A word from The Veranda
The Veranda has recently won awards with the Go Texan program throughout the Texas Restaurant Association and the Texas Department of Agriculture. Chef James has shown his skill in the development of several recipes that have been published in major Texas magazines throughout the state. For that reason, The Veranda has decided to shift the menu to an Upscale Texas Cuisine. We are so lucky to live in a state that has such great beef and seafood. We will also be featuring some of the fabulous vegetables, herbs and cheeses of our great state. We will be pairing some fantastic Texas wines with these great new recipes, too. Look for the influence of our sister state, Louisiana, in many of the new menu items and a few of the recipes will feature spices from across the border in Mexico. Join us as we spice it up Texas style.

Good food (great brunch menu). Reasonable food and wine prices. Nice, friendly service. Only two other tables for brunch, but nice setting. Kingwood doesn't have many upscale places, but this is one of the best.

Wife and I haven't been back here for several years, but we're glad we tried it again. We both had the 8oz fillets, hers on the menu, mine prepared au poivre. Best tasting steaks we both have had in a long time and expertly prepared; temps perfect. The veggie and potatoes completed a great meal. We even split a dessert, which we never eat. My oly suggestion would be to kick up the wine list a bit with some higher end selections. Pat waited on us and despite a large party in the other room, took good care of us. We'll be back! Thank you.

I was surprised to see that I had not yet reviewed The Veranda. I have been there several times and love every part of it. The ambiance is fabulous. You get the feeling of enjoying dinner in someone's home rather than a busy restaurant. The staff gives everyone personal attention. The steaks at The Veranda are amazing - perfectly cooked every time. The fire and ice shrimp appetizer is so unique. I can't get enough of it. Last but definitely not least is the coffee. Yes, I said coffee. Even if you are too full from the awesome dinner to have dessert, do not end your meal without having a cup of their delicious coffee. It really is the prefect end to a perfect meal at The Veranda.

The Veranda was perfect from the moment we walked up the front steps of this charming home that houses this fabulous restaurant to the personal service we received to the amazing food. The restaurant is small and intimate which is perfect for a romantic dinner or a family celebration. The Veranda has won awards for their Filet Diablo and Fire & Ice Shrimp and you will know why when you take your first bite. The combination of the spicy shrimp and cool pineapple sorbet is so unexpected and amazing. The demi-glaze on the Filet is to die for. One of the most surprising wonders at the Veranda is the dark roast coffee! Yes, I said coffee. It was even better than the Chocolate Silk Royale cake which was out of this world.Go to the Veranda!

Lovely place. Owner himself waited on us, and he was very gracious and entertaining. It was like being in someone's home. The background music was a tape of the owners (husband and wife) singing familiar songs VERY well. Recommend the Chicken Roulade Texas style. It was fantastic. My traveling companions and I talked about it all week. Alas, the salmon was overdone and oversauced with a strange sauce--I do not recommend it. The mahi mahi was good, not great. Wine was fine. This looks like it would be a great place to have an event like a small wedding or a rehearsal dinnger.

If you have not tried The Veranda you better reserve today! Ray and Pat made this a very special dining experience for us that will never be forgotten. The ambiance is amazing, and so was all the food that was prepared. We felt like we had our own personal chef. We started off with the Crab cakes, then moved to a Cesar salad. For our main dishes we selected the Salmon, and Lamb which were both amazing. Then we finished it off with Creme brûlée. This is definitely a must on anyone's list!

What an absolute treasure of a restaurant. The Veranda is a truly local restaurant where the food is incredible, and you get to know the owners personally. My wife and I had just landed at Houston Intercontinental and I used OpenTable to find a good restaurant. Relying on the great reviews, we decided to try the Veranda. I can honestly say that meal became one of our favorite restaurant experiences of all time. The food was among the best we have ever had. The owners, who are musical artists, also interacted with us personally and genuinely. They have had the restaurant at the same location for 16 years. Quaint and excellent. Very reasonable prices. On our list of "have to go to" places when in Houston.

The Veranda Restaurant is an elegant adventure in fine dining with a romantic ambiance, excellent service and quality menu choices. Tucked in a quiet residential neighborhood, this beautiful property makes you feel right at home! Most menu entree choices are less than $25.00, and the portion sizes enable you to enjoy the homemade dessert! The restaurant is also happy to cater to private parties, corporate events or wedding dinners. We celebrated a Silver Anniversary and it couldn't have been a more perfect evening. My husband and I look forward to our next experience at The Veranda! Mary Pettigrew

My luncheon was to honer the birthday of a special friend--the management and staff at The Veranda rolled our the red carpet for her. The food was wonderful, we both had salads, I had the Texas Wedge and my friend had the poached pear. Both were delicious and we cleaned the plates. We had champagne in honor of my friend's 84th birthday, management surprised us by presenting our champagne "on the house". The owner, a musician, also sang happy birthday to her, and presented her with a piece of cheececake and a lit candle. I was able to get a picture of this and had a print made and framed for her to remember the day forever. I can't thank them enough for making this day so special for such a special person.
