Diner Reviews
  • "I've been eager to try The Tin Table and Seattle Restaurant week was the perfect excuse. Sadly, my dining companion and I were both underwhelmed. We had the apple-wood smoked sea scallops (which I did enjoy), roasted rack of lamb w/ couscous, nettle lasagna, key-lime tart (also tasty) and flourless brownie. The couscous fell flat and was plain, leaving a lot to be desired. The nettle lasagna underplayed such a great local & seasonal item -- nettles. Drinks were great and our server was very friendly. Would recommend to friends for happy hour/drinks."

  • "Impromtu dinner out and it was delicious.Only downside was bar served drink with prosecco in tumbler over ice which diminished the sparkle. Had the same drink two days before in a flute and it was perfect."

  • "Food, ambiance and service was excellent. However the portions were so small that we were all still hungry after dessert. We went for a drink and a bite elsewhere immediately after dinner."

  • "Came here with a group of seven last Saturday night. Everything was great; the food was delicious (recommend the trout, gnocchi, and mussels for sure), and the drinks just right....however. We could not stop laughing when a group member ordered some bread for the table, and all the waiter brought was literally a medium-sized piece of bread--basically a portion for one person. After a few drinks, it was pretty funny, and we 'shared' the piece of bread around the table with each person breaking off a small bite. Other than one drink order mix-up, we had no other issues and had a wonderful evening here."

  • "I went there because of the supposedly vibrant cool atmosphere but mostly all tables were organized into 2 big groups leaving an empty space in the middle. My table for 2 was against a wall at the kitchen entrance, isolated from the others and it felt pretty awkward. I was hoping for a cool sophisticated vibe and the whole birthday group with ballons really spoiled that. It also took forever for us to be seated and to even get a drink in the bar while we waited. The food is nothing special so big regret to have booked in that place."

  • "I tried to make reservations on Open Table but was unable because of the size of my party (12). It is unfortunate that you can't get points due to that stipulation. The evening was great from beginning to end. I went there with 11 friends for my birthday and the staff was great. The food is affordable and great. The bar staff was very attentive to drinks and suggestions. It is really a great little tucked away spot with a great atmosphere."

  • "I had dined at the Tin Table before but never in the back room. It has 4 small tables. It's not as pretty as the main dining area but it was signifantly quieter. As we left the restaurant it was notable how noisy the main dining area is. They open the back room on weekends only. Our sever was very attentive and had lots of attention to detail. They were out of the wine we chose and as we debated another option she brought us a sample of each of the two we were considering which helped us choose. From the window we could see people playing bicycle polo on the basketball court across the street which was entertaining. Liver pate starter was delicious. Had both the menu duck risotto and special seafood risotto and both were wonderful."

  • "We've dined here on 3 separate occasions and it's hit or miss. The ambiance is lovely but the menu is limited and they always feel just a little under-staffed. Service people are all super gracious and fun but they seem to disappear throughout the meal and no one else is around to ask for salt and pepper or the bill. Overall, I give it a B."

  • "I took clients to the The Tin Table on 2/20. When we first arrived at 7pm on a Thursday, the place was empty and the lights were up. Felt very stoic/rigid. We saddled up to the bar to have a drink before heading to our table. The bartender did a great job with our cocktails - we tried several including Laman's Terms which was yummy. We were shown to our 4 top which was located by the window. I find the whole Century Ballroom building drafty and cold. We were cold throughout dinner. Salads/starters were small. The mains were decent sized, but nothing that memorable. Overall, I would not rush back to The Tin Table - there are too many other great spots in Seattle."

  • "I came here with friends for a bday dinner before a night out in Cap Hill. The menu looked amazing with all the great options. I kept it simple and went with the steak and frites. The layout of the restaurant is interesting. We were seated in the back by the kitchen, but getting there was a bit of an obstacle course. Service was a bit slow and not sure it was that busy. We came and it was snowing pretty good out. But ordered a scotch on the rocks and it took a while to get my drink. Steak came out cook how I liked it med rare. Flavor was ok not great. There was a small dollop of blue cheese but not enough to add flavor to the steak. There was also a small bundle of arugula. And the remaining 2/3 of my plate was covered in curly fries."

