This was just one more in the unending string of excellent dining experiences at this restaurant. After five minutes of stand-and-fiddle, we're directed to the second floor of the restaurant -- where we're told our table will be ready "soon". A few minutes more and we're ushered to a table set for six.
As water glasses are filled, the server notices the extra setting. "Only five tonight?" Extra setting clatters away.
Food is uniformly fine, although with maybe a little ostentatious oddness in some preparations. (Sweet potato/blue crab/ham hash, anyone?) Service is just a little behind the curve, maybe because our server is covering too many tables. The staff always goes out of their way to be very pleasant and helpful. We usually stop here on our trip from Hilton Head, South Carolina to New York which makes the trip a much more enjoyable experience. We had reservations and our table was ready when we arrived. Very good service, we never had to summons our waiter, he just showed up every time we had a need. Great atmosphere, moderate noise, three floors and every table was full. The food was exceptional, I had the New York strip, it was good but I have had better. Not only was TC everything it always had been in terms of quality and ambiance, but she was over the moon with our choice nd relived a lot of very happy memories through out a delicious meal. She chose the Prime Rib as did two others in our party while I had the crab cakes. The only reason this review gives a 4 instead of a 5 is that the quality of ingredients and size of portions on the Restaurant Week menu was not quite the best value given the price. The restuarant was cool and somewhat drafty making it uncomfortable for those without a coat or sweater. The restaurant is generally a little dark.
