Diner Reviews
  • "If I go to the Fairmont's dining room, I expect to get something that's at least reasonably good for dinner. What I actually got was a rather exceptional dinner! Yes, the Velvet Glove did it up right for Valentine's Day. A half dozen courses, and each of them was simply fantastic. We both came away suitably impressed and quite grateful for a most memorable meal. The food could not have been much better. We were, in fact, very thrilled with our dinner, and that hardly ever happens. Thank you."

  • "Service was superb, food was delish, Place was empty as we went very early, but it was dining at it's finest, The girlfriend loved it, and we'll definitely go back to try more on the menu. Highly Recommended if you get the chance."

  • "This restaurant is a real gem. Makes you feel like you are in a vintage home dining room. Love the wood trimming, comfy chairs and overall feel of this dining room. Just wish the lights were dimmed a little bit."

  • "This restaurant always makes one feel special. The ambiance and service is always first class. Our appetizers were excellent but unfortunately the main course was a disappointment. We both chose the cod which came with a lobster and lentil ragout. The fish, advertised as being encrusted with wild mushrooms was not and was rather tasteless. The lentils were mushy and the lobster chunks were chewy. Dessert was great and the wine recommended by our waiter was lovely."

  • "Great restaurant with a romantic feel and a great history. Always proud to be a Winnipeger when we dine there. Service is impeccable. Lezandro is the best server in the country. Always makes it a memorable experience. We always ask to be in his section."

  • "The food was very good. The restaurant was not busy (four tables seated, including ours) and the waiter did not even pay attention to us! We constantly had to flag him down to ask to place our orders, ask for wine list, water, etc. he would disappear into the back for extended periods of time and never once apologized for the lousy service."
