A word from The Tomato Bistro
The Tomato Bistro's intention is to serve its clientele with a mix of popular Couch Tomato Café favorites and a dynamic clutch of "small plate" menu options. The desire to further pander to customers palates is facilitated by the fully stocked bar, touting a rotating list of featured wines and craft beers. A few of the most salient points carried upstairs from the café below are the continuation of moderate prices, the ingenious combinations of quality ingredients, and the premium placed on the customer experience. The Bistro creates a forum for family and friends to relax and mingle amidst an impeccably chosen array of food and drink. The Bistro can accommodate parties of most any size or disposition, and the time spent inside its cozy environs will hardly be reflected with the waiter's final stop at the table.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "appetizers and small plates along with personal pizzas, a decently priced wine list and a great selection of beers make this a great place for bar food. the food was very good and well prepared."

  • "Enjoy coming on Wednesdays when wine is 1/2 price. Pizza is small but tasty. Although crust is thin, it would be much better if crisper!"

  • "Nice and kind service, great pizzas and salads, and awesome french toast (Brunch all you can eat is the best deal in town)"

  • "Met a friend here for dinner at 6 on a Saturday. Parking was a mess due to an event in town and I wasn't aware of the Free valet parking in their private lot until after my meal was over( bummer). When I got there, little late, they were very kind to accomodate us. We loved the beer selection and selected based on waitress recommendation with great results. We had the sliders eaxch ordering one we wanted and they were delicious. We ordered a procuitto pizza between us with gluten free crust which was very good. We also split the ice cream sandwich dessert which I wanted to check out since everything else was so delicious."

  • "When I pulled up to the "call up valet" I was sure I made a mistake, because all I saw was a take out pizza joint, but when I went up the stairs to meet my friend, I was pleasantly surprised to see a bar and bistro with yet another floor above us. Happily they put the families with kids on the third floor while we were on the second with a few other adults. Great happy hour. Good wine by the glass. Enjoyed the pizza. Would definitely return. Valet parking is important in Manyunk."

  • "Our party of 4 dined here on a Saturday evening--it was GREAT! The staff is fantastic--very friendly & accommodating...our server Kristina was superb. We enjoyed multiple appetizers & 2 different pizza's (wheat crust)--all delicious. They have a great craft beer selection! We never felt rushed and our food was spaced out well--we were able to take our time & enjoy. WE WILL BE BACK!"

  • "Staff is outstanding. Ambiance perfect for lunch, esp on 2nd and 3rd levels for a large group. 1st level was more vibrant and appealing if there were less of us. Food was great. Beer selection unique and great, incl gluten-free! Great exp all around."

  • "When we've had a long day and neither of us feels like cooking, this is where we go. It's a relaxing atmosphere, I have a glass of wine and my fiancé has a beer. The food is perfectly portioned, so we can order a few things and share and never leave feeling stuffed. Healthy options, love the gluten free crust, we actually prefer it and neither of us is allergic. Overall fav spot in Manayunk to unwind."

  • "The Tomato Bistro is a cool and tasty restaurant in Manayunk. Its two levels of light-filled industrial chic are always a great stop with friends for a delicious bite to eat. The lunch buffet is one of the best deals in town. It is perfect for groups as its fixed price makes dividing the bill so easy. Put the Tomato Bistro on your active go-to list."

  • "I recently had to take our tax season interns out to lunch. I picked CT because last time I was there was so enjoyable. Well this time was just as good and everyone loved it. I will continue to go there."

  • "There were good breakfast and lunch options on their brunch buffet and you really can't beat their $12 all you can drink mimosas on a weekend!"

  • "Have been to Tomato Bistro a handful of times, usually with members of my family who have celiac and are on a gluten free diet. The pizza is fabulous! (Even the members of the family who don't have dietary restrictions are happy to order the GF versions so we can all share). Great toppings with wonderful variety, and delicious crust. The service is always terrific- friendly and attentive. Warm and comfortable ambience - exposed brick and lovely wooden surfaces. Excellent beer list, too!"

  • "We booked this reservation through Open Table's byob link. There were no restrictions noted on the link regarding the byob, though other linked restaurants had specifications listed. When we got there, we were told byob was only on Sundays. That was annoying, but potentially Open Table's fault- not really sure. Anyway, the menu selections of small plates were sort of a weird hodge podge of random stuff & I loathe paying huge amounts of money for tapas style food. Really overpriced for what it is. Although we are loyal Couch Tomato Cafe patrons, I would never return to the Bistro."

