The Village PubBurger/friesOne of the best in the area.......the fries/aioli dipping sauce are
perfect!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMDeliciousThe food was outstanding! We arrived at 5:30 and it was quiet and easy to converse. When we left at 6:30ish, it was getting hard to hear the conversation. It is obviously a very popular spot.
The servers were very good at their jobs and obviously liked what they did. But the food was outstanding. Thanks for a great evening. It is very pricey, so we won't be going often....just for special occasions.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was wonderful except....I did not appreciate being pressured to order and drink grappa by the waiter. The dinner is already quite expensive, and it seemed like he was just trying to increase his tip.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMif only....if only I could eat here everyday...I would be a VERY happy diner!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent as usualService was outstanding. Food was exactly as expected - fresh, cooked perfectly, and delivered at the appropriate time. Everything was done properly, and the attentive, but not overbearing, service was top-notch. Well done - again!5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMVillage Pub -european experienceI took my daughter for a lovely euro style lunch at VP (she had never been there and I had not been there for a long time). It was a very warm day and we ate outside on the porch-protected from the sun...the food was great, the service was great and it was a taste of our luncheons in Paris and Florence...They sat me early and were gracious about me waiting for my daughter. The hostess was fun to speak to and the waiter was attentive. We will definitely come back...4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMVery classy PubWonderful meal here with my wife. Great food, great service. Really enjoyed the chicken, scallops, and abalone salad. Will definitely come back - maybe even for dinner at the bar.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful restaurant. TheWonderful restaurant. The restaurant is a bit hard to find because you enter from the back. I suspect that people that go
there have been there many times. The ambiance was fantastic. Large enough to accommodate large parties and the
noise would be diffused. The service is exceptional. The food was very good, not exceptional like the service. My scallops
were fantastic but the salad had too much dressing but besides that it was a wonderful experience. It is a must to go to.
A true find. Very, very classy restaurant.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMSunburst fish with veal stuffedSunburst fish with veal stuffed pasta was delicious. Donna did a great job wine pairing4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went for a special birthdayWe went for a special birthday (lunch time) and were seated in a booth. We appreciated that. Service was beyond 5 stars.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMHigh class "pub". AttentiveHigh class "pub". Attentive wait staff with white linen table clothes. Lunch with my mother was a special treat among business works and other special occasion celebrants. The menu beyond the pub burger is complex and refined. Shiso sorbet with the citrus dessert was what tempted my mother's return when she did not order dessert on a previous occasion. She was not disappointed!4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had not been to VillageWe had not been to Village Pub in a while and wow. I forgot how good the dining experience is. There were 3 of us and it seemed like we were lucky to sneak in at the last minute for a 7:30pm reservation. I had the halibut and it was tender with a nice white sauce. The scallops ae presented in a pot pie of sorts - delicious. My husband had the short rib. The waitress said it was not "fall off the bone", but I thought it was super tender. My husband expected the broth to be richer, but thought it was good overall.
As always the wine list is impressive and the recommendations for what to drink with our food were spot on. We just gave some input on us taste and the waitress took care of it without help from the sommelier. Excellent vib4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMI am a regular so I can onlyI am a regular so I can only say good things. Service is always exceptional and food does not need explanation.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMMy first time at Village Pub.My first time at Village Pub. Everything was outstanding. The duck, prepared for the 3 of us, was succulent, moist, and beautifully presented with a light sauce and root vegetables. A must if you go there....but bring your big wallet. The chocolate souffle, again shared by 3, was luscious and nice and warm. The meal was worth the price.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMAs usual, excellent overall. As usual, excellent overall. I had the Wagyu Brisket and it was a bit too fatty for me, but very tasty. My father-in-law loved it. My mother-in-law LOVED her Halibut. My husband was just so-so on the Cassoulet. My kids loved their pasta and french fries (these are some of the best fries!). Of course dessert knocked it out of the park with the Strawberry Rubarb Crumble, Praline Mille-feuille, Lime Cheesecake and shortbread cookies. Love that it's an establishment that serves great food and is also kid-friendly. Not too many of those around. Still one of our favorites in the Peninsula!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMnot as good as expectedBeen trying to go for ages, but hard to get a reservation. Love the location and setting and service, but was disappointed by the food. We started with the caviar, which was (but expensive). For main course I had the tuna special, which was tasty, but nothing unusual. My son had the steak and it was not great: too tough and too fatty. Desert was the chocolate soufle which was not nearly as yummy as I expect one to be. I ate a bunch of bread which was terrific, but not why I went to The Village Pub. Have to assume it was an off night, but not sure I'll be back to try again. Maybe lunch would be better.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely BrunchWe all had Eggs Benedict - delicious. They slow cook the eggs for 60 minutes but they are still very runny. Ask for their bread to sop up the yolk - it was great!4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was good, but nothingFood was good, but nothing outstanding. Was expecting a little bit more from a Michelin starred restaurant. Example- the chicory salad was quite boring and something I could have made myself. I have had better meals in SF from non-michelin rated restaurants.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMI love the Village Pub. It'sI love the Village Pub. It's a small and elegan restaurant where I can be comfortable dressed up or in jeans. The satff is always very kind, attentative and on the spot. One of my favorite lunch get aways.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMExceptionalWe have heard many, many a rave review of the Village Pub over the years but had never managed to get a reservation until this week. It exceeded it's reputation. We were thrilled with the food, the drinks, the service and comfort. The service was spectacular. If we can ever get a reservation again we would love to have dinner again. It was a delightful evening.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMWe drive up from SaratogaWe drive up from Saratoga just to go to the Village Pub, most often for lunch,
as this is becoming, or may be, our favorite restaurant. Great chef. Great staff.
