A word from The Trident
The Trident, formerly 'Horizons", is now open!!
We recently completed our remodel and upstairs Skydeck addition showcasing the most amazing views!

In January 1981, this beautiful space was revived into Horizons restaurant. Inside is an incredible recipe of art and architecture, complemented with a resemblance of an old yacht. The ceiling mural was original to the Trident and painted by Dave Richards, creator of Janis Joplin’s infamous 1965 Porsche Cabriolet. On the outside deck, discover one of the most stunning restaurant waterfront views on the west coast, which boasts the skyline of San Francisco, Angel Island and Alcatraz. Join us for brunch, lunch or dinner

The food and the view are wonderful. Our waiter didn't appear to care about our table. He was asked on multiple occasions for an item and needed to be reminded a second time on each occassion. There were other service issues as well. Perhaps he was just having a bad day. The food and view make it worth a try, but be forewarned.

We frequent the Trident not only for the ease of using their dock in front of their place but the food and service are worth the trip across the Bay. The view of San Francisco, both day and night, are extraordinary.

the Trident was one of my Favs back in the early '70's and always loved it....had dinner on my birthday the other night & it was just as great as I remember it! Food was delicious (seafood); love the view from the windows; waitress was So gracious and service was pretty quick. Glad there are heat lamps out on the deck now! Wished I could have stolen an Old menu" off the wall, but settled for buying a Cool poster for $10 that Looks like one of the original menus. Fun place and Still the same Wonderful painted ceiling...can't wait to come back another day and hang out on the deck!!

We visited the restaurant on my birthday and I was disappointed when we walked in. Our table wasn't in a great spot and I asked for another table but everything was reserved; we also had a reservation so I'm not sure why they couldn't move us since the other tables were empty at that time . The restaurant was very noisy and crowded and it felt a bit stuffy. The dishes were dirty and we had to send them back, but the food was good and service was reletively fast. The biggest problem for us was the cleanliness, or lack thereof, and the fact that they pack people in like sardines. I would probably never visit this place on any special occasion because its just not that kind of restaurant.

The prices are much higher than the 2 dollar signs indicated on Open Table, and the quality in no way matched the prices. The Caesar salad was small, for its price of $12, and no fresh ground pepper was offered by the waiter. My boyfriend and I both ordered the halibut special, and the halibut was very dry. We were hoping for better, given its past history, but it was extremely disappointing.

The Trident offers outstanding views and very good food. In particular, the lobster escargot is inventive and delicious. The only "not-so-good" aspect of my first dinner there was the service. We waited 10 minutes for menus, had to ask twice for water, had to ask for bread and were not checked on with any regularity. I would have rated Trident as 5-Star had the service been as good as the food.

I have been going to this restaurant since the 80's, when it was "Horizons". I have always loved the location and set-up of this restaurant. The food has always been so good. I was hoping to see much more pictures on the wall, etc., of the "Trident" when it was the 60's. I thought it would show much more of the history. That would have been really cool. Our waitress was wonderful, service was great, view amazing. Food...ok. Not very tasteful. But I will be back. Great set-up.

We needed a good Sunday lunch, brunch spot for a family Birthday with 7 people. Our age range was wide from 8 yrs young to 90 years. We found the Trident delightful. Great eggs benedict and outstanding Fish and Chips, second only to London. We had a great waiter who accommodated us very well. He got a little chocolate lava cupcake with a candle for the birthday gal. The view was great and the ambiance perfect for the occasion. I was pleased to be able to make a reservation since it was Sunday lunch and they also have valet parking since Sausalito can be quite busy. I also found the food soo much better than it was years ago when I was there. I know that there is new management. So this is a great spot and we will return....

Who ever owns the new Trident needs to higher a chef or at the very least a cook! I ordered the Choippino! OMG, it tasted like a can of soup poured over the seafood. The calamari was extremely chewy, not eatable, and the fish was far from fresh. My husband had the sole, it was flat and tasteless! Our son ordered the fish and chips, which was just okay. Before the so called remodel we enjoyed coming to this restaurant for the deck and the view...no view is worth a lousy meal at a high price! We will never go back.

Our waiter was less than knowledgable about most things we asked. The service was slow and inattentive. My fish, which was the special, was overcooked. We were very disappointed and would not recommend anything except the view. On top of everything, the restaurant didn't even validate our Open Table reservation.

We had a great table right on the water's edge with a great view of San Francisco. The waiter was very nice and knew his restaurant and kitchen well. The food was pretty good, but nothing to 'wow' about. You should definitely go to this famous location for the fun, history and view; not necessarily for the food. Would I go back? Yep, I would.

Nice dining experience though the interior and surroundings are a little tired. We had attentive service coupled with great views of the SF skyline. Unfortunately, it was pretty breezy and we couldn't sit outside. There are no glass surrounds on the deck area so diners should be warned that jackets would be most appropriate if they want to experience the deck ambience. Our food choices were attractively presented.....I had scallops that were prepared well - neither rubbery or underdone. Our party was on its way to the new SFJazz Center and dining before going into the City was a good choice without the hassle of city parking or traffic. Easy to find and easy access to GG Bridge. We all enjoyed our visit.

Went to dinner at the Trident to celebrate our 37 years of marriage. Started out by talking with the nicest and funniest maitre'd. We wanted a certain table and were willing to wait so sat at the bar and ordered a glass of wine. Wine was on the expensive end. Finally got our table and the view was worth waiting for. We were in a private half circle booth looking out over the bay and San Francisco. Our only complaint, was the service. Our waiter was nice enough, but not very attentive. When the maitre'd came by and asked how we were we asked for him to please send over our waiter because we hadn't seen him in awhile. Things improved after that.

First time to Trident. Great day on the bay and we were looking for a great place to eat outside. Trident filled all the the things we were looking for. We were quickly seated and had a friendly waitress guide us through the specials on the menu. I had the salmon hash while my friend had the crab cake benedict. Service was very good, the food was great and we were never rushed from our seats. We sat and enjoyed a nice afternoon looking over the view of the bay. I highly recommend and we will eat there again.

We had a party of about 6 people, coming from all over the bay area with our hectic schedules. We were celebrating the life of a friend. We were pretty much ignored by the waiter, had to keep reminding him to bring the wine etc. We also had to take silverware and napkins from other tables as he kept forgetting. I ordered a salad with chicken and it was about the size of a dinner salad (that comes before the meal) but it was around $18. The chicken was cut as if the kitchen had no real knives and someone used a plastic knife. I work in kitchens and we refer to this as 'slop and drop'. I was really disappointed with our dinner and embarrassed that we chose to eat here to celebrate a special person.

Hadn't been to the Trident since it reverted back from the previous restaurant. Had some good memories from there back in the Sixties. Our dining experience (with a couple celebrating their anniversary) was very good. Our waitress, Alice, was excellent. It was not too busy, because of our early reservation and she made us feel very comfortable with her pleasant demeanor. The food was very good and the restaurant's complimentary desert for the anniversary, delivered by the ever-affable Alice was a pleasant surprise.
