and the barbecued Mahi mahi was very dry and tasteless."

  • "The view is good. The scallop dish was good and the rest of the choices for Restaurant Week were average. The service was slow and the place was pretty noisy."

  • "place is very nice, but a little dated by current NY standards. Access is impossible except by car or taxi"

  • "Very nice evening, good service and food in a lovely setting."

  • "I have never waited that long for my appetizer to come out! There were waits for everything. Wait to get seated even though we had reservations (~30 minutes), wait to order (~20 minutes), wait for water, wait for appetizer, and every course meal we ordered. It took them 1 hour 20 minutes for our appetizer to come out. The service was so disorganized even though it was a pretty setting. We must have had at least 5 different servers taking care of us. I am never coming here again. I was sooo disappointed- I had high hopes for this place especially for Restaurant Week and those expectations have been crushed."

  • "We had a reservation for 5 for 7:30. When I got there I told the hostess we were down to 3. He said it would take 10-15 to downsize our table. We waited At the bar. At 8:05 I went back to The hostess stand. I think he forgot about us and we were seated at a table for 5. Service was ok, I expected better for the prices. Dinner plates were picked up before I was done eating. Ugh!!!! I was eating the last of my roll when my dinner plate was picked up. Food was good. Water view was awesome. Service and prices were bummers."

  • "The Water Club was on my list of restaurants to patronize for a long time. Frankly it was a bit of a disappointment. Food is ok but not at all interesting or great. The whole place feels a bit touristy and even a bit run down. I'm glad I went during restaurant week. If I had been paying full price I would really be annoyed. Now I went and don't need to go again. I'd rather go any of the waterside places on City Island for better food and better prices."

  • "The Water Club has been on my "restaurants to visit" list for a while now and boy was it more than worth the wait!! I planned a surprise dinner for a friend, it was for a party of 5. The reservation was for 7:30p. When we were to be seated, we did not like the table that was offered. We were told that we would be accommodated within the next 30min. We were seated in 10min at a perfect table that we actually requested!! Appetizer/Entree/Dessert: EXCELLENT!! (Creamy Corn Chowder. Diver Scallop Piccata. Key Lime Pie) Ambiance: STUNNING! Service: Our waiter wasn't very social, but he did his job well and I guess that is what really matters. Everyone was very attentive and personable. If you have not dined here before, it is a MUST!!"

  • "Went to the Water Club for my birthday dinner during restaurant week. Everything was delicious from the biscuits to the scallops with cavatelli to strawberry shortcake. My only criticism was that I had to ask two different waiters for cheese, but other than that the service was excellent. Will definitely return soon!"

  • "The ambiance was fabulous as they have done a great job of rebuilding after Sandy. When it is dark the room is incredibly beautiful with lovely music from a pianist in the back round. You can see the lights on the 59th Street Bridge sparkling on the water along with the lights from the buildings across the river. The service was impeccable and we were seated and looked after with just enough attention and not too much to be disturbing. The food was fabulous especially the appetizers. We shared the zucchini flower, seafood salad and artichokes. The main course was the duck and we had sides of grilled asparagus and sauteed mushrooms. The portions were very generous and everything was delicious and cooked perfectly. We loved it!!!!"

  • "The Water Club was everything I imagined when planning out my significant other's birthday dinner. The evening was romantic with a beautiful view of the East river and calming piano music playing. The hostess and servers were very friendly and attentive. I secretly let my server know that it was my mister's birthday before she brought out the dessert and she assured me that it would say so on the dish. To my pleasant surprise a whole bunch of servers came to our table and sang happy birthday to him, it was lovely! Overall The Water Club is a great place to go to for special occasions and I would definitely recommend it for couples and families. I hope to come back and check out The Crow's nest soon for a group gathering!"

  • "My husband and I, I will admit, already had a special place in our hearts for The Water Club. We were married there 30 years ago today. So where could have been a better place to celebrate our 30th than the scene where it all began? Where indeed? From the moment we arrived, we were treated like royalty (or celebs). After seating us side by side at a table overlooking the water, the maitre d' sent over two flutes filled with Champagne. When the meal was over, we were also treated to dessert on the house -- a delicious sorbet served on a plate with "Happy Anniversary" scrawled in chocolate. The meal in between was, of course, beyond scrumptious, and the service truly impeccable. It took us 30 years to return, but we surely won't wait 30 more!"

Also, the restaurant and Crow's Nest upper deck bar area provide you with gorgeous scenery of the water and city!"

  • "This was our 1st time visiting. I new it was a bit fancy so checked the dress code which said "jacket preferred". We both got dressed up as it was a special birthday occasion. The staff were very friendly and we waited 10 mins at the bar to get a window seat in restaurant. The service was not too rushed and quality of food was amazing. One reason we chose it was the fantastic seafood and meat menu. My wife had a shrimp cerviche which was not as expected compared to Guatemala standards. My lobster cocktail was very generous and delicious. The fillet steak was excellent and cooked perfect. Overall the crowd was generally older and music from live piano player was nice. Would try the roof top bar next time to try a new experience. Very nice."

  • "The filet mignon was very soft and delicious. The lobster was very good. For the sides, it came with creamy mash potatoes and a lot of fried green beans. I was overwhelmed by the amount of green beans, but that's not a bad thing. Great for a date."

  • "This was our second time here as a group of five. The Crow's Nest rooftop bar is so lovely to sit at and enjoy the weather and the view. The service at the restaurant was excellent. The bread selection is delicious! Hard to stop eating. We ordered the tomato and mozzarella appetizer, which was only disappointing because it came plain and we didn't realize we had to ask for balsamic until we were almost finished eating it. I had the lamb chops, which were outstanding! Filet mignon was also enjoyed, as was the grilled asparagus and mashed potatoes. Too full for dessert! The view is worth the hefty prices. It's definitely a great place for a special occasion and go in good weather!"
