  • "We were greeted by name and referred by name throughout the evening. The service was old school and ironically that was refreshing. The food was perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. Overall a wonderful evening that left us wondering we hadn't been here for so long."

  • "My husband and I stayed at the Fairmont for our 10th wedding anniversary. We went to the Velvet Gove our first night there. There were only us and on other couple in the restaurant and it was so nice and quiet. The atmosphere was great, a little traditional but not in a bad way. The service was excellent. Not sure how it would be if it was busier but it was great none the less. The food was fantastic. Great "foodie" food. We both had beef tenderloin, it as cooked perfectly. We also were offered a complementary appetizer along with the ones we'd already orders. For us, this is a once a year treat as the prices are high, rightfully so, but not something we could afford on a regular basis. We would recommend this to friends. Thank you!"

  • "Our 45th anniversary dinner at the Velvet Glove on May 10 was just wonderful! Waiter Langdorino(sp?) was attentive, polite and very knowledgable about the menu. When asked for suggestions gave us good ones. He told us about the special which was any appetizer, any entree and any dessert available for a special price. We ordered this and had a spectacular dinner. The whole evening and 'Velvet Glove Experience' was great. The food tasted and looked too good to eat and was presented beautifully. We heartily recommend it and can't wait to return for another memorable evening and meal there. "

Very good value for the price. All four of us had different starters, mains and dessert. All four of us were very impressed with each course; beautifully presented. My steak was done to perfection. The portion sizes were generous . The wine list impressive."

  • "If I go to the Fairmont's dining room, I expect to get something that's at least reasonably good for dinner. What I actually got was a rather exceptional dinner! Yes, the Velvet Glove did it up right for Valentine's Day. A half dozen courses, and each of them was simply fantastic. We both came away suitably impressed and quite grateful for a most memorable meal. The food could not have been much better. We were, in fact, very thrilled with our dinner, and that hardly ever happens. Thank you."

  • "This restaurant always makes one feel special. The ambiance and service is always first class. Our appetizers were excellent but unfortunately the main course was a disappointment. We both chose the cod which came with a lobster and lentil ragout. The fish,advertised as being encrusted with wild mushrooms was not and was rather tasteless. The lentils were mushy and the lobster chunks were chewy. Dessert was great and the wine recommended by our waiter was lovely."
