  • "We had a great family time and meal at Verandah. The seafood was fantastic, the staff was very accommodating to food allergies, and the wait staff made it a lot of fun."

  • "The food and service was great. Would have liked our wine stay at our table instead of having to ask for more. Mentioned it was my wife's birthday so guess we were looking for a little something extra but we didn't get that. Great food especially fried chicken for non seafood people. Loved unique serving plates."

  • "Had reservations, arrived 15 mins early & checked in with hostess. Unable to get a drink at crowded very small bar. 20-30 mins later inquired at podium about reservation without a very definitive answer. Later the original hostess spied us standing there and asked us if we had a reservation???? Once seated the the wait staff was good as was the food. Try elsewhere for a relaxed, quiet dining experience. First impressions are lasting."

  • "My husband and I had a wonderful dinner at the Verandah. Our server was one of the best we've had, recommending dishes and describing the interesting menu with great confidence and skill. Notable was the smoked mullet appetizer which my husband loved. Mullet is NOT normally a fish of choice, but we had to try it. The chef had researched the recipe, found someone noted for smoking the fish with a lovely glaze and created a very nice appetizer. We also enjoyed the filet and lobster tail with delicious fresh succotash and yummy potatoes. We definitely recommend the Verandah!"

  • "First, if you can get Tesa for your server, she is awesome! We had as much fun joking around and talking with her, as we did talking with the people in our party. Secondly, I highly recommend the blue crab crusted grouper. It was recommended by Tesa and I loved it! It was delicious. Another person in our party got the filet and shrimp. The filet had not an ounce of fat on it and was cooked to perfection. I would highly recommend this location for a special dinner ~ food, wine and service were the BEST (and again, ask for Tesa)!"

  • "The food was very good and the service attentive. We were there for the "appreciation night" for Amelia members, with the entrees and wine and half price. It was still quite an expensive meal!"

  • "Food was very good. I had grouper and my wife had cajun seafood pasta dish. We had the deviled eggs for appetiser which were presented in pieces of driftwood they were very good as well. The room itself is quite nice very open and airy. The view is of the tennis courts so its not overly romantic but nice nonetheless. Service was excellent."

  • "Allison Turner was our server. We always request her bc she's GREAT! She's super friendly, knowledgable of the menu, wine list & food allergies."

  • "I have celiac disease and cannot eat any wheat products. There were several options for me to eat and the server was quite knowledgeable. She also offered gluten free bread with my salad."

  • "While the food was OK, the atmosphere was dismal, lighting poor, building and grounds in disrepair. There is absolutely no view, and a fairly limited menu. We will not go back, and wish we hadn't stayed."

  • "I visit this restaurant every time I visit Amelia Island. It is without a doubt one of the best restaurants on the island. The food is perfect and the service is outstanding. It's always a great experience. "

  • "e made reserv. 1 month in advance & when we arrived there were 1 couple ahead of us & 2 women behind us. The hostess was very flustered. She took a while to seat the couple ahead of us & ignored us. When she finally acknowledged us, she told us how busy she was. Then sat us in the back near the kitchen. We asked if we could sit by the window as many seats were open. She said NO& she had MANY reserv. & left. The 2 who came in with us & had NO reserv were seated after us at a prime location by the window. When we were leaving I asked the same hostess why we couldn't be seated by the window, as many tables were open during the entire time we were dining & she looked blank at me. "

  • "The crab and snap pea soup was tasteless and the "simply grilled" grouper was overwhelmed with garlic. "

  • "The service and food were outstanding, fresh fish and you want only more food and fresh fish. The noise level is something else, if their are groups in the restaurant the noise level is so high you badly can have conversations with your own table. "

  • "Large work party groups in main dining Noise and behavior raucous Waitress lacked basic timing skills and manners Second time in my life I zeroed the tip They did not care The group was the priority Ughhhh"

  • "This upscale local restaurant has a big menu with particularly delicious seafood offerings. The grouper is my favorite. Sweet corn soup is a tasty starter. The bar area is comfortable and welcoming, quieter than the dining room, and its menu is creative (deviled eggs with bacon served in glass cups on a driftwood plank an example) and can easily make a light meal. Popular for large group parties, the noise level can become obtrusive for small parties trying to converse. The parking lot is dark and needs better lighting. If you come on the Plantation tram that's not a problem, but local drivers must negotiate carefully after dark."

