The restaurant was a great way to start my girlfriends birthday. I would suggest if it's a special occasion not to book the buffet and go for the dinner option as you will notice the grade in people is very different around you on the two different floors which are separated for dinner and buffet. The staff were fantastic, quick and respectful throughout our meal. The three course dinner with a few drinks will set you back just over $300 with gratuity however it's well worth it. The view was remarkable and you can't even feel the restaurant revolving so sit back enjoy the view With some good food!

  • Why must all brunches be buffet ?

It was a special occasion for us and we planned brunch and a theater matinee. When I booked on Open Table brunch menu was unavailable - although they did say that lunch and brunch were available. No where did it say that they were the same menu and were buffet . I do not enjoy buffet and would have chosen another venue had I known . When we arrived , we were seated at a window table as I had requested . We were asked immediately if we would like to start with a mimosa and told that service was a buffet . We were given no info about the cost pp. , whether there was any choice of beverage , or that 2 mimosas were included. I had to ask about this. Aside from this, the restaurant was VERY noisy - almost precluding conversation at times. As for the much touted view, it is really mostly of rooftop equipment , a/c units etc. Food was good but not great . Coffee, when served , was barely warm and when I asked our server to heat it up a little , I was told," that's as hot as it gets ! "

I booked a table for two at The View for my best friends 21st birthday, a girls night out. I made the reservation two months in advance and yet we still were not allocated a window seat. Given that The View is a restaurant that boasts it's capacity to reveal the most spectacular city views, sitting in the centre of of the revolving circle was less than impressive. The food was mediocre. At best. At first you are approached by your server and presented with a menu that contains the first two of three parts of the Prix Fixe menu they offer. We were offered water, Still, Sparkling or Iced. We selected Still. We were brought a bottle of VOSS water. Later on our bill it was revealed this was $10. When at the stores you can buy it for $2.99... What? We were also offered bread and butter while we waited (no charge there) and rightly so, we were given a small basket containing three rock solid rolls. I mean left out for weeks to go as stale as possible consistency. I would almost expect this on a cheap airline but not in a restaurant with a price range described as $$$$. So you ho-hum with your menu and select your starter and your main and perhaps a drink to go with it. You are then throughly ignored by your server (or we were) for quite some time. When our server finally returned to take our orders we both ordered the "Centre cut beef tenderloin" cooked medium... When the mains arrived, after an incredibly bland entree of a Crab cake, they had managed to achieve the fabulous feat of cooking the meat until it was bone dry and chewy on the outside and incredibly pink on the inside. I mean chewing for a good 5 minutes per piece before you even considering swallowing it. Award winning chef you say? Hmmm. The dessert was equally as disappointing and we were throughly ignored by our server throughout the night but lo and behold she ensured to included an "18% gratuity" into our bill. I've had better service at IHOP and I never gave that guy $40. I will not return.

Of course in NY the View is a place to visit ,but be careful with reserving dinner-U are looking at preset dinner 85$ per person, plus taxes . food is an ok at best At the end of the dinner you might be pounded with a hefty tip 18%(applicable to party of six ) but they might try it out on you in case you are overwhelmed with a beautiful view . It is much better to attend launch area you can choose and select food you like and enjoy same view for a more reasonable price Think twice

I booked a table for dinner on 20th November 2014 to celebrate my partners 30th Birthday, on her recommendation I might say (she used to work for Marriott & heard great reviews). The table was booked for 20:30 and when we arrived we requested a window seat if possible, we were very quickly and kindly asked to wait in the bar area while enjoying a wine and the views and this would be just a short wait - 20 minutes later & we were collected from the bar and shown to an excellent table with a fantastic view. Our main waiter of the evening, Tom was brilliant from start to finish (as were the rest of the team in The View), he ran through the menu with us & recommending popular dishes and the food was amazing! Tom really took the time to chat with us, reccommended places to visit in the city (this was our first time in New York - we live in Newcastle in the UK). Not only this, when he found out it was my partners birthday, he made a point of bringing over a lovely little chocolate cake complete with a candle. In general the whole experience was fantastic, and all made better by the service received and knowledge of your team, Tom in particular. Thanks again! Steve & Ashley.

I was expecting a lot as this is a restaurant in the centre of NY however it was quiet with good servers but nothing special, I have always experienced America's customers service as one I have never had anywhere else in the world but this could of had been England, food was very good but would n9t go back, the set menu and one drink came to £145 which we thought was a lot considering the experience. Do try this if you want to go in a revolving restaurant! That's why I chose this one!!

After reading reviews criticising the service, my wife and I decided to eat at the View anyway. The main course was delivered at least 5 minutes before the vegetables. Before the vegetables arrived our meals were cold because the warm food was served on cold plates so we returned them for warming up. **What is the difficulty in serving warm food on warm plates ** The staff were friendly enough, however, being totally cynical I thought the service including 'friendly smiles' was false and entirely focussed on a tip. I was not wrong as the waiter wanted to include the maximum tip. I asked him not to include it so he made a point of highlighting the tip on the bill. The food was OK but will the staff please read the feedback and try and improve

The View is a must for all visitors to NY. Food is good and views spectacular. Staff were super friendly and we will be coming again on next visit to the big apple. 2 small negatives. Would recommend this restaurant for a special occasion. It is not cheap but the food and wine was very good. We booked this for The View though as it is stunning to be able to see New York from here and each time you look up you see a different view. The napkins in the bar beforehand were useful as they were printed showing the names of all the iconic buildings.

We love The View for brunch. The buffet is always good. Missed the Eggs Benedict, though, this past time. The desserts should be labeled, as is done with most of the other food. Due to allergies and strong dislikes, I hate wasting the desserts by having to give them a taste-test first. With such a large selection of desserts, it would be nice to know what they are or what is in them. The views are spectacular. Takes a full hour to go around one full time. Love it.

It would be helpful of the menue explained some of the dishes a little better. Our waiter, who was very nice was just too rushed with the amount of tables. It was long periods of time between us seeing him to perhaps get another drink, or some more water. I do not believe it was the waiters fault he was just too stretched with the amount of tables he had to care for.

We had made reservation on a friday, and did not wait for long time before the waitress showed our table. We had an amazing view, but the service was embarrassing. We ordered vine to the appertizer, and had to ask for it twice even the appertizer came to the table. We sat three people at the table, and when one was done with the appertizer the waitress took the plate away even the rest of us where not done. When maincourse came we had redvine, but the waitress never refilled our glases, and when the waterbottle was empty, they took it away without asking us if we wanted more. We also did not know that we had to order three courses (appertizer, main and dessert). If you want to see the best of new york i would recomend the view, but do not expect good service or to great food.

Menu is not that extensive but food was really good. We got a special anniversary dessert on the house. Overall a really good experience . The floor moving doesnt even feel weird... We we're celebrating our19th wedding anniversary. We loved the food and the views however the ambiance was not as romantic as we had hoped. We were seated beside two tables of large groups and both were loud. Also the dress code was way too relaxed. Sneakers and sweat shirts with obscenity. NOT COOL. Maybe the couple tables could be together away from large groups the the large groups spoiled the mood.7

Booked this restaurant as a birthday treat for my boyfriends 40th. Mentioned in booking so I could get a window seat but te restaurant made a fuss and even went as far as bringing a cake out. Food is amazing service is the same. Will be going back again.

The view was probably the best part of the experience besides the cheese cake .. Menu is hard to read food selection isn't that good overall it was just a one time thing just for the rotating dinning
