The Veranda on HighlandA sublime meal.We have brunch here fairly often, but had not had an evening meal there for a few months. In 2012, a new Executive Chef, Jeffrey Hansell, also trained in New Orleans, replaced Mr. Robey (there for 5 years). Our party of four was seated in a quite area and had a wonderful conversation without undue distractions despite being near the bar. Our appetizers (pork mini sliders on wonderful biscuits, and fried pickle slices) were outstanding. All four of our meals were sublime and also unique interpretations of traditional dishes. The combinations of flavors were inspired and remarkably, the meals were not overly salty as was often the case in the past. Service was excellent, the atmosphere was elegant and the food was good. I only rate the food as good because of what I ordered. It was a dish I've never eaten before and it wasn't my favorite dish in the world. It was presented well and the accompanying food was great.