  • "Shoestring fries and arugula salad were simple and perfect. The duck risotto with pecans was rich, with a delightful balance between savory and sweet. The rice was cooked perfectly. The gnocchi were bursting with flavor in pesto with pear and cherry tomatoes. I also appreciated the good selection of moderately-priced wines In all, a wonderful destination for a superb dinner."

  • "The Tin Table has become our go-to spot on Capital Hill for special occasions or a happy hour burger. You have to try the Floozy burger and truffle fries. Best burger in a long-long time. The more formal foods and desserts never let you down either. Drinks are wonderful, prices are reasonable, service is great. Be sure to take a class or go dancing at the ballroom after dinner!"

  • "It is a great place with a lovely staff, but also understaffed. Our waiter was doubling as the host for the night, as well as covering the majority of tables."

  • "We had a scrumptious meal and had the pleasure of just taking our time, sharing a bottle of delicious wine, not being hurried by the wait staff. It's romantic while still being relaxed and welcoming. They have a community table as well, making it easy to enjoy a meal out by oneself as well. Dessert was divine!"

  • "Next door to two dance studios so it has some appeal for being unique. The champagne prices are amazing! Food was also well done. We will be back to try some more of the menu items. The server was an order taker rather than someone interested in guiding you through the experience."

  • "Truffle frites!! So addictive and absolutely fantastic. The menu is just one page so not overwhelming at all but offering great selection. Everything from duck & pecan risotto to trout and housemade sausages. Excellent food overall. My only complaint was that the service was slow. Not horribly and we were in no hurry and the server was pleasant enough but slower than typical. Another plus is that they actually did a classic moscow mule -- in the copper mug! Something that seems a rare find. I would definitely go again!"

  • "I chose this restaurant because a vegetarian friend was joining us for dinner. The food was outstanding, fresh and full of flavor. Four of us shared the boiled cheese balls (way nicer than that sounds!), a beet salad and a farrow dish. All were great but the farrow dish was the favorite, it was crunchy and tasted a bit nutty, just wonderful. For mains, I had the butternut gnocchi, the vegetarian friend had the ravioli, my husband had the fish and my other friend had the burger. Every dish was great. The panna cotta desert was creamy, fresh and mouth wateringly good. Great wine, great server, all was good. I'll be back very soon."

  • "We frequently dine at the Tin Table and usually have great service and the food is always delicious. However, this time we were told by our server that we should stay away from a few of the items on the menu and she also recommended a wine that wasn't even close to the style we said we were interested in. Normally, we would appreciate the advice, but it seemed more of an opinion and not good advice. With that said, we were all pleased once we got the wine we really wanted and the entrees were all good. When the bill came, we did split it among 5 people (so understand the complexity) but we were overcharged!!! It took a few attempts to get it corrected, but what a hassle."

  • "We take my mother in law (ex chef) here often when she visits from out of state. Food is stellar every time, we try to check out new restaurants for her visits but end up back @ Tin Table often. This time the boyfriend had the pork chops, a large serving perfectly cooked. My salmon was prepared a bit differently, with crushed potato chips on top, and cooked a bit more dry than I usually prefer but it was an interesting take on salmon / potatoes. They could have been a bit more descriptive on the menu. Similarly the butternut squash gnocchi was potato gnocci with large pieces of squash, when I would have expected a butternut squash sauce. Overall everything was tasty, their frites are cooked perfectly."

  • "My boyfriend and I went to the Tin Table for our weekly date night. We had roasted cauliflower, arugula salad, duck and pecan risotto, the sausage entree, and the cheese plate. Everything was yummy...the kitchen obviously put a lot of thought into how to season/flavor the food, and the ingredients were high quality. My only complaint is that the risotto was not creamy and soft; it was just soupy rice. I didn't even eat half of it and the server didn't seem to notice or care. Still, the flavor of the dish was really nice, so we will definitely return for another meal."

  • "The room and champagne cocktails were festive. But while the dishes all sounded delicious and were delivered with a flourish, they were served at room temperature and the flavors were disappointing. Lobster ravioli was too heavily vanilla-sweet, potatoes were cool and limp, ahi sauce overpowered the fish. The beef was tasty, but tough. Overall a disappointing meal for the price."

