Diner Reviews
  • "My husband and I have wanted to go here for years, so maybe our expectations were too high. The menu was limited. The food was just okay. The shrimp and scallops were cooked perfectly, but the risotto left much to be desired. The dining room was lovely and the waitress was friendly. Wasn't worth the money we paid."

  • "We have eaten at the Washington House many times and the experience is always wonderful. Maybe that is why we were disappointed on how incredibly slow out service was during our Sunday brunch. It was almost 15 minutes from when we were seated before a the waitress even stopped by. And the meal progressed even slower. But as always the food was very good even though they were out of two of their deserts."

  • "The Washington House should get an award for being the most consistent delicious food for years and years. We've been going to the Washington House often before seeing a show next door at the Sellersville Theatre for many years. We have always been pleased with the service, never hurried or rushed, and always attentive. All of the food is deliciously fresh and prepared with creativity and innovative ways. They change the menu frequently enough so that we never tire of any one dish. Four of us dined on this occasion before seeing a show next door, and were all pleased with our meals, and appetizers. We didn't have time for dessert, but they are always outstanding. The rolls are the best you will ever consume! Everything is portioned well."

  • "What's a show at Sellersville Theater without dinner at Washington House? Beautiful day, relaxing breezes as we walked in a few minutes before the appointed time. We were seated immediately in the "front" dining room, and had ample time to select our dinner with Haley's good advice. I truly savored the chicken and lemon dill pasta dish, while my colleague relished the trout. Soon we realized we were not even speaking; merely enjoying our meals. The portions were just right, the bread was still warm from the oven, and the staff unobtrusive yet attending refills as needed. Diners were few; we lingered a bit after dinner before our show. Awesome dining experience! Bon appetit ! We'll be back..."

  • "I was looking for a spot midway between where we live in Elkins Park and Bethlehem Pennsylvania. I wasn't expecting to find much but discovered the Washington and through OpenTable. It was a fabulous surprise. The ambience and decor is lovely. The service was exceptional and the food superb. It was the perfect place for our family get together."

  • "It was our first time there. The food was good and the service was excellent, especially because we were delayed on arrival because of road detours. We let them know we were seeing a show next door at the Sellerville Theater and they expedited our service and got us to the show on time!"

  • "A great spot to dine in its own right. The menu allowed for a range of tastes and appetites. The food was well prepared, attractively presented and reasonably priced. The service was prompt and friendly while the setting made for an eye-appealing trip back in time. I had no problem finding a convenient parking spot. It's old-timey bar close the entrance had the makings of a great watering hole. Add a show at the Sellersville Theater and we're talking about an unbeatable combo. Yes, Arnold, "I'll be back!""

  • "The food was excellent, and our request for a private table was met. They dealt well with our last minute time adjustment. The Server was not very attentive but she was sweet. And offered a complimentary Birthday dessert. Overall, and enjoyable evening."

  • "We have been to the Washington House before, usually before a show at the Sellersville Theater. This time we went for a birthday brunch. The prix fixe brunch menu has excellent choices including daily specials. A lunch menu is also available with burgers, sandwiches and entrees. So, there was something for everyone, and we all enjoyed it."

  • "The food was great, all 4 in our group enjoyed our meals. Only issue was the service was a little slow. The place has been at full capacity every time I have been here. That speaks for itself."

  • "I called ahead to make the Washington House aware that we were going to be late for our 6:30 reservation by about 10 minutes. It actually took us 15 minutes. When we arrived, the hostess greeted us warmly and we were shown to our table quickly. Because we did not want to be late for an 8:00 show at The Sellersville Theater, our waitress took our drink orders immediately. I had reviewed the spring dinner menu online so I had some idea of what I'd order for dinner. Dinner was delicious, the wine menu was very inviting for another time, when we might have more time to linger. We didn't have time for my date's free dessert (it was his birthday) so we returned after the show for a Bailey's and were given the free dessert! A fabulous treat!"

  • "Happened to book on a wine flight Friday. Great idea, well presented, reasonably priced. The wife and I have eaten at this fine restaurant a number of times, as a twosome and in larger groups. The food is always superior, the wait staff friendly and prompt. If you're a folkie headed up the street to the theater, I'd advise you to take the extra time to eat, either before or after at the Washington House."

