A word from The Tree Room @ Sundance
At The Tree Room, dining is an art form. Recipient of the prestigious 2013 Best of State American Artisan Fine Dining award, Chef Dan Sweisford serves seasonal mountain cuisine. • "Maybe I expected more since I heard how great it was"

  • "We contacted the restaurant several days in advance regarding one of the dinner guests being gluten free. We were surprised and disappointed that at the price point of this restaurant so little was done to accomodate. It is a very expensive restaurant albeit in a beautiful setting."

  • "We have frequented The Tree Room a number of times and are never disappointed. Food is always great - if you do have bread rolls, you must have the Sundance Roll; Farm Egg is great, but have to opt for the Rabbit over that even, although both excellent; the Elk is always excellent; Pork is tasty but can be a little bit rich; wine list is excellent. Service is always impeccable - Tyler and Ben looked after us brilliantly. Ambiance is beautiful, although have to admit we are very biased and love Sundance."

  • "Worth a trip to Provo Canyon and the 2 miles up to the amazing Sundance Resort. It's idyllic. Tree Room is amazingly cozy, mountain setting gorgeous and the food, service and atmosphere, all stellar. Perfect for a special occasion, anniversary dinner then stay overnight in the well appointed rooms on property. A bit of Utah heaven just 1 hour from SLC."

  • "We were staying in Salt Lake City and heard such great things about The Tree Room at Sundance. It lived up to it's billing as a fantastic destination for food, wine, service and scenery. Our friends from Denmark thoroughly enjoyed the pairing of wine with food. The Duck Confit appetizer and the Elk entree were incredible. As one of our guests said "It was a Party in the Mouth with each bite." Well done."

  • "The staff was absolutely great - beautiful, friendly, personable, attentive but not too much. I think the staff makes this place stand out. We had Sundance salad and the Elk - and that was a wonderful new food experience for us. The little things like the little chef's innovative starter and a little one-biter dessert for a farewell also added a special touch. We enjoyed the whole experience tremendously. Thank you."

  • "So delicious and wonderful! I recommend the buffalo!"

  • "I enjoyed the food and so did my wife. For what we paid the quality of the food did not match the price tag. For that reason alone I don't think we will be revisiting the tree room. The food at Communal and Foundry Gill are as every bit as tasty as the tree room. We sampled half of the menu and felt the food was good but did not match the hefty price tag."

  • "I surprised my wife with an early Valentine's dinner at The Tree Room. It was an amazing dining experience! The restaurant is fancy but a regular foodie will not feel out of place. We loved the quality of service and were surprised by how accommodating all servers were. We plan to keep this restaurant as our first pick for special occasions."

  • "We love going to The Tree Room. We always have the best service and walk away planning our next visit. Of all the Utah County restaurants, this is the best hands down. I recommend the Pepper Steak or Buffalo. Delicious."

  • "We were there Valentines. The menu was disappointing--very limited. My wife would have ordered the Valentine menu option but the waiter would not substitute a choice of dessert from the left side of the menu. The reason: "It is for efficiency and speed of service." Yeah--right. She instead ordered off the other side of the menu. Personally, I feel the chef is trying TOO hard to make the menu unique. Very limited seafood choices. The other meats were buffalo, elk, duck, chicken. My wife ordered the elk--and it was excellent. Her potatoes accompanying the meal were not close to done. There were only two small ones so not big deal. The one grape roll was killer; the other roll was possibly purchased at Wal-Mart. What a contrast."

  • "This restaurant is quite possibly the most exquisite in the entire Utah Valley area. The dining experience we had here was second to none. Very romantic and cozy. The artwork and tapestries are worth the look as well. They try to name drop Robert Redford at every turn there at Sundance, so the whole "private collection" hype does not make it more impressive. The waiters were very professional, friendly and helpful. The cuisine itself was impressive. The chef certainly deals in Latin fusion mixed with traditional French-style cooking, so there were moments where the food seemed a little unorthodox and strange. But there was nothing that would warrant it tasting awful. It was just different."

  • "Great atmosphere and food. If you can get the round table by the fireplace its the best. I've been told its Robert Redford's standard table. Well worth the trip!"

  • "Food was well prepared and the quality was very good. It was surely the center piece of Sundance. Quiet and comfortable."

  • "We celebrated two birthdays with free deserts. The menu was limited for vegetarians but my friends found three options. The ppappadella pasta was too rich and sweet. The quinoa entree was delicious. I had the Utah mountain trout with the head on. It was fabulous! Our waitress was very knowledgable and answered all our questions and took substitutions with no objections. It is a bit pricey but a great experience during Sundance festival."

  • "Wonderful restaurant. Fine cuisine. Great service with knowledgeable, attentive wait staff. This was my first time in Utah since 2005 and it was a priority to return to Sundance and dine at the Tree Room again after 9 years. Will do the same again next time. Outstanding experience all around."

  • "We dine often in the Park City area and the Tree Room was well worth the 35 minute drive! We happen to feel Sundance Resort is a very special place. We hike there often in the summer and have lunch in the grill...always pleasant! However, this was our first time to drive just for a meal and we were not disappointed! Go early and have drink in the Owl Bar. We had high expectations and they were exceeded!"