  • "As a post-piano recital award for my celiac daughter, we booked a reservation here. The pizza was wonderful, as were the sliders. We also were given a taste of the GF tomato soup - also tasty and comforting. The only minor concern was timing - it took a while to get our food. But overall, a great experience. We will return the next time we are in or near Manayunk."

  • "My husband and I went here because we were told that their gluten free options were very good. We got the sliders and two pizzas, all gluten free and it did not disappoint. the truffle sliders and the goat cheese and bacon pizza were our favorites. It was a very busy Saturday night and it was a little loud, but not too bad. We are so happy that we found a great pizza place with delicious gluten free options!"

  • "Went for late/lunch early dinner after reviewing menu on opentable and hearing great things about this place. Only to find out they had a limited menu available until after 5 so all we had to choose from was pizza, salad and sliders. The best part of my meal was the drink...ginger ale!"

  • "We had dinner at the Bistro on Valentines Day and enjoyed it. We shared an appetizer, salad, pizza, and dessert - and didn't walk away feeling over-stuffed. The portions were perfect. The food was delicious. And the place is pretty cool inside - like I'm sure many places in Manyunk are. The reason we sought this place out was for the vegetarian-friendly options. It's nice to have more than a few options - check out their menu online. Also, it's within walking distance to after-dinner entertainment options. We're looking forward to return trip!"

  • "Tomato bistro is a great little neighborhood find. The menu is upscale casual. We went for Valentines day and got 3 courses to share, 2 deserts, 2 glasses of champagne, 2 chocolate covered strawberries and a dessert, all for $50!"

  • "A great restaurant located in the the heart of Manayunk. I took my 2 out of towners here for dinner. They loved the food as much as I did. We have flatbread pizza, appetizers and drinks. I brought another out of towner here for the fabulous lunch! Great way to sample the menu for a very good price. Food is fresh and yummy."

  • "The buffet has good variety: salads, delicious tomato bisque, chicken dish, potatoes of various kinds, a unique mac and cheese, and lots of pizzas, vegetarian and not. The room is pleasant and nicely lit, making it an overall pleasant experience."

  • "We arrived on Tuesday at 12:15. There were only 5 other diners in the restaurant, which is upstairs from its counterpart, the Couch Tomato. We got the $12 lunch buffet, which largely consisted of various pizzas, an egg and vegetable combo wrapped in a light crust, a pork dish with coconut sauce, potatoes, fresh green bean salad, barbecue chicken salad, and a salad with walnuts, cheese, craisins, and mixed greens. A pretty good number of items for a small restaurant, all delicious and unique. The waitress was very attentive, and they checked the buffet frequently and brought out fresh pizza."

  • "Good place for a simple meal of pizza and salad. Interesting and tasty flatbread pizzas and some good small plates for appetizers. Service is friendly and attentive. Very good selection of beers and my waitress brought me samples of 2 when I was having a hard time deciding. I really enjoy having Tomato Bistro close by and it definitely has the feel of a nice neighborhood restaurant."

  • "I ordered a pizza with prosciutto, a waldorf salad, and the short rib small plate. The pizza was very good, flat bread style. The salad came as expected as seemed very fresh. The short ribs were very tender although the sauce was not to my taste, but I think that was just personal preference because it had a tomato base and I'm not a huge fan of tomato. The waitress was very nice, not overbearing but always there when we needed something. The atmosphere was casual but nice and the place seemed very clean. I would definitely recommend this place to friends because the prices are reasonable, the food is good, and it's a comfortable place to eat."

  • "I went with my boyfriend for brunch on Sunday morning. It was so delicious. They had a variety of stuff to choose from, and everything was fresh, healthy and delicious. The salads were amazing, the french toast was incredible, and the pesto pizza was ridiculous! I would recommend them to anyone. I had a fantastic time and I will be going back soon."

  • "It has been so difficult finding a really great gluten free menu and Tomato Bistro hits the mark. I have had gluten free pizza in many cities and none have compared to the gluten free pizza at this restaurant. The gluten free sliders are amazing also. Thank you for giving me the ability to eat a pizza again! Oh, and the salads and appetizers are incredible too! (this was trip #5)"
