A word from The Trident
The Trident, formerly 'Horizons", is now open!!
We recently completed our remodel and upstairs Skydeck addition showcasing the most amazing views!

In January 1981, this beautiful space was revived into Horizons restaurant. Inside is an incredible recipe of art and architecture, complemented with a resemblance of an old yacht. The ceiling mural was original to the Trident and painted by Dave Richards, creator of Janis Joplin’s infamous 1965 Porsche Cabriolet. On the outside deck, discover one of the most stunning restaurant waterfront views on the west coast, which boasts the skyline of San Francisco, Angel Island and Alcatraz. Join us for brunch, lunch or dinner

  • "Who ever owns the new Trident needs to higher a chef or at the very least a cook! I ordered the Choippino! OMG, it tasted like a can of soup poured over the seafood. The calamari was extremely chewy, not eatable, and the fish was far from fresh. My husband had the sole, it was flat and tasteless! Our son ordered the fish and chips, which was just okay. Before the so called remodel we enjoyed coming to this restaurant for the deck and the view...no view is worth a lousy meal at a high price! We will never go back."

  • "Our hostess and server were amazing. I wish I had names to give!! We were in on July 15th fort daughter's tenth birthday and were greeting so warmly it felt like a celebration. The corner table was perfect. Thanks!!"

  • "Waiter was awesome, view was fabulous. Disappointed with the crab and avocado sandwich. Seemed there was barely any crab on the sandwich. Definitely more avocado than crab."

  • "Our waiter was less than knowledgable about most things we asked. The service was slow and inattentive. My fish, which was the special, was overcooked. We were very disappointed and would not recommend anything except the view. On top of everything, the restaurant didn't even validate our Open Table reservation."

  • "The maitre d' could not have been more accommodating as was the waiter. They knew it was our anniversary and gave us a lovely table with amazing views of The City and the Bay Bridge. Food was great and they comped our dessert!"

  • "I picked this as it was listed as a great scenic spot. We were lucky to get a sunny day and were able to sit outside. We went there for brunch. I would say it is standard fare, nothing exceptional on the food front. Server was attentive and friendly."

  • "Had an amazing Salmon Omelet for brunch. The Bloodymary was Fantastic and once the sun popped out the view was to die for. Highly, Highly recommended!"

  • "excellent food and the view is amazing. Our waiter was so kind! One of the best restaurant in Sausalito for sure!"

  • "My first trip to this restaurant is my only one. The menu was too trendy for my taste and the servers were a a little Inattentive insofar as dishes were not removed from our table in a timely manner. Also, my wife's fish smelled unappealing and my burger was overlooked."

  • "We had a great table right on the water's edge with a great view of San Francisco. The waiter was very nice and knew his restaurant and kitchen well. The food was pretty good, but nothing to 'wow' about. You should definitely go to this famous location for the fun, history and view; not necessarily for the food. Would I go back? Yep, I would."

  • "Nice dining experience though the interior and surroundings are a little tired. We had attentive service coupled with great views of the SF skyline. Unfortunately, it was pretty breezy and we couldn't sit outside. There are no glass surrounds on the deck area so diners should be warned that jackets would be most appropriate if they want to experience the deck ambience. Our food choices were attractively presented.....I had scallops that were prepared well - neither rubbery or underdone. Our party was on its way to the new SFJazz Center and dining before going into the City was a good choice without the hassle of city parking or traffic. Easy to find and easy access to GG Bridge. We all enjoyed our visit."

  • "Ordered the fish and chips again. This time they were in a heavy batter. It was disappointing. Gene had the scallops, which he enjoyed. The ambience is still wonderful. A sailboat had parked in front of the restaurant and the sailors had a meal there."

  • "An inviting place with wonderful food, great service and outstanding views!"

  • "The food and the view were great, but we were unable to hear the waiter or each other because the live music, particularly the horn, was much too loud for the space."

  • "Enjoyed the food but especially with the jazzy combo playing a mix of standards and singing original tunes. A welcome live music scene."

  • "I thought this is just another fancy restaurant selling the view more than the food. It turns out the food is very delicious. Would love to come back next time."

  • "A friend highly recomendad this restaurant so we went with great expectation . Service was really slow, the waitress forgot to bring the bread and when asked to bring it did it at the end of the meal! Food was good but pricey for what is offered. I may come back just because the location is awesome and maybe other plates may be better than what we ordered."

  • "Went to dinner at the Trident to celebrate our 37 years of marriage. Started out by talking with the nicest and funniest maitre'd. We wanted a certain table and were willing to wait so sat at the bar and ordered a glass of wine. Wine was on the expensive end. Finally got our table and the view was worth waiting for. We were in a private half circle booth looking out over the bay and San Francisco. Our only complaint, was the service. Our waiter was nice enough, but not very attentive. When the maitre'd came by and asked how we were we asked for him to please send over our waiter because we hadn't seen him in awhile. Things improved after that."

  • "The ambience was stunning. We ate outside by the water. The fish was very fresh and everything was tasty. The only negative was that they were out of calamari. We will go again soon!"

