  • "My wife and I decided to go for Easter Dinner in the old neighborhood. We had been there before and always enjoyed the singing. We forgot how good the food and wine is also."

  • "Great South Philly tradition. The waitstaff are all exceptional servers and even more exceptional operatic singers. The food is okay, nothing to write home about, but it's the ambience and singing that make this an annual event for my daughter and I on her birthday."

  • "Dinner Saturday night at Victors was as always wonderful. The food the singing all were first rate and the pricing is reasonable for this level of restaurant."

  • "We enjoyed dinner prior to a concert by the Philadelphia Orchestra. A fabulous start to a great night of music. We enjoyed a half-dozen musical selections during our meal. Dinner was scrumptious (we had the fresh filet of the day -- tilapia in a heavenly wine sauce). We go to Victors whenever we get the chance."

  • "I've been hearing about Victor from my husband who was there years ago. He assumed it no longer existed, but it's alive and well. Happens to be in our daughter's new neighborhood and she stumbled across it one day. Lovely, bustling atmosphere. The squash gnocchi on the specials the evening we were there was fantastic. Veal saltimbocca was excellent. Polenta side and beet salad got raves. Incredible molten lava cake. And the opera is sublime. Lovely voices all around. We'll definitely be back."

  • "We had heard of Victor Cafe ever since moving to Philadelphia a year ago but thought the narrow streets of South Philadelphia would create a parking nightmare that would prevent a good evening. But the friendly valets (reasonably priced) were a pleasant surprise. But the greatest joy came with the wonderful italian food and the energetic arias. My wife comes from a Sicilian family and knows what is real and what is faux-italian. THis was the real thing. Lilly, our singer-server was just so down home. None of that "we're upscale and pricy so you had better appreciate me" attitude. Just genuine. The quality of the singing was outstanding...at the level I have seen in a number of staged operas. The real spumoni left us on a high note."

  • "While the food was very tasty, it was the periodic music that made the event for me. We went before the theatre so we couldn't just hang out but next time in Philadelphia, we plan an evening with you. I was hoping for Nesun Dorma but couldn't wait for it."

  • "Visiting my daughter in Philly, took her & roommates, the food was great but the service & added bonus of the waiters & waitress singing opera was just fabulous. Their voices were remarkable our waitress in particular,I hope they are all discovered soon. A truly special dining experience & will go back when I'm in Philly again."

  • "The ambiance was nice and the singing was great. My salad was excellent, but my pasta dish was completely uninspired, For an Italian resaturant in South Philly, I was very diappointed. Linguine was overcooked, actually very mushy. Staff was very nice, the young man who handles valet was a very nice young man."

  • "Dining at Victors Cafe is a memorable experience. The staff is energetic and of course very talented. One can hear them sing 4-5 arias during their stay for dinner. The food is outstanding. I recommend the veal piccata and Caesar Salad. I took a friend there for her first time and she commented that it was both entertaining and delectable. Not your run of the mill restaurant. You will also enjoy the walls of photos and the romantic cozy 2nd floor. Bonapetit!"

  • "How did I not know about this place? As somebody who knows Italian food, I can say the food couldn't have been better. The service didn't falter even as our water prepared for his solos. And what amazing talents. Waiters who sing opera?! And, its a place of history for its nearly 100 years of evistance. Just fabulous. This place is sooo worth the trip."

  • "My husband and I made reservations a month before for a week after Valentine's Day. We had an amazing time. They had a table for us by the front door but we requested for one more in the restaurant which was fine, they didn't mind. The restaurant was nice and cozy feeling. The opera was breath taking and amazing. brought tears to my eyes... the wine, drinks, appetizer, entrees, were all amazing. then we went upstairs for a night cap after we were finished downstairs. which was beautiful & peaceful. and the bartender was a riot. we cant wait to go back."

  • "The narrow roads around the restaurant are a tad tricky to navigate, but the dining experience makes it more than worth it. The food was outstanding, the service impeccable and the ambiance is like nothing else you will find in Philadelphia. I cannot recommend this restaurant more highly."

  • "So enjoyed the atmosphere. The food was excellent, service was great. The highlight of the evening was each dining staff member sings opera, whereby every few mins you get a little show! One of the best doing experiences I have ever had!"

  • "Really enjoyed the various opera performance of the servers. The food was equally very good. Both my friend and I had the Veal Piccata with the spinach salad and the tiramasu - all excellent choices. The food was hot and served in a friendly and timely manner. We would definitely return again and try other dishes. The atmosphere felt like you were dining in someone's home."

  • "I was part of a group of five. We enjoyed our evening there very much. The atmosphere and specialness of the singing was worth the trip. The food was pretty good but I wouldn't go there just for the food. It's mostly the casual and regular operatic singing as well as the enthusiasm of the waitstaff performers that draws people to this special place."

  • "Hello, Loved the restaurant. Went to Philadelphia because I'm fan of Rocky Balboa. The experience with the restaurant was unique. Never seen operates restaurants. It was really awesome! So I was upset because the manager did not show me the kitchen of the restaurant, which appears in the movie Rocky. Thank you! One day I'll be back!"

  • "Last minute decision and somewhat blind pick to have some good Italian food. All that and more. Very good drinks and food, friendly but still proper and professional wait staff, and the live entertainment! Creme Brulee was some our best ever, anywhere. Made us feel like we were with friends we didn't know we had. We will be back when in Philly."

  • "We were celebrating a birthday so we went to Victor's for a special evening. To our most pleasant surprise, we were serenaded more than usual throughout the nearly 3 hours we dined. While the food was not spectacular, we all enjoyed our dinner and the homey and authentic ambience, friendly staff and wonderful talent made for a truly fine evening."

Loved the ambience; especially the upstairs lounge where we had drinks before dinner. I had pasta with mushrooms spinach and tomatoes. My husband had the veal saltimbocca. A friend got the chicken. All of the dishes were very good! Our waitress was wonderful and so friendly and nice! Just a great time had by all! The arias just added to the ambience. A real treat!"

  • "Made special trip to Philly for son's birthday. Place recommended by son's colleagues at U. Penn. We called ahead to notify them of his birthday. We were assured that something special would be done. Bad omen was when we had to wait upstairs with an inattentive bartender for 50 minutes who was rude. Table OK, food OK, bread hard and stale. Ordered dessert and waited for something special to happen . Other tables received attention to their celebrations but ours never came. When the waiter brought our check, we told him about it and he tritely said " sorry ". He came back and arrogantly said " I never got the message ". My wife spoke to the host telling him we were disappointed. He said" what do you want me to do". Go elsewhere."

  • "We had not been Victor Cafe for many years, and returned to celebrate a special occasion. In the past, we had gone because we wanted to enjoy the great music for which they are known. While this was THE top not of the evening, we would return just for the food -- the classic menu was very well executed. Bravo."