  • "We went to The Verandah our last night staying at the Omni Villas. Our server was great, very knowledgeable about the menu and very friendly. The menu offered a wide assortment of grilled fish options and specialty dinners. It is pricey, but well worth the trip. We would definitely return!"

  • "Had a 6:00 PM reservation. The place at that time was mostly empty. The hostess walked away when we arrived, had to wait about 10 minutes for attention. Requested a specific area to seat and had to fight with her to get that location. The food was OK but portions are very small and overall very expensive. My date ordered a special beef dish and it was missing a sauce. She had to ask for the sauce but by the time it was brought to the table, she had almost finished the meal. Also, we had to ask for water and there was no salt or pepper on the table, had to ask for that also. "

  • "First time to Amelia Island and our first dinner was at the Verandah. I had the crab encrusted grouper (amazing) and my spouse had a grilled grouper (also amazing). Start to finish it was a fantastic dining experience. Service was also top notch. We will be back."

  • "There are many great dining options on Amelia Island, but The Verandah really stands above the crowd. We had never eaten there and decided to try it on Saturday, March 22, our last night on the island. We made a 6:45 reservation and were seated right away. A party walked in ahead of us without a reservation and were told it could be close to an hour wait. Service was great, food absolutely delicious right down to the cornbread muffins in the bread basket! The waitress brought us a little sample of a sweet corn soup that I'm still dreaming about! I had the crab cakes and they were some of the best I've ever had. My husband had the seafood muddle and he loved every last bite. We will be sure to go back on our next visit."

  • "The Veranda has been updated with the OMNI remodels and it is all good now! Nice location overlooking the Tennis facility (not a bad seat in the house!) and while kid friendly, still very nice for a romantic dinner. The wine selection was very good both by the glass and bottle and the food was plentiful and delicious. The Crab Crusted Grouper was a treat!"

  • "Very disappointed in the unfriendly atmosphere & some staff. Our reservation was not to be found in the computer. We specifically ask to be seated where it was quiet; the hostess tried to seat us near the bar area! We ask to be near the windows where it would be more quiet. It was to be a birthday celebration but they did not have that in the computer system either. Our waiter was friendly but rushed as it was .Concorde d'Elegance weekend so tried to move people out quickly. The food was not up to par. Salmon was not wild as stated w/mushrooms & a nice sauce but that was it! And this was the feature entree of the night. Too bad as it was a fine place w/fine food for many years"

  • "Though we hadn't been to Verandah in quite some time, we made reservations primarily because it was convenient to a concert venue we were attending on a Sunday evening, when several other restaurants in the area are closed. A good friend, who is the consummate foodie and gourmet chef, had to be persuaded to join us because a few people had posted negative reviews (even though many more had a positive experience). We were relieved to find him pleasantly surprised, not only by our server's knowledge and attentiveness, but also by the presentation of our dinners. It didn't come as a surprise that our friend found a few things to criticize re: food quality, but even he was impressed overall."

  • "Our waitress, Tessa, was outstanding. Very friendly and attentive. Food was very good. Blue crab encrusted Grouper was rich and perfectly cooked. Sweet corn chowder was excellent--corn kernels were nice and crisp."

  • "This was my third time at this restaurant and the food is always excellent. For the first time the service did not match the food. Although it was Valentine's Day, all dining was by reservation so the restaurant had advanced knowledge of the demand on their staff. Waiting 45 minutes between ordering and delivery of desert was unacceptable! Yes, we communicated this to the manager on our way out."
