  • "Took a friend here to celebrate her birthday. The scenic view was beautiful but that's where the good feelings end.The waitress was inattentive, the kitchen got our order wrong on how we wanted our food cooked, her steak was over cooked and when we asked to have a new steak cooked for her they informed us that they had no more steaks. How does a restaurant runs out of steaks? For this to be a high-end restaurant their service does show it they ruined a special night"

  • "We are native New Yorkers and love The Water Club, especially for brunch! It's so nice to be in a large, airy space where you don't have to sit on your neighbors lap! Service is always wonderful! Glad The Water Club made it back after "Hurricane Sandy"."

  • "The food was great, although the selection of fresh fish is limited to 4 fish. The wine list was very small and very disappointing."

  • "My boyfriend and I have been looking for different places to dine with scenic views. This was definitely one of them. The food was well prepared tasteful. The staff was very attentive and knowledgeable. The ambiance was busy and romantic. Everyone must go."

  • "Got the surf and turf for two, filet mignon and lobster stuffed with crab meat. It was absolutely delicious. Restaurant was beautiful with a great view. Expensive meal but was worth it for a special occasion. Loved it here. Will definitely come back in the summer for the outdoor roof deck"

  • "Definitely a place to go if you want a scenic view, a quiet place, a romantic time, or a chic moment. The service is very attentive and excellent, they even speak several languages. The food is very good and not so expensive for the quality. I recommended it for a proposal and the bride was very happy of it too!"

  • "The food is always excellent, prepared and presented beautifully. Service is well above par, adding to the experience. We thoroughly enjoyed drinks by the fireplace before dinner as well. A welcome break on a cold night. All in all, just a great dining experience and something we look forward to. Water Club never disappoints."

  • "Wait staff was outstanding-cordial and friendly. Good food, but a couple of minor "misses" on the overdone side. Beautiful views of the river, ideal for a special occasion. We went for brunch on a Saturday, a great option for keeping the cost down. Most breakfast entrees were in the low teens, and some of the appetizers, like the breakfast pizza, were more than enough for an entire meal. Really outstanding desserts. Carrot cake my favorite, (yes, we tasted all of them), but very large piece of warm apple pie a la mode was a big hit as well."

  • "Since the reopening, appears not much has changed. Food great, service excellent, and atmosphere you can't beat. We have never had a bad meal at the Water Club, and return over and over without disappointment."

  • "Romantic setting. What else can I say. Brought my girlfriend here to celebrate her birthday. Beautiful sears right by the window with a wonderful view across the east river. Piano playing in he bar, fireplace roaring, great food, wonderful service, and a very relaxed atmosphere. I used to frequent here, but this was my first time back since Sandy. Glad to see its still the wonderful place I remember."

  • "Beautiful water/bridge view. The bar and dining areas are romantic, comfortable and beautifully decorated with the candle lighting, fireplace, and large glass windows."

  • "The sea food salad was excellent. A meal in itself. The steaks were also above the norm. It had been twenty years since I had dined there. I guess , in some cases, you can go home again."

  • "I found this place online and a friend told me much about it. I must say I am very happy i went! Took my girlfriend here for late valentines day dinner and it was phenomenal! The food was great (I had NY Strip Steak) very tender and juicy! My girlfriend had the Pan Seared Salmon and that was even great! The ambience was quiet and relaxing and the service was spot on! My waiter made sure we were both ok and served well! The view was awesome and we got a nice window seat to see it all. The price is high but you honestly get what you pay for! Definitely recommend!"

  • "I really assume that The Water Club would be a bit more fancy and romantic especially for Valentines Day. It was simple and I was not impressed at all. The food was blah and the desert were horrible. I have definitely been to much better places and paid less."

  • "The staff was very accommodating and attentive. The waitstaff was very knowledgeable and were well equipped to make special requests."

  • "The service here was beyond horrible. Even though we had reservations we were not sat until an hour and fifteen minutes later. No apologies, nothing from the staff. Appetizers were decent so we assumed the entree would be as well. Boy were we wrong! The 'Juicy Filet Mignon' was horrendous. My fiance ordered medium rare, expecting it to be pink inside. This piece of meat was so well done and dry that it wasn't fit for a dog. The view is lovely but the service and food are terrible, definitely not worth $85/per person for dinner."

  • "The Water Club is a real "gem" in the heart of New York City. Not only do you feel as though you are completely isolated from the "rush" of the city as you sit on this spectacular barge overlooking the skyline of Queens & Brooklyn with views of the 59th street bridgee The Bar for drinks before dinner inside the restaurant has an unbelievably deep fireplace where you can sit in front of the fire and just luxuriate in the beauty of the place. The ambiance is fabulous. The food is just superb! The fish was as though it was just pulled out of the water it was so fresh. The filet Mignon was like butter and the side dishes were all delicious beyond words. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. One of the best restaurants in the city!"

  • "The quality, presentation and quantity of the food was outstanding. Service and wait time for food was also excellent. After our toast we wished my wife a happy birthday. Our waiter apparently noted this and surprised her with a lovely piece cake of and lighted candle while singing happy birthday. This was a nice touch and most appreciated."

  • "I love the Water Club. It's old-fashioned in the best way. It's a Restaurant, with a bar and a piano player and a view. White table cloths and an assortment of breads and rolls - and soft butter. I generally like the lobster bisque and the crab cakes. Last visit I had mini Beef Wellington, which was disappointing, and small sections of fried artichoke, which were delicious. A little disappointed with the service, which had us craning our necks more than once, and having our conversation interrupted more than once. Bring the food up that last notch and review the training of the wait staff."

  • "Very nice diner with friends. Good menu, nice place, a bit noisy but the quality of the meals compensates. Oysters and scallop plate were outstanding. We also enjoyed the pianist playing nice music at the bar. The Creme Brulee was also very good."

  • "The bananas foster French toast was out of this world. Went with 3 friends, and we loved the bread basket with warm zucchini bread and carrot cake muffins. Our waiter was personable and even brought out the head chef to meet us. I definitely recommend for brunch!"

  • "So happy the Water Club is back in business after Sandy devastation. Warm festive dining room, brightly lit for the season with professional service and delicious food. Piano piped into the dining room made for an excellent ambience."

  • "We recently dined there for the first time to celebrate our daughter's acceptance into medical school. The food was exquisite and the service we got from waiters was unmatched. They were very attentive to our needs (and requests for extra bread!) and helped us pull off a surprise candle for dessert. We left with full stomachs and smiles."

  • "The Water Club is both sophisticated and homey. The waitstaff is very attentive and the bar tenders know how to mix drinks. The food is very good with just enough options on the menu. It;s the perfect place for a festive occasion or dinner after work with friends. Glad it's back."

  • "The location is still wonderful. Because it is just getting its house in order, I hope it will get better. The menu was disappointing. They seem to be trying to become a steak house. All the entrees are meat only requiring you to order a side. The staff was decent, but not as attentive as they were. I had to wave to get drink refills and additional rolls. The order for one entrée was wrong and it took about 15 minutes for the replacement. That required me to eat my meal while my friend had to wait. There was no apology or attempt to make up for the error. The bill had two items on it that we did not order or have."

  • "Glad it is back after horrible Storm Sandy. It needs a little reviving, maybe some advertising would help. Othwerwise it will be a slower "word of mouth" resurgence. It is a civlised experience to enjoy the quiet, the food, the view and the service."
    Dined on 11/30/2013
  • "We have been several times. This was the first time with four others. Service was very good however, everything was very rushed even though it was not crowded. Perhaps understaffed? There wasn't any acknowledgement of the three celebrations at all."