  • "Beautiful setting and romantic interior. Table by the fire with wonderful service. Food choices include tasty vegetarian options. Everything was well prepared and the chefs small spoon sample was excellent. Sorbet and after dinner truffles were nice extras you don't get often in this high priced area of often average dining. Sundance salad, quinoa trio and berries and custard were excellent. Had a bite of pepper steak and it was wonderful. Have a designated driver and enjoy one of the best restaurants in park city area."

  • "A fantastic dining experience, all the way around. From the waiter to the entire wait staff - each engaged our large group and were willing to help with any requests. We had a 3 year-old and 6 year-old at the table and they were kind and helpful to accommodate these youngster's palates. The food was simply outstanding - our group ordered several different entrees and each one impressed."

  • "We enjoyed the New Year's Eve tasting menu very much. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. Fun to try all the different items. The only problem was that I was seated next to the window which was a bit chilly, I switched chairs with my date. thanks,"

  • "I don't know of a restaurant that I could recommend more highly - and coming from Philadelphia and NYC, that's saying something. The food is thoughtful, delicious, creative, and wholly satisfying. And the staff and Chef are fully willing to tend to food allergies and sensitivities. The service is thoughtful, generous, and supportive. The ambiance is low key, tasteful, and highly enjoyable."

  • "We chose the Tree Room for a special dinner and Christmas celebration. We have been there before for special occasions. The facility was warm and home like as usual and the service attention was excellent. We have always been impressed with the entre etc. in the past but this time it seemed to have slipped a bit. A little something was missing but in general we enjoyed our time there. I highly commend the server staff for making our evening enjoyable and even entertaining."

  • "In the past we viewed this as one of the best fine dining spots in Utah. We were excited to go this time, but were disappointed with the food we received. They have a new chef who has been there less than a year, and we were not impressed with what he put out. We started with appetizers, which were creative and great, but it went downhill from there. Our entrees took more than an hour to get out, and when they did they were disjointed and lacked cohesiveness. My dish had 2 pieces of cooked chicken, one which was flavored and another that was plain and had no preparation done to it. Another dish had cooked carrots, cut off carrot tops, and an uncooked carrot sporadically placed around the plate. The flavors were amateur and unimpressive."

  • "The Tree Room is a gorgeous setting fitting for a spectacular meal. While we have eaten there many times, it continues to exceed our expectations. We travel regularly and widely and the Tree Room is a place we always eagerly anticipate visiting. Our most recent meal was amazing, with every element interesting, delicious and perfectly executed. The elk I had was the best piece of meat I have had this year. It was cooked to perfection, the flavors were complimentary and every bite was a treat. The warm beignets were a special treat. The service is nicely matched with the atmosphere and the food: warm and friendly. In sum, the Tree Room is a superb and sophisticated restaurant, the pleasure of which is heightened by its lack of airs."

  • "We never, ever miss The Tree Room at Sundance during the holidays. The festive ambience sets the mood and the evening only gets better. We always start off at the infamous Owl Bar (they serve the most wonderful Cosmos ever), then gravitate into the General Store for a little Christmas shopping. Next is the Tree Room.. Everything was perfect! The wait staff, the menu (we always enjoy the Pepper Steak), the appetizers (had oysters on the half shell with an incredible dipping sauce), great Chianti, the Sundance salad and the berries and custard dessert...FANTASTIC. Oh, and I almost forgot to mention the rolls...out of this world rolls! We had a wonderful table that allowed us to sit side by side on a bench...perfectly romantic!"

  • "We had Thanksgving Brunch Buffett. We arrived a little early but they were able to seat us which was great as they were very busy.. Clearly Sundance is a very popular spot for a Thanksgiving meal. The buffet was excellent. Everything you'd want for a Thanksgiving meal plus much more. Our only complaint would be our server was a little inattentive. Our drink glasses sat empty for some time and we were never asked if we would like a refill. But otherwise the food was delicious and fresh."

  • "The drive up to the resort amped up the anticipation. We were welcomed with warmth and were escorted to our seats. The decor is elegant-rustic and pays homage to the natural setting. The service was superb; as if we were the only ones dining. Each course had a balance of sweet, savory and creamy. The ambience was easy, relaxed and felt as we were home."

  • "Truly one of the best meals we've had anywhere in North America, surrounded by the most incredible scenery. If you're anywhere nearby - such as at Park City, go...just go and do so before sunset do you can see the stunning views from the base."

  • "We love Sundance and we love the Tree Room. Service is always excellent and the ambiance is simply superb with an amazing outlook and rustic décor. No tasting menu on this visit sadly but food was still consistently very good. It really is an occasion dining location and fits perfectly in a stay at the resort for a special night or just relax and getaway from it all."

  • "Arrogant, aloof service personnel. Over priced for value. Bring a bottle of wine, some cheese & bread and stay outside for Sundance's real beauty."

  • "With menu prices exceeding $$$$, we expected the food to match but we were sorely disappointed. My salmon arrive on a sauce of tasteless pureed lettuce covered by just as tasteless baby vegetables. The elk medallions could have been pork or beef or veal or just overdone. Save your money and eat in Heber or Provo!"