  • "Been here twice, menu changed a lot between both which means they rotate to use fresh ingredients. I'll talk about the second time, since that's what this review is for :) we were a party of 8, so we had a lot of dishes. The plates are fairly small, so you do need an appetizer or dessert to fill up. Pasta dishes were superb, fishes were disappointing, meats were OK, rissottos were Half awesome half meh. Given the lack of,consistency in the greatness of plates, can't give anything more than 3/5 stars for the price."

  • "Great and not over priced selection of sparkling wines. Good food, great ambiance. The dessert selection was great so keep some appetite for it. Total price for App-entree+dessert+drinks was 50ish."

  • "Loved the funky building this restaurant resides in. The waiter was attentive, knowledgeable, and didn't rush us. The food was fresh and cooked perfectly. Perfect quantity and price. We had the scallops, chicken and salmon and each of us loved our meal. I suggest having the roasted cauliflower too. Great place I will come back to"

  • "You can have a lovely dinner for two for $50 or a lot more. But you don't have to break the bank to take a date here and enjoy yourself. Best regular dish is definitely the steak frites. But pay attention to the specials and if in doubt, just have the special. It's always great."

  • "Service was very poor. I've never had to hail down the waitstaff as many times as I did that night, and they did not seem particularly busy. Many were standing around, looking everywhere but at our table. Bartender made an *awful* martini, but the menu looked good and the food actually came out quite tasty, well proportioned, and relatively fresh & healthy (one dish was cold, however). Overall, I would probably return to give them a second chance and to try a few other dishes. Maybe they are inconsistent. It would be nice to have a good experience, though, as I'd really like to love this place. Location is great & menu is promising. They just need to work on their service big-time, in my opinion, to keep my business."

  • "I've been here twice before, so am a little surprised that our recent experience was just ok. I made a reservation for a Sunday night and noted that it was a birthday dinner - could we please have a table by the window? When we arrived, there was only one other table seated in the whole restaurant; they were at the 2-top at the window. The other window table was a 4-top, but the server seated us at a table smack in the middle of the restaurant instead. Only one other table was seated that evening - 2 people, who were placed at the window. Frustrating. The food was fine and the service was unremarkable. I am surprised. Perhaps we just hit a lull or an off night. My past two experiences were 4-star rather than 3."

  • "We went to the Tin Table b/c we planned to dance at Century Ballroom that night, and it was a great idea. The restaurant has good, quality food and unique cocktails. It was bustling -- there were 2- person tables, people at the bar, a large table for groups and another area with couches where a large group was hanging out/drinking. The atmosphere was vibrant. Our server answered questions -- folks were friendly. And afterwards all we had to do was walk across the hall to go dancing. The meal is not inexpensive, but we ate well and it was perfect to have our evening all in the same building."

  • "My recent experience at the Tin Table was okay. The drinks were good, the staff were nice, and the menu choices looked promising. However, everything I ordered was WAY too salty. Started with Frites, which was a giant pile of super skinny fries. I would have liked them a little less skinny, but the biggest problem was that every bite was like dumping a salt packet in my mouth. For dinner I had the steak, which came with arugula salad and more frites. The salad was dressed with oil, vinegar, and salt! And the blue cheese topping on my steak had bacon mixed in with it! There was no escaping the salt...fortunately the drinks and dessert (panna cotta) were yummy."

  • "Typically enjoy Tin Table. We believe the staffing was short. Only one server and helper covered the several tables. Our service was not prompt and we often had to hail our server, ask for things like wine list, as well as waiting for wine after food had arrived. The server was affable, but made no explanation for why we were waiting, except in the case of the retrieval of one of our bottles of wine. We realized later, btw, that the 2nd wine we received was actually the first bottle ordered - partly oversight by guest who ordered the wines. We understand the challenges of working short. However, in a table service restaurant where neither the prices nor tips are low, we are entitled to adequate staffing."

I had the bartenders special called The Fluffer which was great with the hamburger and frites...all was amazing! The ambiance was really cool with brick exposed walls and fun lighting! Our server was great too! We will be back for sure!"