  • "We were looking for a place to enjoy a nice meal while staying at a bed and breakfast not too far from Quakertown. Our search led us to The Washington House. The history was fascinating, and the owners have done a magnificent job creating a delightful dining experience. Our salads whet our appetites in a memorable way. Dinner was superb, and our desserts were just what we had hoped for and then some! Would we come back? In a heartbeat! Who knew such a fine restaurant was right near in the center of Sellersville? Even with a detour along to route to finding the restaurant, find it. You won't be sorry."

  • "I received 3 FREE tickets for Ryhthm in Blue (thanks Air Force & Sellersvill Theatre) & a coupon for Washington House Restaurant. I have wanted to try their food but had only previously had drinks there. The dining experience was FANTASTIC: great selection of entrees; abundant selection of moderately priced entrees for persons on a budget (me); plentyful portion sizes; my favorite beer on tap; friendly & professional waitress (we challenged her & she was great); free dessert for my Birthday; & the food was to die for. A++++."

  • "We booked our reservation for 8p.m., after theatergoers might be gone. Our meal was very good. The entrees took a little longer than expected but they were worth the wait."

It was a great experiance that we will be taking part in again, plus with the sellersville theatre and they're selection of good shows next door it sets up for a perfect date night or just a casual experiance with friends this estaishment definetly know how to treat theyre guests and they know how to treat their food."

  • "The food was excellent. We enjoyed the experience at Washington House. The Catfish I had was outstanding. I hadn't had catfish in years. The server was very gracious, and not overbearing. The prices were a little high, but I know all food is up in price."

  • "Sellersville is not repleat with fine dining, but the Washington House is an exception. It has interesting and well prepared food, a pleasant home spun atmosphere, friendly and quick service along with a nice bar. Of course, the best part is that it's less than a block from the Sellersville Theatre. It is just the place for a good meal and some drinks before a show. I never fail to eat here when I'm making the trip to the Sellersville Theatre."

  • "on a whim, we were looking for something to do. we found the sellersville theater had los lobos, but was sold out. while exploring their site i found the washington house. booked a reservation. delightful. the app was a mix of mussels, clams, crawfish and sausage in a spicy broth. the trout and salmon were delicious. dessert was creme brule. my partner enjoyed the ambiance and the food. short drive from churchville... would go again and combine with a show. anyone have todd rundgren tickets available?"

The food is ALWAYS good. it's very important to make reservations . on a occasion we'll call in to see if we can be seated within a half hour and have gotten lucky."

  • "Food is truly lackluster and prices are surprisingly high. Seated in a dimly lit Victorian style dining room. Very quiet -- to the point where you can hear every word from guests at other tables. The food is as dreary as can be. Crabcakes @ $24 were bland, soggy; goat cheese/corn souffle at $18 was tasteless and was really more of a pudding; blue cheese dressing on wedge salad at $6 tasted mostly like mayo; Six Cajun spiced clams on a salad plate at $9 were surprisingly bland -- you see what I mean? If we eat here next time we go to a show, we would probably just sit in the bar and have a burger if we're short on time."

  • "Getting right to it: the server, Athena, was a delight. Food OVERPRICED. Caesar salad was ordinary. Three (out of four) of us had the prime rib. Now, it was VERY tender and nice and cooked exactly how we ordered it (3 different temperatures), and granted: flavor comes from fat. But over 1/3 (for two of the servings) to almost 1/2 (for mine) of the slices were fat. And it was not compensated with a thicker cut. The 4th in our party had the chicken and was thrilled, but it too was pricey. The place was LOUD but it was a crowded Friday night. I could see it being a cozy romantic place on non-weekend nights, though. I'd go again - with a coupon, but for the price, for the overall quality of food I deem it terribly overpriced."

  • "We have been to your restaurant before for dinner and have enjoyed it very much esp for special celebrations. Brunch was a special treat for our parents this time and we all enjoyed it. Please change your menu on-line as I was disappointed to find that two of my choices (entree and dessert) that I had picked out on line were no longer offered in the restaurant."

  • "Lovely, warm welcome. Hostess changed our table at a moments notice when we had someone join us at the last minute. Waitress was great, food was fabulous....duck cooked beautifully, wine suggestion perfect and large hot cup of delicious coffee welcome. Bartenders were great....letting me know they'll be with me in a minute when they had a large drink order.....cannot wait to return!"
