  • "I came here for my birthday with my wife very excited to try the food here. Needless to say, the food and the bar did not disappoint. The pork chop, arctic char and our rhubarb crisp were amazing. I would also go back just for the bread. However, our server was far from attentive. He seemed to be engaging the other tables a lot more than us. It took nearly 20 minutes for him to take our food order even though we were ready long before. There were also long stretches during the meal where he did not check in on us. Fortunately, another server figured it out and started taking care of us (kudos to that guy for saving the night). I would go back again for the food and hope the service improves a bit."

Every "fine diner" need is filled with panache and many times covered without asking. Only other comparable experience at Taillavent Paris. When you have two types of Billecart Salmon offered by the glass then you know your in for an exceptional dining experience. You'll be hard pressed to find a better restaurant west of New York."

The octopus was roasted, and was so overcooked, I could barely cut it with a table knife, let alone the seafood knife they gave me with the course.   • "This is a complete surprise for me since this is the first time I dined here for dinner. The bar was crowded and happening. The check-in was a little clunky as the hostesses were busy on the phone and worrying about seating, but when a sommelier came over to pick up the wine bottle I was holding asked if I was already helped, it more than made up for it. Nothing was spared when it came to the food - well prepared and presented. Delectable to the taste buds, a sensory experience for the nose, and a delight to the eyes. Coupled with the attentiveness of the staff, it made my Friday dining experience very pleasurable."

  • "I've been going to the Village Pub for special occasions for more than 10 years and it never fails to please. Food, wine, service - all top notch without being overbearing or pretentious. Our waiter was knowledgeable about the wines, with spot-on descriptions and recommendations as well as for martinis (gin). The best surprise was the Rye Blondie for dessert. The noise level on a Saturday night at 7pm gets to be too loud to hear your fellow diners at a 4-seat table without leaning in over the tabletop. The VP already has above-average spacing between tables and soft furnishings (including comfortable chairs), so not clear what the restaurant can do about the noise, but it's not so bad to keep me from going back."

  • "Food: Mushroom consommé-too salty Duck liver mousse-too salty Lemon tagliatelle pasta with truffles-could've saved $35 as the dish would have been just as excellent without the truffles. They must not be in season since it was pretty much tasteless and I'm not a huge fan of the texture, so I could have done without. Steak-perfect! Terrarium dessert-hubby loved it Praline Mille-Feuille-my absolute favorite! I get it every time. Service-good, but 1. Ordered 1 mushroom consommé meaning to share since we also had duck liver mousse. Waiter came back to see if hubby los wanted it. Thought he was asking if we were going to share, instead got charged for 2. 2. Got charged for 2 bottles of sparkling water without being asked if we wanted the 2nd."

  • "Many years ago when we were young and stupid, we strolled into this restaurant and--because we had no reservations and more importantly because we were wearing jeans--we were turned away. It's a lot less snooty these days, but this is still an elegant, beautiful restaurant. This time (our first time here), we were dressed appropriately (although I'm not sure it would have made a difference if we hadn't been--although all other diners were in "casual business" attire). The food was truly wonderful, the service was attentive without hovering. Even though there were people chatting at the bar and other diners starting to arrive (we were there super early--at 5 p.m.), we could actually have a conversation without shouting. Lovely ambiance."

  • "The pricey abalone appetizer was tasty, but not particularly special. The mushrooms were excellent, but the fish could have been anything (just a little tougher than most fish). The crab appetizer was a better bet. The lightly seared bluefin tuna special was delicious -- if you like sushi (which I do). The pasta was rated good, and the skate was beautifully prepared. Basically, an excellent meal."

We had an excellent time. The most moist pork chop I've ever had. The garlic soup was great. The poached lobster was tasty though not mind-blowing.   • "Its true the Burger here is worthy of worship! So I had to ask more about their delicious, famous burger. Apparently its just a grass fed beef patty flavored with salt and pepper cooked over an almond wood fire grill. If only things were that simple and accessible. I came by for lunch and was quickly seated in a nice comfortable booth. Overall it was a good lunch with a nice laid back atmosphere. You will find everything you expect from a Michelin star restaurant here: friendly service, delicious food, well maintained restaurant. Great lunch service and will definitely be back to try there dinner menu soon."