Wine at reasonable pricing.
The food was so good, wee even decided to order take out for dinner at home.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMMy second trip. ImmaculatelyMy second trip. Immaculately prepared food, excellent, helpful but non-obtrusive service.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat menu/food and HUGE wineGreat menu/food and HUGE wine list. Friendly staff. Rather busy place, can be loud. Good choice for special occasions or needing an up-market bar experience. Sophisticated but not stuffy. And a nice getaway location from the usual Bay Area urban locations...4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was my first visit atThis was my first visit at the Village Pub - food, service and ambiance were outstanding.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyed a fantastic EasterEnjoyed a fantastic Easter brunch with the family. Thoroughly delighted by their smoked sturgeon with lemon crème fraîche...superb, as well as their lemon soufflé pancakes that were so light fluffy...amazing simplicity done so well. Service for the kids in unison made for a nice experience...bravo!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMWithout fail, The VillageWithout fail, The Village Pub is an extraordinary experience! We LOVE this place. The exceptional food is punctuated by terrific service. We have been for every type of event from Easter to Father's Day to a regular ole midweek dinner and it is always interesting and delicious. I only wish we could eat there every night!
Thank you Village Pub! We can't wait to come back soon!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for brunchI took my parents here for Sunday brunch and it was great. The food was outstanding, the atmosphere was relaxing, and noise level was conducive to conversation. Even with the place being packed the noise level was moderate. The staff was overall very good, but it seemed like some of them could use a little more experience. One thing to note, parking can be a bit of a challenge.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways amazing. Our go toAlways amazing. Our go to restaurant for special dinners.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMA phenomenal dining experience.A phenomenal dining experience. Service, food, ambiance, The Village Pub is a gem.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMI like the Village Pub veryI like the Village Pub very much but it gets unbelievably noisy as it fills up. It even gets hard to hear the other person at a two person table.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMUnforgettableWhen it comes to experiencing an unforgettable dining experience, this is the restaurant! The entire staff is friendly and professional and looks as if they truly enjoy working there, willing to do anything to make it a special visit. Our server was Melody Mitchell who provided a well paced and comfortable flow, being attentive without stopping by every couple of minutes to see how things were. It's flawless. Along with the fantastic staff the restaurant exudes atmosphere, formal but not pretentious, good vibes are all around the room with the diners laughing and truly enjoying their evening out. This restaurant could lift up anyone who had a bad or stressful day. It's like walking into a new, warm world.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for all occasionsGreat food, great drinks, great service, and apart from the usual *wince* wine list pricing, basically perfect. I had the garlic and rock shrimp soup (amazing) and scallops in puff pastry (even better) paired with a great white wine. The price on the food was very reasonable for a 'straunt of this quality with the level of knowledge/service. The wine list was not stupidly expensive, just a notch above the high side for markup. I split an apple crumble for dessert - it was as large as the waiter warned us.
One of the net things about this place was that there were families with (well behaved) kids, high school students eating before the prom (flashback!), business guys, older couples, etc.
We really had a lovely time.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMA Wonderful Place to DineThe Village Pub is a wonderful place to dine. I'm particularly fond of its brunch - especially the Eggs Benedict. The basket of breakfast breads is always good, and it's served with fresh butter, lemon curd and jam. I recently ordered the crab cake, made with fresh Dungeness crab and herbs, served with a poached egg and roasted cauliflower bits which was a creative - and delicious - alternative to cottage potatoes.
The service is friendly and attentive - there's a genuine willingness to please. The dining room is elegant but not stuffy, and you'll find many a Silicon Valley diner dressed in jeans. It's focus on creating delicious food and a relaxed dining experience always make it a go-to restaurant for me.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMfood was excellent, servicefood was excellent, service great & wine list was outstanding. Overall a very enjoyable experience eventhough it was a business dinner.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThe scallops are amazing andThe scallops are amazing and the chocolate soufle and tart are off the charts.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMA Superb Dining ExperienceIf you had 6 stars for Service, we'd mark that! The waitstaff is outstanding and our regular Waiter, Roy, is an absolute gem. He anticipates our every wish. All in all, an outstanding dining experience.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat atmosphere and the foodGreat atmosphere and the food is wonderful. The real standout was the White Truffle Pasta. Only available at certain times of he year. The only $75 pasta appetizer that is worth every penny! The service could have been a little more attentive.12/29/2012 12:00:00 AMYet another wonderful experience.Yet another wonderful experience. Great (though somewhat limited in number) food choices, super attentive service, nice ambiance. Would have welcomed slightly faster service, though with every table at the restaurant being full we understood the delay between courses. Will definitely be back - this is one restaurant to keep on the special places to eat at list :-)12/14/2012 12:00:00 AM