  • "First time to Trident. Great day on the bay and we were looking for a great place to eat outside. Trident filled all the the things we were looking for. We were quickly seated and had a friendly waitress guide us through the specials on the menu. I had the salmon hash while my friend had the crab cake benedict. Service was very good, the food was great and we were never rushed from our seats. We sat and enjoyed a nice afternoon looking over the view of the bay. I highly recommend and we will eat there again."

  • "We had a party of about 6 people, coming from all over the bay area with our hectic schedules. We were celebrating the life of a friend. We were pretty much ignored by the waiter, had to keep reminding him to bring the wine etc. We also had to take silverware and napkins from other tables as he kept forgetting. I ordered a salad with chicken and it was about the size of a dinner salad (that comes before the meal) but it was around $18. The chicken was cut as if the kitchen had no real knives and someone used a plastic knife. I work in kitchens and we refer to this as 'slop and drop'. I was really disappointed with our dinner and embarrassed that we chose to eat here to celebrate a special person."

  • "We had a perfect brunch Saturday. The food and service was divine. The view was perfect. What a treasure of a place! And it brought back wonderful memories of Sausalito in the old days but with a modern foodie menu. Go !"

  • "Hadn't been to the Trident since it reverted back from the previous restaurant. Had some good memories from there back in the Sixties. Our dining experience (with a couple celebrating their anniversary) was very good. Our waitress, Alice, was excellent. It was not too busy, because of our early reservation and she made us feel very comfortable with her pleasant demeanor. The food was very good and the restaurant's complimentary desert for the anniversary, delivered by the ever-affable Alice was a pleasant surprise. "

  • "My experience at the Trident was, by far, one of the best dining experiences that I have had. Our waiter was thorough and friendly, and the recommendations that he made were delicious. We were seated outdoors, slightly cramped, but only because of its incomparable view of the Bay. As the sun went down over the Bay, my fiancé and I enjoyed an amazing candlelight dessert of banana bites and banana cheesecake (banana was our theme for dessert that night), after an amazing dinner (I can't quite recall what we ate that night though... something off the seafood menu), and both just couldn't get over how wonderful the experience was. A bit on the pricey side, so not for just any Friday night, but with what they offer it's so worth it."

  • "My children and I took my wife here for Mother's Day lunch. We had the catch of the day, which was Halibut to die for, my wife had the fish and chips and my daughter had the chicken sandwich. We started with the calamari which was some of the best I have ever had and the crab cakes. Service could have been a little faster but we were in no rush and the wait is made all the easier with the fab view"

  • "Good food, beautiful atmosphere, but service definitely could use some improvement. Our waitress had an attitude and our appetizers came out at the same time as our antrees. "

  • "This place has a stunning view of the bay, San Francisco, the east bay. Incredible vista! Food is nothing special - it could be so much better. Service was pretty bad. It seemed to pain the waitress to take care of us. Had to ask multiple times for things. Explaining the menu was a chore to her. Sausalito is a pretty touristy scene, so probably overworked, but some people aren't cut out for food service. Perhaps this was just one waitress and not exemplary of the rest of the crew."

  • "My son took me to The Trident for Mother's Day. The food was excellent, the service was great, and the view of SF bay and skyline is outstanding! I highly recommend it."

  • "We were excited to go back under the new/old name. However the service was slow and poor. We had to ask for water three times. My crab louis was good but my husbands clam chowder tasted like flour and his 1/2 crab was tasteless. View is fantastic and the decor is a fun throwback. "

  • "The food was very tasty. Two people had the crab, which they both thought was delicious, and cooked well my husband said his burger was delicious. And the shrimp tacos were super flavorful, I should have ordered a salad or some such because I wasn't quite full. The waitress was new and didn't quite know what she was doing. She was charming but, slow. The service was lacking, but not a deterrent. The views were beautiful. We would return if in the area again. "

  • "Showed up 15 mins late and still kept our table. View was great and drinks were great. Food was ok. The fries were unbelievable but my salmon sandwich did not have much salmon on it but tons of extras. The salmon tasted great but just not much of it. My wife loved her crab melt and the fries."

  • "The service at this restaurant was by far the worse service we have ever received. I was brought my soup, my sister ordered salad and did not receive. We were told it would be right out. Our entrees came first, I told them we were not ready for them as salad had not been received. Our waiter never apologized or checked on us. The salad finally came, and about 15 minutes later the same entrees were brought out. It was obvious they were kept warm, although I asked for new dishes to be made. Still our waiter never checked on us. I ended up ordering a glass of wine from the busboy, and it was brought to me when I finished my meal. The food was mediocre at best, the service was non existent. The view was spectacular."

  • "The food was average to good but the portions were on the small side. I ordered a salad and it was literally about the size of my palm ($11). The favors were excellent though. The music was 90's rock - think a soft jazz or something "more in the moment" would have been more appropriate. We came for the atmosphere mainly so I guess it was fine. We made special requests and none of that was looked at prior to us arriving. Overall, place is average and I wouldn't go back. Prices are TOO high for what you get. Our bill was $94 for lunch and that was for a cup of soup, clams, a salad, fish and chips (breaded, not fried - ugh???) and two bloody Mary's. "
