Diner Reviews
  • "My family and I visited for one day. The food was superb! The view was amazing! Our server (I think his name was Anub or something close to that) was so nice and accommodating. I would definitely recommend!"

  • "For my husbands first trip to New York I wanted to take him somewhere special. The View was that special place. The food was stunning. Along with the amazing view, our evening was superb. I would definitely recommend The View to any couples or indeed anyone who appreciates wonderful food. Absolutely superb."

  • "The brunch was booked as a birthday treat during a trip to New York. Everything about the visit was super. The layout provided enough space between tables for private discussion, the food areas were attentively monitored to ensure that presentation was good and service levels were high yet discrete. At the end of the meal our waiter brought me a birthday cake which was an delightful surprise! The views of the city were lovely as we slowly revolved. Although an expensive brunch I would definitely return on future trips as the quality was evident and I would be happy to recommend to others as a special treat."

  • "och jättebra service. Det borde dock framgått tydligare att man var tvungen att äta deras "fixed menu" 3 rätters. Att man inte har någon klädkod är jättetrist när man kommer uppklädd och andra kommer i shorts och t-shirt"

  • "Food was delicious and the best food so far during this trip in NYC. Service was great and accommodating."

  • "I went there with my sister, brother-in-law and their kids for my sister's birthday and it is a remarkable place in terms of view and scenery. As for food it is maybe not in line with the fixed price and the wine list is not the most exhaustive one. Service is very good and flexible if you have special requests. But a very fine place indeed"

  • "Made a reservation to celebrate my daughter's 21st birthday 5 month's ago. Rec'd email reminder day before. When we arrived, we were greeted acknowledging her birthday & seated by the window to enjoy the view. Our servers were very prompt in taking our drink & food order. The choices for the appetizer, entree & dessert would suit anyone. Each course was delivered in a very timely manner -- presentation was very nice and all was delicious!! We would definitely return to try other dishes. One of our server's, Brian, went above and beyond to ensure my daughter's birthday would be a memorable one -- the unexpected dessert in addition to the other's that came with our meal - and singing Happy Birthday - A BIG THANK YOU!!"

  • "Fantastic for a special occasion - the lift ride up to the restaurant is an experience in itself. Although view restricted by tall buildings, you still get a great view and an unforgettable experience. The food is fantastic, presentation and choice impeccable. We booked a table the night before for the Mimosa Brunch on Sunday morning and was a great way to end our last day in New York."

  • "We ordered beef as main course. Mine was overcooked, should have been medium, was a little dry. Parsnips and potato undercooked, cheese sauce overpowered the whole meal, very strong! Starter delicious, desert average. Views amazing, especially as we visited at night during a thunderstorm. I"

  • "I truly could not find anything wrong. Service at this restaurant was the really outstanding feature. Staff was always available but not overbearing. They anticipated and met every need."

  • "Made reservations for a birthday dinner and we left very satisfied. We arrived about 30 minutes late for our reservation on a busy Saturday night and the staff was nice enough to accommodate us and seat ua on a window table with a great view of the city. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and very sweet. He even sang happy birthday to me and treated us with a piece of cake and a candle to make a birthday wish. I wasn't expecting that. The food was good but not great and yes, they are a bit overpriced but personally for me was worth it. You are really paying for the view and the atmosphere. Very happy with everything and will definitely visit this place again."

  • "Our servers were great and the buffet had many high quality choices, so great service and food. There should be better signage at the 3rd floor reception desk. My spouse and I, as well as several others, arrived early and with no one at the desk, it was very unclear what you were supposed to do. The third floor is empty when there are no events, so no one to ask. The actual view isn't as good as it used to be - The Marriott is now surrounded by taller buildings, so you don't see much in the distance (beyond the hotel's control, but worth noting). Another note - for a fancy restaurant, almost no one was dressed up. Even many people in shorts. Maybe because it was brunch. Some $$$$$ restaurants do recommend a dress code though."

