We made reservations. Arrived and found out we had to wait if we wanted a window table. Ordered steak and returned it. It was so overcooked, it was like chewing shoe leather. They did cook a different type of steak and gave me a free glass of wine. Overall for the price we paid, the food was mediocre. Our waiter David was very good.

My family and I celebrated my daughter's 45th birthday at The View. After reading some negative reviews, I was a bit sceptical, but our experience there was everything I'd hoped it would be. The staff was attentive and extremely knowledgeable of the menu and although they do no have a kids menu, our server helped them make decisions he felt would appeal to them. They also surprised my daughter (and me!) with a little dessert with a birthday candle. It was lovely to slowly revolve, giving us all the exciting views NYC has to offer. We will definitely go there again for a very special occasion.

Save your pennies and head to this restaurant for that special evening. It's a unique environment, with the slowly turning restaurant providing a panoramic view of the city (weather permitting). But an $85 minimum per person? And a minimum $13-14 per glass of wine? Ouch. Our party of three adults and one child ran up about a $500 bill with three meals, five glasses of wine, tax and 20 percent tip (well deserved, though). It was a special occasion for us but, still, if I had known the price in advance I would have gone elsewhere. Our waitress was very kind and helpful, going out of her way for a casually dressed group with a rambunctious child. But the service was extremely slow.

We found the food to be excellent here, but the service was mixed with our dessert order being forgotten by the waitress and blamed on the kitchen for "losing" it, but we are not easily fooled. Also, the promised view of Times Square does not eventuate, although the vista of other buildings is still good. Finally, the meal was crazy expensive.

This a a revolving restaurant with and incredible New York vista. The food is really good but geared to out of towners. Kind of like what you expect to find on the menu in an Atalanta Georga Country Club. The wait staff is super pleasant and nice. The management is a major pain in the a--. I was warned before I was even seated that I would have to get up in 2 hours, that was the allotted seating time. More like a ride at Disney world than a fine restaurant. Also we were tricked into a $10 bottle of water, when we were asked if we wanted sparkling or still water, we said plain water will do. While we were in conversation out came a bottle of designer water, they just slipped it right passed us.Beware.

I enjoyed The View immensely. I took my wife to brunch for her birthday and it did not disappoint. The food was perfect, the service was amazing. This has become our favorite celebration restaurant. I recommend this highly to anyone who wants to enjoyed a wonderful variety of taste foods. Sunday brunch is such a delight. Since we go 1-2 times a year we have not only fell in love with the food, atmosphere and scenery, but also the staff. We have been blessed to have Samir and Miz tend to our table. They anticipated our every request. The service is impeccable. I hope to be dinning there again very soon.

If you are looking for fine dining, The View is not the place for you even though it is a minimum of $150.00 per person. It is a tourist destination and gimmick venue. The food is fair to good. Way over priced. There are limited selections on the forced price fixed menu. Servers are polite, and automatic. It is a place to go to just for the gimmick of a revolving restaurant. The true experienced diner will not be satisfied. Dinner started with cold (literally out of the fridge cold) bread sticks. The plates are pre-prepped, including dinner. The clever use of refrigeration, and "holding units" for the hot food is obvious. Will not return.

The views are very nice, and the restaurant ambiance is nice as well. The food is average. The appetizers and desserts were great, however the main course was under-whelming. The vegetables were over-cooked, and for a more `decent`restaurant, I would expect more. We were not wowed by the main course in any way. It looked like a mass produced type meal. I would recommend for drinks and appetizers on the lounge side however.

I have read a lot of negative reviews about this restaurant but cant understand why. The service was excellent, the food was wonderful, the views were spectacular and you cant even feel the room revolving (which some people have left negative reviews about). It was my birthday and we treated ourselves to this restaurant. It was lovely and the food was excellent. We didnt have a window table but we had a very good view anyway. When we had ordered our dessert the waited said that a window table was available if we wanted to finish our meal there which we did. To be honest, you really dont need to have a window table to enjoy the views. It was quite expensive but well worth it. They even gave me a birthday cake !

We made a reservation at The View for dinner before the theater. Our play started uncharacteristically early, at 7 PM. We did not realize that The View only served a three-course fixed price dinner. Worried that we would not be able to eat dinner and arrive at the theater on time, we explained our situation to the server and she miraculously orchestrated the serving of the three courses in a prompt manner, but not hurrying us while doing it. The food was fabulous and we only wished that we had had more time to linger over the meal.

I celebrated my engagement by having dinner with my fiancee here. I loved the view and ambiance. It was super romantic and we loved the dishes. There were a few things that irked me. They state that each sitting is usually 2 hours long. I didn't understand why that was, and then when I got there, I realized...everything took much longer than normal. Most notably, 10 minutes after we were seated we were offered water and then some time after that we were provided a menu. Waiter said he would do something "special" for dessert, when it was just something routine for them; we were given what I felt was standard dessert instead of offered options or the ability to choose our own. Overall great food and great for special occasions.

My sisters and I had booked a table at The View, after having been there ourself, as a surprise for our parents 33th. anniversary, and their first time in New York. The feed-back we got from your parents was amazing! The food and wine had been great, the waiter had been sweet and very talkative. But best of all they got a cake with: happy anniversary written on it. This cake was not ordered by my sister and I, so we were VERY happy, that the view did this for our parents!! Thank you very much! :)

A very pleasant evening spent on floor 48. We had a window seat which was much appreciated. Window seats are first come first served so a little luck and timing is needed to secure one. We are at 7pm and there was plenty of room in the restaurant at that time. The food was nicely presented. We had crab cakes to start which were delicious then steak which was well cooked and tasty. Overall a great evening and we were not rushed although the bookings do state that there is a time limit of two hours we were there for around 3. I guess because we had extra drinks and rounded off the evening with coffee. They expect an 18% tip and although this is a bit steep it is special. The dinner is prix fixe at 84$ each and drinks are pricey. Try it once.

We went to The View to celebrate a September birthday and anniversary, hoping for a very special experience, and were not disappointed! This was our 3rd time, but the first for their Sunday brunch. Our waiters, Mort and Joseph, were attentive and friendly. Of course, you can't go wrong with the view itself, and we had a beautiful, sunny day to revolve around the city. What set it apart were the unusual, such as cured salmon and mango/lobster shooters, the enticing, such as shot-glass size custard and mousse desserts, as well as the actual display of the foods - salad greens set into a box, and foods displayed as if at a local market. Everything was top-shelf, specialty items you'd find in a gourmet market. Delicious coffee & mimosas.
