The TridentTrident is, overall, a great choiceFour of us chose the Trident in Sausalito to celebrate a birthday. Of course, the view of San Francisco and the bay is spectacular, with everything from huge cargo ships to three-story party boats to rowboats going past right outside the window. The food was, on the whole, delicious, except for the drinks (a gin drink and a vodka drink), which tasted strange. The wait staff was attentive and unobtrusive. The noise level was extreme (hard to carry on a conversation); maybe the restaurant could install some noise buffers. The musician should be placed elsewhere on the top floor for maximum effective listening. And, the $5./hour mandatory fee for valet parking (except for the first hour, which is free) was an unwelcome surprise.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went to the Trident forWe went to the Trident for a birthday lunch, food was great, service was wonderful and of course the ambiance and views are perfect.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was excellent as wasFood was excellent as was the service. Not inexpensive but if you want good seafood, this is a place to go to.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMKudos to the staff! The hostKudos to the staff! The host stand was all smiles, we didn't have to wait for our reservation and our server Fernando was fantastic. Very attentive and professional, and our meal was delicious.
Outside seating can be chaotic though... We were cramped in a corner and guests were climbing all around us for seats at the outside bar.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMJust LOVED Everything! My new favorite restaurant in beautiful Sausalito! Fascinating history ... wonderful ambience ... attentive, gracious service ... excellent live music ... valet parking ... fabulous view ... beautifully-presented dishes of sustainably caught seafood and local organic produce using perfectly-prepared, top-quality ingredients ... this place has it all. My guests, who are seriously hardcore foodies, adored the scallops. I had THE BEST fish & chips (with terrific fresh cole slaw plus marvelous garlic fries) I have ever eaten anywhere. This place is just fun! And snazzy! You can fall in love with this place very easily ... I did :)4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome choice!!This is our 3rd trip to Trident. Awesome views, great food and great service. We have always loved coming to Trident. Great seafood and great steak entrees.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing views in a restaurantAmazing views in a restaurant that is a throw back to the 60's and 70's Sausalito. Management and staff are professional and efficient. Casual and easy atmosphere. On my first two visits, the valet cost was expensive but now the restaurant is paying the first hour which makes it much more palatable. Food prices are high, but quantity and quality is good. Good cocktails.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat spot for brunchWe often take the ferry from San Francisco and have brunch. This has always been a great place for a good brunch . The ferry trip plus brunch makes a great morning. Great view of the bay.. We will do it again when in San Francisco.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMSpectacular view, truly deliciousSpectacular view, truly delicious food (had the petrale sole, ), very friendly service! They also had live jazz -- great ambiance. We will definitely be back!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMAbsolutely amazing. I tookAbsolutely amazing. I took my wife here for her birthday and am completely impressed. We arrived early and had a great time strolling around the strip. Our reservations were for 7 so at 6:30 we decided to go in for a drink at the bar. Amazingly our table was already waiting for us. Our seats were incredible, the table was situated so we both had a clear view of the SF skyline and the Bay Bridge. Truly a romantic view. Watching the city's lights come to life as darkness falls never gets old. The food was equally impressive, cooked to perfection and a great variety of unique amazing tastes. No cookie cutter recipes here, a well thought out and executed menu. The service was top notch and full of character, from the host to the wa4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our first time inThis was our first time in San Francisco. We were extremely impressed with the food, service and the view of Alcatraz, Angel island and city was just amazing. Great find! Recommend you get a reservation.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMBest view in the Bay Area...wowBest view in the Bay Area...wow Alcatraz and downtown San Francisco right up close. Food is decent, but the views cannot be beat if you get the right window view table. Great for locals and tourists!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMFriendly and flexible staffFriendly and flexible staff and the restaurant has a great view and delicious brunch food.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food and service are good,The food and service are good, but it's the Groovy atmosphere from the late 60's and the Views that are the biggest draw for this place.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMA small and modest menu.A small and modest menu. Quite the presentation for the half crab. Waitress was very considerate. Despite being packed on a sunny Good Friday the service was very timely. We liked the ambiance and view when this was Horizons. Service and food preparation are now both better. I got the feeling that the employees like working here. The crab cake sandwich was an entree with taste surprises out of the ordinary. My wife felt the accompaniments to her crab were well selected to go with each other. We plan to return soon, maybe while crab is still in season. The on the deck parking is a definite plus for those of us who don't ambulate well.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is the spot to bringThis is the spot to bring your out of town guests.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat flavorsEnjoyed a lovely lunch with a old friend and the atmosphere of your restaurant suit that just fine. Was pleasantly surprised how good the fish tacos and salad were. Quite tasty. But as always as in most restaurants, there wasn't a generous amount of 'fish' inside and had there been, I would of given this 5 stars!!3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was both deliciousThe food was both delicious and healthy. We are happy to have them in our neighborhood!3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMMy favorite place on the planetMy favorite place on the planet is a table on the back deck at the Trident. I get a meal here each and everytime I am in Northern CA, even if I have to drive through wet weather all the way up from San Jose, which is what I did on this visit. The food never disappoints and the service is superb. I can't wait to go back again!3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMBrunch in the Bay Area tendsBrunch in the Bay Area tends to be overambitious or bland; the Trident has hit just the right note with a great menu and location. The smoked salmon hash and the smoked salmon omelette were near perfection. Bloody Mary's quite good, but the 10 inch glass is difficult to drink from. The only offnote was the coffee which was quite bad. Service was attentive but not invasive and they had heaters on the deck, on low, to keep the temperature at a very comfortable level. We will be back---well worth the drive from Sebastopol.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMIf you LOVE great service.......We chose this restaurant because we were curious about the changes, if any, after becoming the Trident again. Nothing looked any different than when it was Horizon, although we were told it was completely renovated. The service was the star of this outing for us. From the reception people to our excellent waiter, each person knew their stuff. The food was ok, but nothing to rave about. The prices were fair, except the valet parking was expensive. Should be 2 hours free, after all, you are spending money in the restaurant.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMNice restaurant with great viewThe food we had was good but not exceptional. The restaurant has great view on San Francisco from it's windows and you can see the Bay Bridge and lights if you look carefully. Overall a very nice place that I would go back to again.3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent!Gourmet chef, million dollar views, beautifully decorated inside and outside, great music, amazing history;i.e. Janis Joplin's table is open to reserve. Seafood is best.3/7/2013 12:00:00 AMWith the waterside views,With the waterside views, this restaurant could have served mediocre food and people would still come. But this place has great food, great service, and great views! We love the smoked salmon omelet that's actually got lots of lox (unlike some places). Great coffee too.
We live in SF and had been to Trident with out of town visitors. Everyone enjoyed the food and views. We liked the place so much that we returned the following week by ourselves. This time we read the history of the Trident and love the local history (who knew the Kingston Trio had owned the original Trident restaurant?).2/3/2013 12:00:00 AM