  • "A must do restaurant when you next visit NYC. Food and service was surprisingly good, make a late booking then you can stay for as long as you like, earlier bookings only had a 2 hour time frame. Great views as it revolves."

  • "Great for a special occasion - go at night to get the best views and ask for a table near the window . It's expensive as you have to remember to add tax & tips but worth it for a special treat"

  • "I never actually heard of this place until my aunt told me about it. It's definitely a restaurant to be tried once in a lifetime. It's a little too rich for my blood, so I don't expect to be returning anytime soon. Unless I win lotto. Everything about it was great though. No complaints."

  • "If you ever want to See the City Center of Manhattan/New York at Night while eating a delicious three-course meal this should be your First option. The Service is Great and the view is breath-taking! The meals all have decent sizes which might be too small for some."

  • "We went to The View to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary, we couldn't have asked for a better place that this, the service was outstanding and Tracey our waitress was absolutely brilliant with recommendations on food and drink and also very friendly. The food was absolutely delicious. We we also presented with a gift from The View. Afterwards we heading up to the cocktail bar to carry on the evening. The only fault was our close friends back inthe UK has emailed and phoned The View on a number of occasions to pre-order a bottle of bubbly for us on our arrival, but the restaurant never go back to them."

  • "Meal was of average quality, desert was delightful. $84 for a fixed meal, plus $70 on wine/sides makes for an expensive trip. The views were really very good however, and probably worth a fair proportion of the price paid. The decor certainly needs an upgrade."

  • "For a prime location on top of a lovely prime spot hotel the restaurant is very disappointing. $84 for a set meal with 3 or so choices for each course. So you can't just have a starter pr a main sorry you can but it will cost you $84. I choose not to eat my wife ordered prawns for a starter they looked gorgeous but tasted terrible one bite and my wife had to spit it back out into her napkin ans there was a horrible smell when we asked the waiter what it was he said ot was the cheese that they use and the smell was coming from the kitchen it was over powering we had to leave after just having a cocktail each the staff was very courteous and pleasant and charged us just for the drinks.it is looking very tired ansd need a good refurbish."

  • "From the moment we entered the restaraunt we were treated like royalty. The service was outstanding. One in our group has a tree but allergy, the chef came out and walked her around the buffet to let her know exactly what she could eat. The food was amazing, the presentation was beautiful. The constantly changing views of the city so much fun! The waiter knew every building and had fun info about the ciity, and we are all New Yorkers!"

  • "Went there fo a birthday party. View is suoerb and service was extremely friendly. Quality of food is perfectible (very sweet orange sauce with bass can bi discussed). Decorum could be refreshed. Completely overpriced."

  • "The view from this restaurant is outstanding, but the food is not good, despite its price. The menu is very limited offering a required three courses at a fixed price. The selections for the courses are very limited, and my choices were not good [I chose the crab cake appetizer and the filet main course]. You are better off spending this kind of money at Ruth Chris or the like, I feel like I spent the money just to have a good view. Not. Worth. It."
    Dined on 6/27/2014
  • "This restaurant is located in the Marriott Marquis hotel. After taking the elevator to the 3rd floor and then catching ANOTHER elevator to the 48th floor, I had to walk down a flight of stairs to the 47th floor to get to the restaurant. Then after my meal, I had to reverse that process. Woe to someone who can't do stairs! There is an elevator to get you from the 47th to the 48th floor, but you have to wait on it 5-10 minutes. During peak hours (i.e. Saturday night), someone needs to be manning that elevator full-time."
    Dined on 6/28/2014
  • "The view was nice and so was the elevator ride but the food was lackluster"
    Dined on 6/27/2014
  • "Where do I start?! There was no atmosphere, ambiance to the restaurant. Service was overall poor. We had two waiters one was ok but the other was terrible. Food was edible but not great and over priced for what we had. We're visiting from London and dining in a rotating restaurant with the Manhattan skyline to look out to was appealing but unfortunately it didn't materialise, 'The View' was it's saving grace."
