  • "Went on a weeknight and was surprised at how busy the restaurant was. We arrived early and were told that we would be seated on time. We ended up being seated about 30 minutes late but the manager was great about keeping us posted. He made up for it by sending us some wine and appetizers. His generosity and the very good food was overshadowed by service that was either overwhelmed or weak. The front of house seemed to be out of step with the rest of the experience. Next time, I'll go earlier and make sure that I have time for a very long dinner."

  • "Your lunch is very good but it would be nice once in a while the menu would change and have more to choose from. I ate three time for lunch and had pork twice and beef once. I like the pork more than beef. The other things on the menu doesn't interest my taste. Your chicken salad which my guest had was nice too. But all in all this so a very nice place with great service."

Summer diners should definitely take advantage of the sweet corn soup and lobster salad as they are truly outstanding. All of the servers are highly professional, but Melodie deserves special recognition for her graciousness and knowledge of the menu and wine list."

  • "Village Pub earns their Michelin star with their dinner, not brunch. We had: - coffee - 2 out of 5 - cinnamon rolls - 5 out of 5 - eggs Benedict - 1 out of 5 until sent back to be cooked. Was nearly completely raw!! - French Omlett - 4 out of 5 - burger - 5 out of 5 (the guys loved this!!) In all I adore the Village Pub but will not return for brunch when I know the dinner is a 5 star experience."

  • "After a disappointing visit (6/8), I let the restaurant know, and the manager gave me a substantial credit to come back and let them make good. We did, and it was much better. I still feel like their land fare is better than their sea fare. The special burrata appetizer was pretty substantial and yummy. The Mint/Devil's food cake dessert was terrific, and was presented with a milk chocolate layer across the top of the bowl, then hot liquid poured around the rim so it drops in. What a show! I think the most memorable things here are the drinks and desserts. The rest is good, but not necessarily that much better than less expensive places."

  • "Each year, when I select a restaurant for my birthday, I choose the Village Pub for our family gathering. Cocktails are always great. My salmon was perfectly steamed and others enjoyed the delicious pork chop. The ambiance is lovely and the service was terrific!"

All of the courses (lobster on tapioca appetizer, I had the duck on arugula main course, peach crisp with ice cream for dessert) were prepared perfectly and very interesting.   • "Went for Mom's 80th birthday with our family and her best friends. Unfortunately, it must have been an off night. I thought my duck entree and the souffle dessert were fine enough, but four people ordered the yellowtail/squid and it was fishy and unsatisfying. Mom's note today: "(I) felt bad that it wasn't as good as my past two lunch experiences there when everyone raved about the food. A friend of mine said she went there for a Stanford event a couple of weeks ago and the food wasn't as good either. So we were wondering if the chef has changed. Or maybe we were there on a Sunday and the main chef may have been off." Service was excellent. The bill was an extravagance for us, so that's disappointing."

  • "Amazing food with equally amazing service. We had a table for four on 5/25. It took a little while to get seated even with our reservation. However, once we were seated I was very impressed with how fast our food came out. We ordered a couple of salads for our table as well as soups. I have to say that those salads are probably the best I've ever had anywhere. My compliments to the chefs. Both, the harvest and butter lettuce, salads were dressed and seasoned perfectly, I wanted more. For the soups, both the corn and the mushroom consome were amazing. The halibut and the pasta entrees were superb. And the desserts were out of this world! The chefs and servers work together so perfectly and it makes for a great dining experience."

  • "The Village Pub is a hidden gem. Tucked in the hills of Woodside, its quaint and inviting ambiance with red velvet chairs and fireplaces sets the stage for a memorable meal. The food more than lives up to these expectations. The entire brunch menu is scrumptious from the assortment of breakfast bread to the shrimp and grits to the lemon pancakes and dessert. Everything was amazing, but the pastries and passionfruit curd were the most memorable dishes on the table. My family and I couldn't stop talking about how delicious every dish was. Not only that, but the wine list is one of the most impressive I have ever come across. A fantastic dining experience in every aspect! "

We waited for 10 minutes for a server to come to our table, she gave us a drink menu and didn't return for another several minutes. After we ordered she didn't return. The hostess finally brought our drinks, one of which was a very short pour compared to the other same drink. The food and great dining room waiter made up for the poor bar service."

I was very impressed with the attention the staff paid to the "birthday girl". We have celebrated @ many places, but never with this amount of focus. Discreet & lovely( the staff WILL NOT circle your table & sing @ the top of the lungs). I won't say what they DO do and spoil the surprise."

The Village Pub is always noisy, especially on weekend evenings. and then last Friday the restaurant decided to add piped music, which truly made conversation impossible. Our request to have the music turned off or down was ignored, so our guests asked that we cut our evening short, which we did. Not the ending we envisioned for a celebration dinner. Too bad!"
